Dean's POV
I have to convince the investors in my company to stay with me. I don't need them, but I do not want the public to lose faith in my company. I will take them to my favorite restaurant tonight. Some of the people I have contracts with will also be with them, hoping they will not take away their contracts from me, as most of my clients are leaving me for Bell Enterprises. I hope to salvage what I can.
Of course, I have to take Oliver with me. He needs to learn how to do business and to talk people into staying with us. He must know when to keep his mouth and when to speak.
However, when I get to the restaurant where Oliver is supposed to wait for me alone, he is there with his wife and Hannah. I sigh. Don't these women know that I don't want them here? This is a business meeting, a social gathering.
I look furiously at Oliver, who pulls up his shoulders to show me he has no say in them joining us. Sometimes, I wish my son would grow a backbone! There are times when you do not bring your woman with you. Sometimes, you have to charm your way into a business deal. Women are more easily convinced to work with men, especially if you flirt a little.
I look at Oliver and realize that it will not help him trying to flirt with any woman. He does not look like me. He looks more like his mother's side of the family.
I look at my ex-wife and do not know what I have seen in her. She's trying very hard to look younger. She's wearing too much makeup, and her fake boobs are making me nauseous. She had a lot of plastic surgery done.
"Oliver, I told you this was a business meeting, and I do not want anybody else around. What are your mother and wife doing here? You know this is a training session, and I want to train you to do business and communicate with our clients. It will be challenging with your mother and your wife here. We are not playing games. We are doing business, and I would appreciate it if you did not go behind my back and invite people with no interest in our company to our business meetings. You are indeed an i***t. I don't think I have any hope for you. I should have had more children. You are the Stark family's only hope, which makes me worry. I wish I had another son." I bark at Oliver.
I know I'm being hard on him, but he has to learn that business is not a pleasure, and he needs to start taking his future role as the CEO of Stark Enterprises seriously.
"Well, I am not like you, father. I am unlike a sailor with a girlfriend in every city he visits. It is time for you to start growing up, Father, and remarry Mother. You are not a young playboy anymore. Mother has been waiting for you for years. She always told me that you would return to her one day. I know you love her because you never had a serious relationship after Mom. Everything she did in her life was to please you, but you don't see it. Perhaps if you had been home and told me how to run the business since childhood, I would have been more interested in your business. I did not even want to study architecture. I did it to become closer to you. But you don't care. You only see my faults." Oliver shouts back at me.
I wouldn't say I like to make a scene in public, and I do not like Oliver raising his voice to me. I know Hannah has told him a bunch of lies. Does he think I have ever loved her? Did she tell him she drugged my drinks the night he was conceived to get me in her bed and got pregnant?
It makes me furious to think about it. Who the hell does Hannah think she is?
Hannah is playing all innocent. She knew I never loved her and was too young to get married. However, she did not stop until my parents made me marry her! She also knows I do not have a woman in every town, but she makes people believe it.
"Is that so? Why don't you ask your mother why we got married in the first place? Why don't you ask her why I never stayed at home? Why don't you ask her why she was such a pain in my ass that I did not even want to spend one night in the same town than her leave alone in the same house." I say.
"Why don't the two of you stop fighting? Since Belinda and I are here, we might join you for dinner. Perhaps we can help you outsmart Bell Enterprises for once. Maybe there will be gentlemen who will listen to women rather than men. I am sure the CEO of Bell Enterprises must be a young, beautiful woman who only gets contracts from men she sleeps with." Hannah changes the subject.
Still, I can see Oliver frowning and wonder if he is angry with me or his mother for not telling him everything. However, I do not have hope for Oliver, and I believe he will always think of his mother because he's a real mama's boy. I do not care anymore. I do not have any hope for him anymore.
"I would prefer you to keep your mouth shut and not interfere in my business. You have no business being here. I do not need your help, Hannah." I say coldly.
Oliver glares at me but says nothing. His eyes grow more prominent as he looks at a woman sitting at a table with a handsome young man.
I look at the woman, and my heart skips a beat as I see the woman I cannot get out of my mind and heart sitting across from the young man.
Valerie Morris has grown up and is even more beautiful than I remember. I have been looking for her for so long. Here she is, right in front of me. I cannot look away. I walk to her table. My legs are moving independently, and I can not stop them.
