Noelle’s POV
“Elle! You need to get up, and you have school!” “I am up, Ma,” I yelled back to my mother, who adopted me when no one else did. I was up for an hour trying to keep the man Rory and I met yesterday out of our heads even though we barely saw him.
“Elle, I think we will meet our mate today.” “Same here, Rory. I wonder if the same man we met yesterday is the next Beta?” “Maybe that would mean we would become the beta female and the pack doctor in training.” I agreed with Rory as we ended our conversation in our private connection. I left my room with my book bag slung over my shoulder and yelled to my ma that I was going to school now in my school uniform, which consisted of black leggings, a short plaided skirt, black shoes, and a white dress shirt with the school blazer over the shirt.
I walked into the school grounds to see everyone in their circles, talking with their friends, when I saw Brittany and her crew standing in front of the front doors. I sighed, knowing that today would be one of those days where I will have to run again to find a safe place to hide. “Rory, we should head through the back doors before they see us.” “Right, just go now,” Rory told me, and that is what I did. I left before they even saw me, but my luck was not on my side today as I saw Jessie and his friends from the pack sitting at the back table. The fear clawed its way into my heart, and I knew if I did not start running now, I would be getting another beat down from them.
“Rory, what do we do?” “Uhm, maybe if we stay quiet and sneak by them, they might not see us?” I sighed at Rory’s worried tone, as we both did not know what to do in this situation. I quietly made my way behind their table, careful not to make a sound, and once I was inside the school, I took off running down the hall towards my first class of the day, which was History class with a new teacher.
The moment I stepped inside the classroom, I smelt the same scent from last night but stronger than it was last night. My eyes widened when I saw him, and I blushed at how handsome he was with his deep brown hair held back into a man's bun and bright round blue eyes that could look deep into your soul. His facial structure was beautiful with high cheekbones, full pouty lips and thin arched brown eyes, brows raised in surprise, it seemed. I could not move from my spot, knowing that whoever this man was, he was my destined mate, and I was scared to meet him and worried that he might be rejected because of who and what I am.
“Noelle?” I shook my head to get rid of my thoughts when I heard his deep voice reach out to me. I looked him in the eyes, blushing like a tomato. “Y-Yes.” “Come here, little one.” I walked over to him, holding onto my bag tightly, worried about what would happen. “Hey, sweetheart, don’t cry. I’m right here.” I did not realize I was crying till he said something, and his large hands wiped my tears away.
I did not know what to do, so I did what I thought was right. I wrapped my arms around Dorian’s neck, taking in his strong ocean sandalwood scent, letting it calm me down as he held me close to his body.
“Shh, my baby. I am right here, and I will not leave you ever.” I nodded, not wanting to say anything if this was a dream. “Alright, my sweet baby. We need to talk before the bell and the other students arrive.” “Alright, Dory,” I whispered in his ear, sniffling and hiding my red face back into his neck, not wanting to let go of him. I heard his deep chuckle as he picked me up from my thighs and wrapped me around his muscular body.
We sat together in his chair, with me on his lap and resting my head on his shoulder as he held me to him, rubbing my back and soothing Rory and me. “Little one, you are my mate, and I accept you. I do not care that you are a werefox; you are my special girl, and I promise you I will do everything in my power to show you how much you already mean to me.” I was stunned, speechless, not realizing that he would go to great lengths to be with me, even with my insecurities and everything else.
“T-Thank you, and I accept you as well, my mate,” I told him, gently peeking at him. His blue eyes were gentle and soft, but I knew he was the Beta for a reason, and I was proud to be his mate.
“You do not need to thank me, my sweet vixen. I felt last night that you were my mate, but I wanted to confirm when I found out that your birthday was today. So, my sweet vixen. Happy birthday and I will sit with you at lunch so we can celebrate your day together. We might have a few others join us, but I am sure everything will be all right.” I giggled at Dorian’s enthusiasm about us being mates and him trying to make my day better.
“Alright, I don’t mind at all,” I told him, kissing his cheek and getting off his lap so I could take my seat near his desk. My face flushed red as he gave him a smirk and kissed my forehead before the bell rang for class to start. I ignore the other students, and the human females try to flirt with my mate. I was amused watching him teach us and move around the room to help everyone. I let out a few giggles, hiding them behind my textbook, feeling his hot gaze on me as he glared at me playfully.
“This is not funny, little one.” “Yes, it is Dory. You are handsome, and I knew this would happen. But, in the end, you are my mate and my beta warrior.” “That, my dear, is true. As you are my beautiful little vixen, my sweet doctor, my beta female.” I made eye contact with him as we talked through our pack mind link, as we are not connected just yet with our private mate link.
I gave him a sweet smile and giggled at him as he gave me a weird, funny look crossing his eyes. I shook my head at my silly mate, not caring if the other students saw us, as he made my morning brighter by just being himself.
**
All morning I could not stop and thought that I would be the beta female and mated to one of the strongest warriors in our pack. I walked towards the lunchroom ignoring everyone sitting down with their friends when I saw Brittany and her crew sitting at a few tables to the side near the back door.
I quickly made it to the lunch lane, grabbed my lunch, and sat at my table in the back of the lunchroom, away from everyone. Before taking the first bite of my lunch, I knew my mate was sitting down next to me, hugging my waist with his nose in my neck. I placed my food down, wrapped my arms around his broad shoulders, running my fingers in his hair at the nape of his neck.
“Dory? What is wrong?” I said softly, trying to help him calm down. When our eyes connected, I knew something had happened, and my sweet mate was beyond angry, not with me. “Baby, I want you to tell me the truth. Are you being bullied?” my eyes widened with tears threatening to fall down my face. I gave him a nod, not wanting to say more because I could anger him myself more.
“Shh, sweetheart. I am not angry with you. I can never be angry with you.” I nodded as he kissed my forehead gently and wiped the tears away that fell down my face.
