Chapter 2: Hatred

1568 Words
Michael I was in the training room taking my frustrations out because I had to sign off on where Kaitlyn would be staying from now on, I wasn't King and Cayden felt another chance was warranted. I knew this had Lord Fehmir written all over it, after all, he was one of the King's trusted advisors. I hated her being back at the Palace, it brought up old memories I thought I had buried long ago, it had been centuries and she still had a hold on me, not love, just pure hatred, a burning desire to kill her. Omri came over, took up his dagger, and said, "Let's go," I knew he wanted to help, so I took up mine and we started sparring. The hits were coming, I was losing focus and I hit the ground, Omri yelled, "Again, I taught you better than this, Michael, you're supposed to be the best," and we went at it for hours until we called it. He said, "You need to free up your mind or it could cost you your life," he was right, I spent the afternoon by the rainbow waterfall because it always calms me and clears my mind. I woke up under a tree when I heard a voice clearing their throat and it was my brother. He smiled saying, "I knew that I would find you here," it was our place from the time we were little fairies flying around, well technically, we were thirteen when we got our wings. Cayden sat next to me and said, "Penny for your thoughts," I told him that Kaitlyn had me worked up and he assured me that I got it covered, that I could be professional and civil because I did it with Roman allies, especially Ryker and he was right, I hated him. Then he told me to prepare any day now, that Aidan and the others would be back, and that cheered me up. He left me again and I sat there remembering one of the reasons I hated Ryker so much, he was never right for Drax in my opinion. ***** Flashback 1000 Years Ago I was sitting at my balcony window when I heard this howl, it sounded wounded, but I paid it no mind, then I saw a giant wolf heading through the garden and the guards attacking him, but I knew that wolf and flew down and told them to stand down. I walked over to Drax as he growled at me, he was almost feral, he had been missing for two days. I mind-linked my father and told him to send word to Aidan, Drax is here. I walked over to him very easily and wrapped my arms around him and he looked up at the sky, howled again, and changed back to his human form, he was crying like a child and I held him while sending the guards away, he was hurting and I was going to be there for him. I held Drax until he fell asleep with his head in my lap, the sun was rising and Cayden came with a blanket to cover him, informing me, that Ty was on his way to collect him. Cayden helped me carry Drax to our guest room and laid him down, he slept for two days we had to make sure he was still alive. Our mother informed us it was a broken heart, he either lost his mate or he was rejected. For it to send him feral, it was a deep bond and I knew it was Ryker, but I said nothing. Ty was outside talking with Cayden when I said, "I will be back," before flying away, I went to where Ryker was training and landed in the middle of the training field, he knew I was angry, so he sent the men away, he didn't want them to hear the conversation so I spelled the area, so no one could hear us and he walked over and I just punched him. He said, "I deserve that," and I yelled, "You stay away, never and I mean never come near him again, he almost died," he looked shocked and asked, "How is he?" I refused to answer before flying off. Drax remained in my Kingdom for three more weeks, he refused to go back not wanting to look broken in front of his friends, so we let him stay. Ty went back giving him the space he needed and informing Aidan he would be out for a few weeks, Ty did his job in the Kingdom for a while. My father was meeting a beta out on business for his Alpha and had his daughter with him who was training to be a beta, her name was Lora Britley and her family was wealthy. Drax was invited to attend the dinner and as soon as he walked in, their eyes met and both said, "Mate." Everyone in the room laughed and congratulated them and, for the next few weeks, they got to know each other before she decided to go back to his pack with him. ****** Present Day Kaitlyn I had spent centuries away in Elvira as I had been banished by King Cayden for what I did to Michael, I was being driven back to Faeora and I was nervous. I didn't know what to expect going back home, my father's plan had backfired and I was being the good daughter, keeping my mouth shut, and I was always willing to get my father's approval. I reached the Palace and it has changed a lot over the years and has been remodeled to keep up with times. I knew I would run into my former mate eventually, but I promised that I would keep out of his way. I was led to my quarters and my father was waiting for me, giving me a lecture about, this was my second chance to be Queen and he worked hard to get me back in favor of the court. It took centuries because I had to spend five hundred years away from Faeora, away from friends, family, and acquaintances. I had been staying in King Emile's Palace as a favor to my father and I was secretly involved with Prince Jared for many years after he came back from training in the special forces. I never really told him what I did, but I figured he knew and didn't care, my father found out about my relationship with Matthew and he told me to break it off, surprisingly. Matthew wouldn't take no for an answer, I got pregnant and I knew it was Matthew's baby, the timing was bad. I made sure I had Michael finish inside me and before I was due to start showing, I drank a special tea, forcing my miscarriage. Michael walked in and saw the blood and he was heartbroken that I had lost what he thought was his baby, I loved Michael and I could never figure out how I would give myself to Matthew. I wanted it to end badly and avoided him every chance I got, but he would find me and I would always end up f*****g him. However, I would not blame him totally when I enjoyed our secret meetings, I regretted everything, I lost the man that I loved, and moving back here to face him would be hard. My father was working on another plan and his focus was on Cayden since he wasn't mated but he couldn't rush it, he had to move at the right time. I was walking down the hall when I met up with Michael's mother and she called me into her office, I knew I would have to face the family, but I was still ashamed of being caught the way I did. Michael was hurt and it broke me because I never wanted to f**k Matthew. He wasn't even supposed to be on my side of the castle and he found me, I tried to get him to leave but I had a sudden headache and the next thing I knew, we were f*****g, he was pounding me from behind when Michael walked in. I will never forget the look on his face, pure hatred for me, he wanted me dead, but his brother banished me instead because of my bloodline. His mother gave me an earful about how to handle seeing Michael going forward, basically keeping out of his way, she looked at me before I turned away and she said, "Why did you do it, Kaitlyn? Michael loved you," I said, "Honestly, I don't know, I loved him, but guess I was a w***e," and I walked away. The painful memories are still embedded in my brain of what I did to my former mate. I couldn't hold back the tears so I ran back to my room, I hadn't thought about it in years, maybe, I should never have come back here and I saw Michael walk from behind the balcony door pinning me to the wall. His eyes were flicking colors and he looked at me and said, "You should never have come back," squeezing my neck, I tried to push him off and then he snapped out of it and looked at his hand saying, "Sorry," before he flew away.
