Chapter 005 ~ Dangerous temptress

1626 Words
~SAPPHIRE~ The day I’ve waited for was finally here — The Ceremony. To say I was happy was an understatement. I was elated, but my instincts told me not to be too excited until everything works out perfectly. But I couldn’t stop thinking about how the expression on Gavin’s face would be when he sees what I have in store for him today. I wore a stunning black gown that hugged my curves in all the right places, complimenting my slender figure and giving me an air of mystery and intrigue. The gown was sleeveless, exposing my shoulders and back in a daring display of skin. It fell to the floor in a cascade of luxurious fabric, giving me the appearance of a dangerous temptress. Around my neck, I wore a black choker adorned with a single diamond that glinted in the light, adding a touch of elegance and sophistication to my overall look. I matched it with black stilettos and let my hair fall in waves. Taking one last look in the mirror, my lips curved into a smile. “Perfect,” I whispered and stepped out of the house. My eyes widened when I saw Leon, leaning on his car. I hurried to where he stood and poked his forehead. “What are you doing here? I asked you to stay in the bar. We can’t afford any mistakes today.” Leon rolled his eyes and folded his arms. “C’mon, Sapph. I didn’t want to miss the drama for the world,” he said, running his hand through his hair. “You don‘t have to worry about the bar. Everything is under control.” I sighed and nodded. I trusted Leon and if he said everything was under control, then there was nothing to be worried about. “Fine then,” Leon whistled as he took me in. “You look so hot and dangerous, girlie,” he held my hand and turned me around so he could get a better look. “Totally Kaiden’s type.” “Shut up, Leon,” I scoffed and rounded my way to the car door. I opened it and slid into the front seat while Leon got on as well. As we drove to the Palace, Leon wouldn’t stop going on and on about how Kaiden would swoon on seeing me and at a point, I got tired and turned to look at him with a glare. “My focus is revenge, Leon,” I said, my voice laced with seriousness. “Quit all these romance talks. I’m not interested and so is Kaiden.” Leon shrugged, showing that he didn’t bother, but it was better because he stopped talking and that was exactly what I needed. We arrived at the Palace and I got down first, making my way to the grand hall big enough to contain thousands of people. I smiled. Alpha Thane had used this grand hall so it would be easier for everyone to watch the duel between Kaiden and Gavin. When I had approached Kaiden, and he turned me down, I thought it was over because he was my only ticket to getting to a position where Gavin would have to bow to me. I had to summon every courage and wit in me to convince him, and I’m glad he gave in. As I stepped into the grand hall, a hush fell over the crowd. All eyes turned to me, and I felt the weight of their attention like a heavy cloak around my shoulders. But I decided not to mind them. Today, they would have no choice but to accept me—the girl they’ve always ridiculed and looked down on—as their Luna to be. Gavin stood at the front of the room, dressed in a regal blue suit that made him look every inch the arrogant prince he was. He saw me, and his expression darkened. Gavin scoffed and approached me while everyone watched to see what would happen. “You!” he seethed, sizing me with his eyes like I was some piece of trash. “What are you doing here? You shouldn’t be here.” “Why?” I asked, trying to keep my anger from remembering what he made me go through at bay. “Are you afraid I might outshine you today?” Gavin scoffed. “You wish!” he gave me a look of disgust. “You are nothing but a piece of trash; something I used and dumped. You aren’t worth even a single attention.” That hit hard, but I clenched my fists, trying my best to suppress the rage that was building inside me. I forced a smile to my face. “For a useless and stupíd daddy’s boy, you sure have a lot of balls,” I clapped back and everyone began whispering to themselves. Gavin’s smirk disappeared from his face replaced with a frown. He roughly grabbed my hand and began dragging me out. “You don’t deserve to be here! I’ll throw you out this instant!” “Who says you could do that?” Kaiden’s voice rang through the hall and everywhere became as silent as a graveyard. We turned towards the door, and he stood there, looking like his usual self in a sleek black suit. He didn’t put any effort into dressing up, but he still looked amazing. He tucked his hand into his pocket and began walking to where I and Gavin stood, every step he took giving me goosebumps. Gavin’s grip on my hand loosened, causing me to sneer. He feared Kaiden. Kaiden stopped in front of us, his face devoid of any emotions. “Hands off her,” he ordered but Gavin hesitated. Kaiden’s expression hardened. “Hands off her right now,” his voice was low and dangerous, sending cold chills to run down my spine and I bet I wasn’t the only one because it seemed everyone in the hall held their breaths; no one dared to make a sound. Gavin let go of me while Kaiden pulled me to his side. “She is with me,” he said, and I saw Gavin raise a brow, confusion lining his features while the people murmured to themselves. “Where is your Luna to be, Gavin? Did you cheat on her and chose someone else?” I asked, mockery dripping from my every word, but Gavin didn’t dare to speak. Kaiden held my hand and led me to a seat in front. He sat down, his expression already warning me not to say a word to him. I took a deep breath and tucked a strand of hair behind my ears as I took a seat as well. From the corner of my eyes, I could see Kaiden’s eyes on me, causing the hair on my skin to stand, but I tried my best to ignore it. The gong sounded, and we all stood to our feet as the Alpha, Luna, and the elders marched to the front. Alpha Thane’s gaze met with mine as he walked past me and Kaiden, his face a mixture of anger and a silent warning. My eyes darted to Luna Darlene, their mother, who also adored Gavin more than Kaiden. I wonder what they saw in that ídiot anyway. ‘Says the girl who loved him to death a few days ago.’ I mentally slapped myself. He wasn’t worth the love anyway. He proved that himself. Alpha Kane sat down and we followed suit. My eyes darted toward Gavin who was seated, facing me and Kaiden, and he looked restless. Camille still hadn’t come and the ceremony already started. While the opening speech and other stuff were going on, Gavin would stare at his phone and the door at intervals. “Now, it’s time to introduce the princes and their Luna to be. Remember, the lady you step out with today will be your Luna after you are chosen as the Crown Prince. So be cautious and make sure you know what you are doing,” The Priestess said, her eyes darting to Kaiden and Gavin. “Prince Gavin, come forward with your Luna to be,” A smirk formed on my lips when Gavin rose to his feet, sadness and worry written all over his face with Camille nowhere to be found. I couldn’t help wondering why she called Gavin’s name first when Kaiden was the older one, but Kaiden didn’t seem bothered by it so why should I? “I’m sorry, but my Luna to be will be a little late.” he answered. The Priestess frowned. “Any wolf who doesn’t value time isn’t fit to be the Luna,” she said and everyone gasped. “Come forward Prince Kaiden with your Luna to be.” Gavin sneered, “I doubt he has any she-wolf willing to associate with him. He’s that despicable.” Kaiden rose to his feet, his icy stare fixed on Gavin. “You’re mistaken, brother,” he said, a sly smile spreading across his face as he turned to me and extended his hand. “My future Luna is right here.” I took his hand, and he pulled me to my feet. Gavin’s eyes went wide, and the pack members gasped in shock. Even Alpha Thane looked stunned, clearly not expecting me to be Kaiden’s choice. Gavin took a step forward, his voice trembling. “S-S-Sapphire, you’re…?” I flashed a triumphant smirk. “The one and only,” I said, turning to face Alpha Thane, whose face was purple with rage. The air was electric with tension, and I could barely contain my excitement. It was time to play the game.
