chapter 4

Hunters pov

Leaving Trinity to get settled in her room I head to my office, opening the door I see Dom sat on a chair by my desk playing on his phone. As soon as he notices me he began to grin like a Cheshire cat. " Did she get settled ok"

"yes" I snapped.

"what is wrong with you man? I thought you would be happy, you finally found another hybrid" I take a seat at my desk opposite Dom,

leaning forward resting my elbows on the desk I rub my eyes. "I am happy, it's just..." I lean back in my seat letting out a loud sigh, looking at Dom not knowing what to say, I was happy I had found her, but what does that now mean? so many emotions running through my head, I can't get over Derek I wanted his head on a spike!

"it's complicated" I sighed,

"it's only as complicated as you make it, have you told Mary yet"

"no" I rub my forehead, great with everything going on I hadn't even considered my girlfriend, I know we don't have the best relationship it's hardly based on love, we were only seeing each other but she was a great help when my mother passed away two years ago, I'll always be thankful for her helping me through that time of my life.

I never wanted a girlfriend and hated the thought of any sort of commitment with a female, but I made a promise to my mother on her death bed that I would give love a chance, so we officially became a couple.

I thought we would run this pack together, unfortunately, it wasn't to be, Mary has no interest in the pack anymore she is always too 'busy' to help with anything pack related. I hardly ever see her, hell I barely even sleep in the same bed as her anymore.

It's not helped that my best friend hated her with a passion, hell everyone in the pack does nobody could stand her they all avoid her like the plague.

"can I ask you something" Dom asks leaning over to rest on my desk.

I look at him raising my eyebrows as if to say OK. "At Derek's, when we were in the forest, you said you picked up a scent" I knew straight away what he was going to say.

"was it her?" I slowly nod my head gesturing a yes.

"you know what that means right?" of course I knew, a scent radiating from someone which is so intoxicating, it gives you goosebumps, makes every hair on your body stand to attention, makes you want to hold them in your arms and inhale until your lungs explode, it meant they were your mate, another half that completes you, we were soul mates.

"she's my mate" Dom jumps up slamming his hands down on my desk "I knew it" I sat watching Dom have his little moment of joy, realizing I'm not joining in, he slowly slides back down into his seat.

"please tell me you're not going to throw this away for that stuck up b***h, this is your chance at finally being happy" I was about to cut in, tell him I was happy. " don't give me the 'I am happy' crap, I know you too well!" He's right, he's known me all my life, I class this man as my brother he can see straight through me." you know what, I don't understand you if trinity wasn't your mate I would be all over that!"

"you WERE all over that" I throw back at him, remembering back to our journey home, they didn't shut up on the plane, I barely got a word in anywhere, seeing him with her, I hated it. I knew he liked her!

"I was getting to know her! for God's sake Hunter the girls have been locked up for 10 years, she went through so much, probably more than we will ever know, not to forget she saw her only friend get killed today, I felt bad for her, she doesn't deserve that!"

He was right, but I couldn't stop this pang of jealousy hitting me like a brick wall each time I saw them together.

"Look just get to know her, spend some time with her" He's right I should, maybe just the two of us, tomorrows shopping trip will be ideal.

"Yeah your right, I've offered to take her shopping tomorrow to get some bits, she turned me down of course, but after I agreed to help her look for a job so she can pay her why she agreed to let me take her".

"she wants to work?" Dom asked confused.

"yep" I replied popping the p at the end of the word.

"She doesn't want your money?" Dom questions me.

"Nope!"

Dom smiles at me "see it's fate! she is the complete opposite of Mary!"

As Dom finished his sentence, my office door opened and in walked Mary glaring at the both of us

"who is the complete opposite of me?" she raised her eyebrows at Dom.

Dom smiled shifting his body around so he is now facing Mary, I know that look well, he was about to piss her off and I was going to be the one that was going to get the brunt of it.

"Our new house guest, she's lovely, smart, beautiful, like I say the complete opposite of you.

she moves her head to look at Hunter "she?"

I know I have to answer her before Dom pipes up again.

"yeah, we brought her back from Derek's pack" I tried to brush it off as if it was nothin.

"why would you do that?" she asked folding her arms.

I look down knowing that whatever I was going to say next will no doubt start an argument.

"She's a hybrid like me"

"what? how? you said you were the last of your kind? so you lied to me" she began to raise her voice as she pointed her finger at me

"no I didn't lie, I thought I was"

"turns out he's not" Dom interrupts, I give him a wide eyed stare letting him know he is not helping the situation.

I can see the anger building on her face as she turns back to Dom "I wasn't talking to you, Dominic!

"How old is she?" she asked flicking her hair over her shoulder as she turned her attention back to me.

"18"

"And where is she now?"

"getting settled in her room"

"what room?"

"I've put her in the room next to ours, so I can keep an eye on her she hasn't had the best start in life"

"What's that mean?" I let out a loud sigh, loud enough to let her know she was asking way to many question and I was getting fed up of answering them.

"Derek had her chained in his basement for the last 10 years, she was abused" that was all the information I was willing to share, it didnt feel right explaining Trinity's back story to someone who clearly wasn't interested.

"And you bring someone like that into our home, what if she's messed up after everything she has been through, you of all people know what it's like to try to keep control of your emotions when your a hybrid, what if she attacks someone, what if she attacks me, I don't feel safe, she is right next to where I sleep what if she attacks me in the middle of the night?" I knew she wouldn't like her being here but I am afraid this wasn't her call.

"I wish!" Dom muttered to himself only just loud enough for me to hear.

"She is not going to attack anyone!" I started raising my voice as I was starting to become agitated, "She is staying put, I don't want to hear any more about it"

After a moment of silence she obviously realised she wasnt going to get her own way as she huffed and walked out of the room,

The newly found silence was ruined by the sound of her high heels clicking against the tiled floors..

Dom got up and poured us both a drink, It was very much needed, we spent the next hour talking about different things I could do so I would feel more relaxed around trinity, to make her feel more at home, I'm very much looking forward to our little trip tomorrow.

Doms pov

I was in my room getting changed into my sports gear, Hunter and Trinity just left to go shopping so I thought id gets in a couple of hours training with the lads.

As I walked out from my bathroom to grab my trainers Mary was coming in through my door.

"Have you ever heard of knocking?" I say sitting on the edge of the bed to put my shoes on?

"Cut the crap Dom, where has Hunter gone with that girl" she snapped pointing her finger at me.

"It sounds like your jealous Mary" The amusement was clear in my tone.

"I won't ask again tell me!" she folder her arms as she began to tap her toe on the floor.

"He's taken her shopping" her face drops, she folds her arms in front of her.

"Hunter doesn't do shopping, so try again"

"well today he does, trinity needs clothes," I can see the anger forming across her face

"trinity? what sort of name is that anyway?"

"just get out, I don't have time to listen to you throwing a tantrum"

" I know what your up to Dominic! a new girl in the house and you're not stuck by her side trying to get in her knickers, your pushing Hunter onto her, aren't you? go on deny it!" she shouts

"ow I'm not denying anything" as I start walking to exit my room I stopped in front of her and looked her straight in the eyes "Hunter won't need any pushing, you know why?" she just glared at me awaiting for my answer "because she is everything your not!"

For once Mary didn't say a word simply stormed out and headed down to her room her door slamming shut with such force i felt the vibrations, I smiled to myself knowing I was beginning to get to her "God I hate that woman" I mumble as I left my room heading towards the stairs so I could go train.

Hunter's pov

I walk out of the house with Trinity about to get in the car, Opening the door for her she slides in gracefully, I took a couple of deep breaths to calm myself for the journey ahead.

From the moment I woke up Mary has been on at me to get Trinity out of the house. I just can't do it, she is staying here with me, As I closed my door I inhaled deeply, her scent was strong and to my surprise calmed me immensly.

As we hit the road its only a 20-minute drive to the shopping centre I try to think of a conversation starter.

" How was your night, I hope you slept well?" I remembered the questions that Dom had told me to ask her.

"Yes, was the best nights sleep I think I've ever had, thanks again for doing all of this for me" she smiled,

"It's fine honestly you don't have to keep thanking me you know"

I look across to see her looking nervous "is everything ok?"

"I'm sorry, if I upset you at breakfast I didn't mean anything by what I said, I didn't realise you had a girlfriend" she nervously spoke.

"it's ok, don't worry about it"

" Sorry I shouldn't have just presumed, so how long have you two been together?"

I don't want to talk about Mary after this morning she is the last person I want to think about, I've been thinking about what Dom said to me last night about Trinity being the complete opposite to Mary I want to see how she interacts with the pack, see if they accept her. So I tried ignoring her question in the hope that she doesn't think I'm being rude to her.

"I know all this pack life is new to you, but I would like to formally introduce you to my pack, would you mind if I put on a bit of a party on Friday night, sort of a welcome to the pack thing for you, I don't want to overcrowd you I understand if....."

"That would be lovely, I can't wait to meet everyone, It's been so long since I was allowed to make friends" this seemed to please her greatly, I was thankful she cut in I could feel myself starting to ramble.

"can I ask you something, I apologize if it's personal to you but your probably the only one I can talk to about all this hybrid stuff, I don't have anyone else to ask" she seemed nervous again, this just intrigued me that little bit more.

"of course ask me anything"

"Do I smell strange to you, like to me you smell very different to everyone else I've ever met, is that just a hybrid thing?"

shit, I never thought of the possibility of her not understanding how this all works, what do I say? `it means your destined to be my wife, we are soul mates` she will think I'm crazy! if I admit it to her now she will run a mile.

"yeah, just a hybrid thing" I want to kick myself! if she finds out the truth she will want to know why I lied. I'm curious to know what she thinks of the smell does she feel a pull also? "so what exactly do I smell like to you?"

"erm....well the only way I can describe it is like a sandalwood smell but.....good, its relaxing I like it, you smell good"

I can hear my heart thudding out of my chest, to hear she likes it makes me happy I can't help but smile at her.

"so what about me? what do I smell like to you?"

she wanted to know more, this was a good thing right?

"you're more of a vanilla smell but sweet like chocolate" she leans her head back then to me

"do you like it?" she asks.

"I do yes" more than she will ever know.

Trinity's pov

We had spent most of the day shopping, and finally back home, I thought Hunter would have been bored stiff, I didn't think men liked to shop.

I think he had more fun than I did, I kept telling him off, every item I stopped to look at the picked up and brought for me, The back of his range rover was jam-packed with clothes, shoes he insisted I got makeup and jewellery so I was prepared for the party Friday night. He kindly helped me carry it all to my room.

As I got to my room there was a young girl inside putting some clean towels in the bathroom, "ah I'll introduce you to Ashley she is the one who looks after the rooms on this floor," Hunter said, I go inside and dropped my bags on the bed, suddenly out walked Ashley from the bathroom looking at me with a bright smile.

"Ashley, this is Trinity she is a very special guest of mine I trust you will take good care of her" as I walked forward to say hi to her she jumped up and down happily clapping her hands.

" I know who she is" she yelled, grabbed me in a tight bear hug, she was surprisingly strong being only slightly shorter than I am with a small frame, I would say about the same age maybe a year older than myself, she had gorgeous thick blonde curls just past her shoulders.

"You've spoken to Dom haven't you," Hunter asked her.

"yep", she chirped looking pleased with herself.

"thought so" Hunter murmured to himself as he seemed to give Ashley a strange look slowly shaking his head before returning to look at me.

"I will leave you to unpack, Dinner will be ready in 20 minutes I'll meet you downstairs"

I smiled and did something that even shocks me, I lean in to him and wrapped my arms around his neck hugging him "thank you" I felt him tense up for a moment but finally slowly he wrapped his arms around my lower back giving me a gentle squeeze.

"your welcome" he replies before letting go and exiting the room.

I feel Ashley lightly tap my arm "you made him blush" she chuckled

"He's a nice guy "

"He is, he deserves so much better than the old hag he's with," she said with a pitiful look on her face.

"What's she like if you don't mind me asking?" I question her.

"You will soon find out, now come on let me help you with some of this so we can go eat" She looked at the pile of bags and boxes that covered my bed and floor.

Ashley seemed lovely she reminded me a lot of Michelle, I just knew we are going to be great friends.

I think I will like it here, after all, I was very nervous when I first arrived I didn't know if I would be accepted but I'm pleased I'm here, Roll on Friday.
