CHAPTER SEVEN -- Distancing

There was this weird dream that I had last night. I was riding something... it wasn't a car, bike, or any transportations that we use to travel to go somewhere far because it was an animal. It was a big silver-furred werewolf with enchanting red eyes. It's weird cause doesn't werewolves have yellowish or pitch-black eyes?

But instead of feeling wary about it, I have trusted him without a doubt as he let me witness the wonders of nature that were hidden beyond the forest, it was very fascinating. I saw a waterfall, a river, a crystal cave, and a breathtaking view above the mountains. I don't know why I understand everything he was saying cause he's a freaking animal! He said that he'll reveal his human self, but when he was about to change, I woke up.

I was busy daydreaming about it again when someone interrupted my train of thought.

"So, who's the guy?" I immediately eyed Cass who is now grinning at me weirdly. We have the same class today in Physics, Zionel and the rest of the group were nowhere to be found.

"W-What guy?" I asked her, slightly confused.

"Well... It looks like you're thinking very deeply, I just thought it might be because of a guy," she said while tilting her head at me like she was observing a weird specimen, so I just shrugged.

"N-No I was just remembering something about my dream last night cause it was weird but anyways why didn't I have noticed you in our P.E class yesterday? Didn't we have the same schedule?" I curiously asked, causing her body to stiffen like I have asked something I shouldn't have.

"O-Oh about that, I have some errands that I needed to do on that hour that's why," she said while laughing nervously.

"I see..." I said and diverted my attention to the lesson that was being discussed. A few minutes later, the bell has rung, Cass and I were just busy talking to each other when someone called us.

"Babe! Sup lady!" Carson shouted from the hallway who is now running towards us while glancing at Cass and me.

"Hey!" I greeted and was literally shocked when Cass immediately kissed Carson right in front of me the moment they have seen each other. I was there standing in between them watching them being so lovey-dovey with each other after their kiss. Some people don't really know the word respect now do we? Just kidding!

"You guys were a thing?!" I screamed and both of them reacted like they just suddenly remembered I was there. Great!

"O-Oh I forgot to tell you about this.. yeah she's my ma--err... g-girlfriend," Carson said, slightly stuttering while scratching the back of his head with Cass playfully hitting his arms.

"S-Sorry Rave I forgot to tell you... but you didn't ask me though!" Cass shyly said, aw she’s blushing. She looks so happy.

"Well it doesn't matter now.. you guys look perfect for each other!" I squealed and both of them just laughed at me as we proceeded to the cafeteria to get our lunch.

"Raven! Cass! Carson! Over here!" Our heads immediately turned on the right side of our cafeteria, seeing Yuna over there waving her hands exaggeratedly. On her side were Charisse, Liam, and Zach eating like construction workers, there are so many foods on their table!

Some people started to murmur things I can't quite understand and I just didn't mind them as we proceeded on the chairs with our lunch. Where is he? And wait why am I looking for him?!

"Hey Rave!" Yuna shouted again even though we're almost already near them. I playfully shook my head, feeling the corners of my lips lift as I placed my tray on their table.

"Hey, guys!" I greeted them and the eating guys just stared at me to smile and continued munching on their foods after, I just laughed and did the same.

"Don't mind them, they're practically having a buffet over here," Yuna whispered to us and I just laughed even more.

"So beautiful," we all became silent after hearing that deep voice.

I turned my head to him, flinching when I realized that he's already staring at me. I was literally gulping the food that I was eating at the sight of him.

"Good afternoon Ravey," Zionel said in a deep, calm voice that sounded like a beautiful melody in my ears. I know his nickname to me sounds a bit childish, but why do I feel so special about it?

"G-Good afternoon," I greeted back and finally stared at my food again to eat it, I moaned in delight after tasting their beef and mushrooms meal, the food in this University is so good! I heard something growls again so this time, I’ve searched my surroundings.

"Did you guys heard that?" I curiously asked, causing them to look at me.

"Heard what Rave?" Charisse asked as she takes mouthful bites of her French fries.

"The growling animal? I've been hearing it since like yesterday," I muttered, causing Liam and Zach to choke on their food while Charisse, Yuna, Carson, and Cass laughed.

"What? Are you guys hearing it too?" I curiously asked until they eyed something at my side before looking at me.

"N-No, no Rave maybe you're just overhearing things," Charisse mumbled, making them laugh even more causing me to be more confused. What's so funny about that? I just shrugged and continued to eat my food.

"Hey Rave we have watched your game yesterday, you were pretty cool up there huh?" Liam commented while eating his second cheesy burger.

"Yeah true, a powerful spike for a human being, I'm impressed," Zach commented, so both Liam and he just laughed. I just shook my head with their jokes, after I have finished my meal someone talked again.

"That's good but you have to eat more, here take my dessert," I glanced at Zionel, who is now sitting right beside me while placing his chocolate cake next to my empty plate.

"I-I can't take that... it's yours," I mumbled trying to stop my mouth from saying 'really? thanks!' it's really embarrassing. How can I refuse cakes?! They're my favorites.

I saw him flashing his ever so sexy smirk as he gets a utensil from his tray and took a tablespoon of the delicious cake before facing me again.

"Here, have a bite say ah," he offers casually which made my eyes widened, why the heck is he doing this?! I tried to glance at my surroundings. Yuna's the only one who is watching us intently while the rest of them tried not to watch us but, of course, they failed about that.

"E-Err I can feed myself you know?" I stated a fact, making the boys laugh and Zionel immediately glared at them causing them to shut their mouths. Weird.

"I know, please just one bite?" he asked like he was begging, so I just shook my head and immediately took what he was offering. He smiled genuinely looking so pleased with what I did. His red eyes were glinting with desire and joy.

He looks more handsome when he's smiling. Feeling my cheeks starting to heat up from staring at him, I diverted my attention to the cake again.

"Hey, Raven!"

I know that voice. I immediately eyed Jason who's now smiling at me right in front of our table. His cute dimples are showing again.

"Oh hey, Jason! Have you eaten your lunch yet?" I asked hearing something growls, but I didn't mind it maybe I'm just really overhearing things.

He eyed the people around our table causing his smile to fade away, "Yes I did... It looks like you have made friends with them huh?"

I frowned at his statement, what does he mean about that? I immediately felt the heavy tension right in front of our table.

"Watch it hunter boy or you--!" I heard Zach said while slamming the table as he stands up. I eyed our surroundings we're getting the attention of the whole cafeteria.

"Or I what? You can't give me threats like that Zach," Jason said while smirking. Liam tried to make Zach sit, calming him down but he didn't bother to listen.

"Jason what are you doing and what do you mean about that? Please don't make a scene here," I asked slightly annoyed. He finally faced me again and smiled.

"I just don't think you'll fit in here now that you have decided to join us," he said making me more confused.

"What the f**k are you talking about Jason Lee?" I have literally frozen again in my seat when Zionel talked. He sounded so pissed.

"She's joining our Hunter Organization, am I right Raven?" Jason nonchalantly asked, so I just nodded at him.

"Yes, and so what about that?" After I have said those words, they all have eyed me, shock and pain evident among their eyes.

"I-Is this true Rave?" I heard Charisse asked like she's begging me to answer no that made my eyebrows furrow.

"Yes my dad let me join for my--" before I could even finish my explanation, someone slammed their fist into our table causing me to jolt up in shock.

"I can't believe you," Zach mumbled in an almost pained voice while leaving the table with Liam, not finishing their food. Yuna with her head down was being taken away with Charisse with pain visible in both of their eyes. What did I do wrong?

I curiously eyed Jason and noticed that he wasn't there anymore. Cass and Carson were now leaving, but I decided to stop them.

"Wait.. guys why are you leaving what's wrong?" I asked, still can't figure out what just happened.

"I-I'm sorry but I can't talk to you right now Raven and please if you don't mind... leave me alone," Cass said in a very disappointed tone as she left. Carson looks like he didn't want to leave, but he had followed Cass instead.

"Why did you join them?" I glanced at Zionel, he's not smiling anymore. He looks so seriously frozen right now that I can't read his emotions anymore.

"I-It's because--" before I could even finish my sentence again the bell rang meaning our lunch break is now over. I looked at his eyes, and I don't know why but it glinted with pain for a moment.

"Never mind, Goodbye Raven," he stood up and left, leaving me dumbfounded by the words that he has said. What just happen? Why do I feel like I'm going to faint right now?

I left the cafeteria alone with several eyes not leaving my whole structure, but I didn't bother to mind them. I just don't understand why would they act like that? And most especially why would Jason treat them like that? I shrugged and just went to my next class even though I'm feeling a bit dizzy.

I have two classes left for this afternoon and I know that the group has the same class schedule like mine, but they didn't attend those subjects so I ended up sitting alone at the center tables. I was hoping they would show up cause there are so many questions that I wanted them to answer.

After the rest of my classes none of them showed up, I heave a sigh and thread my bag lightly on my right shoulder. When I was on my way out, I saw Yuna on her lockers so I called her, but she just ran away.

With that, I already knew what's happening, they're ignoring me. I felt my heartache for a moment, why are they ignoring me now? What did I do wrong? Tears suddenly rolled down to my cheeks for some unknown reason. I wiped those tears away and continued walking.

I wasn't born like this, I didn't even cry when I left my friends in the big city... why does that group of people have affected me so much?

With my thoughts flying around somewhere above the slightly orange sky, I immediately went to my car and drove home. My dad texted me that our training will be a bit early this afternoon.

After parking the car in our garage, I immediately went upstairs to get dressed with my Nike leggings, white windbreaker jacket and paired it up with my black running shoes for my training.

I bid my mom goodbye and went outside to notice that Jason's already there, maybe he's here to come and pick me up. I didn't say a word so he just went towards me.

"H-Hey... I-I'm sorry about earlier--" he keeps on muttering things that I really don't want to hear at the moment while scratching the back of his head. I felt a familiar gaze from somewhere, I tried to look around but I saw no one so I just shrugged.

"Let's just go," I said while walking away. I didn't know if I was being rude or what, but I wasn't really in a mood for chit chats.
