Chapter 29 Figure it out yourself

1318 Words
Lugard's gaze turned icy, his eyes boring into Lisa's like a cold blade. "Figure it out yourself," he said, his voice dripping with disdain. With that, he slammed the door shut in front of her, leaving Lisa standing alone in the hallway, feeling stunned and confused. Lisa's eyes widened in shock as she stared at the closed door, her mind racing to understand what had just happened. She felt like she had been punched in the gut, her breath knocked out of her. She raised her hand to knock on the door again, but hesitated, feeling a sense of trepidation. What had she done to make this cold demon so angry? And what did he mean by "figure it out yourself"? Lisa's thoughts swirled in circles as she tried to make sense of the situation. She felt like she was missing something like there was a piece of the puzzle that she couldn't quite see. With a sense of determination, Lisa decided to find out what was going on. She turned and walked away from the door, her mind racing with possibilities. She was going to get to the bottom of this, no matter what it took. As she walked, Lisa's eyes narrowed, her jaw clenched in determination. She was not going to let Lugard's cryptic message defeat her. She was going to figure out what was going on, and she was going to make things right or even worse between them. The next day, Lisa woke up with a sense of determination. She was going to find out what was bothering Lugard and make things right between them. She got dressed and went downstairs, looking for him. As she entered the restaurant, she saw Lugard sitting at the table, sipping a cup of coffee. He looked up and saw her, but his expression didn't change. He just kept staring at her, his eyes cold and distant. Lisa felt a pang of hurt, but she didn't let it deter her. She walked over to the table and sat down across from him. "Mr Lu, we need to talk," she said, her voice firm but gentle. Lugard raised an eyebrow. "What's there to talk about?" he asked, his voice neutral. Lisa took a deep breath. "I want to know what's bothering you. You've been distant and cold, and I don't know what I've done to deserve it." Lugard sighed and rubbed his temples. "Lisa, I told you to figure it out yourself." Lisa shook her head. "I don't understand. Please, just tell me." Lugard looked up at her, his eyes searching. For a moment, Lisa thought she saw a glimmer of hope. But then his mask slipped back into place, and he stood up. "I have work to do," he said, his voice cold. "Leave me alone, little troublemaker." And with that, he walked out of the restaurant, leaving Lisa feeling frustrated and defeated. But she refused to give up. She was going to find out what was bothering Lugard, no matter what it took. Who is he even calling a little troublemaker?! Lisa chased after Lugard, but he ignored her and kept walking towards his car in the parking lot. It was a sleek, black, luxurious vehicle that seemed to gleam in the sunlight. The car was a limited edition Bentley Mulsanne, with a price tag of over a million dollars. Its sleek design and polished finish seemed to radiate wealth and power. As Lugard reached the car, he opened the door and slid into the driver's seat. The interior was just as impressive as the exterior, with soft, cream-colored leather and polished wood trim. The dashboard was equipped with the latest technology, including a state-of-the-art infotainment system and a navigation system that could guide him anywhere in the world. Lugard started the engine, and the car purred to life, its V8 engine rumbling softly. He put the car in gear and began to drive away, leaving Lisa standing in the driveway, feeling frustrated and defeated. As he drove off, Lisa couldn't help but feel a sense of awe at the sheer wealth and power that Lugard possessed. He was the richest man in the country, with a business empire that spanned the globe. His car was just one symbol of his success, a reminder of the vast resources at his disposal. Despite her frustration, Lisa couldn't help but feel a twinge of admiration for Lugard's success. She knew that he had worked hard to build his business empire, and she couldn't help but respect him for that. But she also knew that she couldn't give up. She had to find out what was bothering him, and she had to make things right between them. As Lisa returned to the villa, she saw the butler, Jenkins, standing in the doorway. He greeted her with a warm smile, his eyes crinkling at the corners. "Good morning, Miss Lisa," he said, his voice low and smooth. Lisa nodded and greeted him back, feeling a sense of comfort at the familiar sight of the butler's friendly face. "Good morning, Jenkins," she replied, her voice a little softer than usual. Jenkins' smile faltered for a moment, and he looked at her with a concerned expression. "Is everything all right, Miss Lisa?" he asked, his voice tinged with worry. Lisa hesitated, unsure of how much to reveal. But something about Jenkins' kind eyes put her at ease, and she found herself opening up to him. "I'm not sure, Jenkins," she said, her voice barely above a whisper. "Lugard is being distant and cold, and I don't know what I've done to deserve it." Jenkins' expression turned sympathetic, and he nodded understandingly. "I see," he said, his voice low. "Well, Miss Lisa, sometimes Mr. Lugard can be a bit...prickly. But I'm sure he'll come around eventually." As she walked past the butler, Lisa paused and looked at him, her eyes searching for answers. "Jenkins, you've been with Young Master Lugard for a long time, haven't you?" she asked, her voice gentle. Jenkins nodded, his expression neutral. "Yes, Miss Lisa. I've had the pleasure of serving the Young Master for many years." Lisa's eyes narrowed slightly. "Did I do anything to offend him?" she asked, her voice barely above a whisper. "I feel like I've done something wrong, but I don't know what it is." Jenkins hesitated, his eyes flicking to the side before returning to Lisa's face. "I'm not sure, Miss Lisa," he said, his voice cautious. "But I do know that the Young Master has been under a lot of stress lately. Perhaps it's not you, but rather the circumstances that are causing his distance." Lisa's eyes widened slightly, her mind racing with possibilities. What could be causing Lugard's stress? And what circumstances could be affecting his behavior towards her? She felt a surge of determination, knowing that she had to get to the bottom of this. Perhaps maybe you are the cause. The butler said calmly. Lisa's eyes narrowed slightly, her mind racing with Jenkins' words. "Do you mean, I'm the cause of his stress?" she asked, her voice firm. Jenkins nodded, his expression unchanging. "Yes, Miss Lisa. The Young Master said that you should figure it out yourself." Lisa felt a surge of frustration, her hands clenching into fists. "That's not fair," she said, her voice rising. "I don't know what I've done wrong, and he won't even tell me." Jenkins' expression softened slightly, his eyes filled with a hint of sympathy. "I'm sorry, Miss Lisa. But perhaps it's better if you do figure it out yourself. The Young Master can be...prickly, at times." Lisa took a deep breath, her mind racing with possibilities. She knew that she had to find out what was bothering this handsome cold face and she was determined to do just that. "Thank you, Jenkins," she said, her voice firm. "I'll figure it out, don't worry."
