"Is that all you can do?" Lisa asked. Mera smiled and said, "I don't have to do anything to you since you will enter hell soon. I am very, very happy, that's why I didn't plan to do anything to you for slapping me." Lisa folded her hands and smirked. "Are you sure you don't want to get revenge on me for slapping you?" Mera remained silent for a while before saying, "I will just let it go and consider it a goodbye favor, but I won't let it go next time," she said before leaving. Lisa smiled as she didn't prevent Mera from leaving; she simply stood behind her bed, watching Mera, whom she had cared for when she was just a little girl, as she left the room. When Lisa and Mera were young, Mera was a cute and beautiful girl who always stick around Lisa, both at school and at home. But now, Mera talks to her arrogantly without any respect and even schemes against her behind her back. She wishes her death and bad luck, and she is even happy that Lisa will marry a ruthless man who is rumored to be a beast. Lisa was aware of everything her stepsister had done in the past, but she chose not to confront her. However, one day she decided to confront her younger sister and reprimand her for framing her. Mrs Claire her stepmother punished her and she even locked her up in a dark room and starved her for days. When Lisa was just 10 years old. If not for the servant Victoria who brings her food in secret, she didn't even know how she will sovive back then. Her father went on a business trip, he didn't know what happened back then and her stepmother warned her not to say a word to her dad or she would kill her. Mrs. Davis looks at her husband, feeling upset and regretful. She regrets that she didn't have the chance to teach Lisa a lesson because of her husband's presence. She is angry because her husband didn't punish or scold Lisa for slapping her previous daughter. Instead, he called her by her full name because of his "stupid daughter." Lisa. "John," she called her husband by his name. Mr. John Davis was surprised. This was the first time she called him by his name after so many years. He looked at his angry wife and asked what was wrong. as if he had no clue. Mrs. Claire Davis was even more annoyed by her husband's indifferent attitude. She raised her hand and pointed at him. "I am saying this for the last time: my daughter will not marry that despicable, disgusting man from the Miller family," Claire said firmly. "Claire," Mr. Davis shouted her name and pointed at her, "and warned her: stop saying that about my friend's son." Mrs. Claire looked at her husband and nodded her head as if she understood. "Oh, I see. I should not call him names. Who is he to you that you are protecting him like this? Hey, Mr. Davis," she pointed at her husband again, "if you know what's best for you, destroy your friendship with that Miller family. They are not the only friends you have, and they are not the only richest family in this city. "They are supposed to be ashamed of themselves instead of looking for a wife for an ugly beast that no longer even performs his duties as a man. It's better they disown him and have another son than leave with a wasted garbage-like son of his." "Claire, watch your mouth," Mr. Davis slammed his hand on the table and warned angrily. "Mr. Davis, I'm telling you once and for all, my daughter will never marry that animal Miller Lugard of a thing." Mr. Davis held his head in a headache and anger and asked, "Claire, what do you want me to do then? The Miller family had their eyes on our daughter Mera." Claire looked at her husband seriously and said with dangerous eyes, "I don't care whether they like my daughter or not. I don't like them, and my daughter Mera doesn't like them because their son is useless and too scary." Mrs Claire said sharply. Mr. Davis held his heart, thinking deeply. "John Davis," his wife called his name again and said, "Don't act as if you don't have any other options. Have you forgotten you have two daughters? Since the marriage will not work out with Mera, you can replace Lisa to be the bride. That is the only way you can fulfill your promise. If you don't want to fulfill your promise or agreement, you can end the marriage," she said seriously. Mr. Davis just kept quiet without saying a word as if he was thinking of what to do. Mrs. Claire saw her husband in deep thought and said, "If you don't know what to do, I advise you to let Lisa get married to the Millers' son. They will also like her because she's also your daughter, and besides, they are a perfect match." she said. Mr. Davis looked at his wife morkingly It wasn't clear who he was murking himself or his wife. "I married you to take care of Lisa, to train her, and to protect her as your daughter, but it seems that you don't like Lisa at all. Mr John Davis said with a pained expression. "Just now you were fighting for your daughter not to get married to Miller Lugard, and you immediately asked me to replace Lisa to marry Miller Lugard without blinking an eye." thinking twice. Mr Davis said. Mrs Claire Davis felt panicked in her heart. She bit her tongue and said seriously. What did you want me to say, she's also your daughter do you expect me to plead for her, she's your daughter and not mine so I can't make decisions for her because even if I do you will not agree, I just suggested, the decision lies in your hands to make. If you don't want her to marry that demon from the Miller family, you can cut off the engagement. After she finished speaking she walked out and slammed the door short. Mr. Davis looked at the closed door, breathed a sigh of tiredness, picked up his phone, and dialed a number. The other party picked up the call immediately. "Hello old friend, what's up?" Mr. Miller asked. "Hello Philip," Mr. Davis said. "My old friend, why is your mood so low? What's up?" Mr. Miller Philip asked. "The marriage will not work out," Mr. Davis said. Mr. Miller was not surprised and asked what happened. "My wife is not in support of the marriage, and my daughter refused to marry your son," Mr. Davis said seriously with his wine glass in his hand. Mr. Miller just stood on the balcony looking around and said, "I knew your wife and daughter would refuse to marry my son." After hanging up the phone, Mr. Davis lay down on the bed to take a few minutes rest. In Lisa's room, she lay on the bed searching for online information about Miller Lugard. All the information she found was the same as what she already knew, including the tragic accident that led to his disfigured face, making him look ugly and terrifying. She saw many horrifying photos of his disfigured face and her heart pounded in her chest. "So this is how he looks," she said to herself, holding her chest, tears forming around her eyes. Knock, knock. The sounds of someone knocking at her door filled the room. She wiped her tears and asked, "Who is that?" "It's Dad knocking," her dad replied. She stood up, unlocked the door, and opened it. Mr. Davis entered her room, looked at his daughter's beautiful face, and smiled as he called her name. "Lili, will you hate Daddy if he asks you to marry the Miller family's son?" he asked, noticing her change of mood. Sure enough, Lisa knew this day would come. All her small dreams and happiness were about to be shattered into a million pieces.
