________________________ . . . My parents were at the foot of the stairs, sitting at the last step. "What are you guys doing here?" They both jumped to their feet and turned to face me. "Baby, you okay?" Dad-I asked. "Give me a name and I will go make him wish he wasn't even born!" Dad-D looked so angry. Of course they had heard me cry and given what they saw in the morning, they knew what it was about. See, I love them so so much. I smiled softly and closed the distance between us, hugging the both of them. They enveloped me in their arms, so that now I was sandwiched between them. "I love you two." "We both love you more than you can ever imagine." Dad-D kissed my hairline. "That's why we are ready to throw hands if you want us to." Dad-I said, making me chuckle. "That boy needs to know what happens when he breaks the heart of a girl with two dads." I pulled away from the hug and looked up at my parents with a smile on my face. "If I want to kick asses, I will kick it. But seriously, I am fine." "Baby-" "Harry and I are having a sleepover so I am going to the store to get some snacks." "Oh." Dad-I quickly pulled out his wallet and passed me his credit card. "Get whatever you want." "Okay." "Have fun." Dad-D hugged me again and Dad-I soon joined me. We stayed like that for a few more minutes. I opened my eyes to see Aleena looking at us with heart eyes. I smiled at her and then pulled out of the hug. "I will be back within the hour." . . . "You have such amazing parents." Aleena sighed as we walked hand in hand towards the intersection. "Susan is an amazing mom too." I turned to her. "She loves you three so so much." Aleena nodded but sighed again. "I know this is selfish but I wish she was there more, and that she would let me get a part time job and shoulder half of the responsibilities. But she just doesn't." "Two more years of high school and you are going to college. She wants you to get a full scholarship dude. That's why she doesn't want you to be burdened with any other responsibilities." I told her the fact that the both of us already knew. She nodded again. "Alright. See you at school tomorrow." She let go of my hand when we reached the intersection. I waved at her and turned around. I hadn't taken two steps when I heard the screeching of a car and felt the air get knocked out of my lungs, excruciating pain taking over all of my senses as I hit the hood of the car and then tumbled to the ground. I felt like my hair was drenched and I could smell the stench of rust. "Hope!!!!" I know that sound. Whose was it again? . . . "I need to go home." "Hope..." In my blurry vision, I could make out my best friend's silhouette. "I told my dads that I would be back within the hour." I said. "They will here soon." I finally remembered where I had heard this voice. It was my best friend, Aleena's. "They are on their way." She said. "They will be here soon." "What?" I was confused, but before she could reply, I was wheeled into a room with big bright lights on the ceiling and then everything blacked out one more time. . . . My eyes felt so heavy that it took all my energy to open them, but I regretted it as soon as the blinding lights hit my eyes. I shut them immediately, a whine escaping my lips as I placed my forearm over my eyes to block out the light. "Baby?" Dad-I's voice reached my ears. "Dad..." I whispered out. I could hear the closing off the blinds and I peeked through squinted eyes to see that the room was dimmer. I moved my arm and blinked at my dad. "Are you okay, honey?" There were tears in his eyes and it was rare for either of my parents to cry. "I am." My throat felt dry and scratchy but I still managed to croak out. My dad pressed the call button next to my bed and sat down next to me, taking my hand in his and kissing it. I took in the room. I was in a hospital room which looked more expensive than the ones I had seen before. Then again, I had never been admitted to a hospital myself because I steered clear of harm. I tried to move but stopped immediately when a dull pain coursed through my spine. I tried to look down but realized that there was a brace around my neck. I could see my right leg though, clad in a nice grey cast and hanging from the frame thingy. Suddenly, the door was pushed open and a couple of people rushed in, surrounding me. I managed to catch a glimpse of my other dad before both of them were shooed out by a nurse. I was asked a million question which I had to answer though all I wanted was to see my parents. They informed me that I had been in a coma. I could not believe it. Being comatose was something I had always attributed to movies and books; I never thought I would be in one one day. It had been two weeks since the accident. That's all the information I got before they resumed checking my vitals and stuff and I was quick to learn that my right arm was also broken. Lucky that I was left-handed. After what seemed like a millennium, they finally left the room, except for one nurse who was administering medicine on to my IV drip. "My little girl!" Dad-D walked in, his arms held out followed by Dad-I. "You scared us, little one." He hugged me as gently as possibly, pressing his cheek against mine. I could feel the tears trickling down his face. "I am okay now, Dad-D." I turned my head and placed a kiss on his cheek. Dad-I walked over to the other side of the bed and sat down on the stool, wiping his eyes. "Young lady, don't you ever scare us like that ever again!" He pretended to be mad at me though it was crystal clear from his expression that he was just happy to have me back. And I was happy to be back with my parents. "What exactly happened?" I asked. . . . ___________________________
