Chapter 2

345 Words
Michelles POV “Hey baby. How did you sleep,” asked my mother. I had just taken a shower and came down for breakfast. Mom had her back to me scrambling some eggs. I could tell she had a new bruise because she was making sure she didn’t show me her face. “I slept good mom. Where’s dad?” I asked making sure it was safe before I asked what I really wanted to know. “He had to go into the office early today for a meeting. He has to work late today too so it’s just me, and you all day.,” she said. “Mom show me your face. Let me see. Please.” “I know he hurt you. That’s the only time you never let me see your face. Please let me see.,” My mother took a deep breath and slowly turned around for me. She dropped her head, and I could hear the hitches in her breathing that let me know she was crying. I ran over to her. Her left eye was bloodshot. She had a hand print on her cheek. Her lip was busted & there was a bruise around her neck. That bastard had choked her! “Mom you can’t let him keep doing this to you!!! He’s going to kill you!!!,” I screamed. “I can’t lose you mom. I love dad too, but I love you more. Dad isn’t the same guy from high school anymore mom. He’s a monster!” “I have to get you out of here. It’s not fair to you or me that he does this. I need you!” “Please mom. Im begging.” I reached around her to move the eggs that were starting to burn on the stove. I took her hand, and sat her on the couch. I hugged her close to me and played with her curly hair. Just as I had when I were younger. My mother was truly beautiful. Despite the years of abuse her beauty was radiant.
