Chapter 16: Uncontrollable Entity

A few hours later we had been searching for my niece, it was almost dawn now and my wife and kids were asleep. I knew Cayden went to change out of his clothes with that b***h of a girlfriend and I was making sure everyone was on standby, Pearson came to relieve me and I told him, "Be ready to move out when I get back." Ty and Cayden had established a link with my niece earlier and I was waiting for the go-ahead to retrieve her, I walked into my quarters and my kids were asleep next to their mother, I smiled, got in bed with them, and hugged my wife watching my family knowing they are safe with me. I had just finished eating a slight snack and headed down to the conference room where Ty was ready to have the meeting and I was ready to head out to rescue Autumn.

My mate eventually linked me, "I will be in the garden with the kids, baby, I love you," I replied, "Be careful, my love, I will be tied up for most of the day but I will check in on you later," closing the link. I looked at my watch realizing most of the morning was spent watching my family and I smiled, "I love them so much," I thought. We were still waiting on Cayden when I felt uneasy, I didn't think of any foul play until I started to feel what he was feeling, something was wrong with my brother, so I excused myself and headed toward his room. As I approached his stairway, I felt his mind in a wrap and he was being drained of his power, I started to tap into his mind, finding it difficult. Something was wrong and I had to get through to him but something was trying to stop me and I knew this was a spell of some sort. I opened my mind to Ty so he could give me the push I needed to break the barrier around Cayden's mind.

I tap into my dark magic and push through, feeling my magic almost overpowering me, and yell at him to snap out of it. He was dazed and confused and not himself, I broke the barrier around the room and his mind before I left him to sort himself out. Something was not right with his bogus mate, but I needed proof before the coronation so I could end her once and for all. As Cayden entered the conference room with water given to him by Lord Fehmir, I knew something was not right with him and his daughter, so I ordered him to leave the room, I didn't trust him with this knowledge and I needed to get my niece back. I will personally end him and his daughter if they are involved in this mess, I hated Kailyn for other reasons but my focus is on my brother and missing niece.

I mind-linked Cayden during the meeting, letting him know that Kaitlyn was drugging him, he got offended as he didn't believe me, but I was sure of it. I saw him sweating profusely as Aidan looked at him before leaving. Ty could sense something was wrong and told him to rest before he tried to convince us he was okay before he passed out, my brother was not okay and I needed to do something fast before he ended up dead. I was slowly losing my patience and control of my anger, my dark magic wanted out and soon, if I was not careful it would take over, and trust me, they don't want that. I sent Omri to arrest Max and contact General Kolie, Max is part of this and he will not escape my knife this time.

My mother was notified along with my sister about what was happening to Cayden and they were by his side, my mother was worried about me saying, "Your aura seems stronger today, Mikey." I kissed her forehead and told her, "Relax, Mother, I will get everything under control and I will be fine, promise, I just need to get my niece back," and she hugged me whispering, "Wheel it in please, you could hurt someone." Although I didn't understand what she meant, I decided to focus on the task at hand and get this over with and surprise my brother when he was awake. I wanted to get to the bottom of this, so I had the kitchen checked for all the lethal poisons in food and water, even the doctor and the labs were testing everything. Our witch was making sure no spells were in the castle, someone was poisoning my brother and, although I had my suspicions, I needed proof if I were to execute a High Elder.

I was finding it hard to keep my dark magic at bay, I would kill everyone here with it if I let it get out of hand. My instinct was to protect my brother at all costs and I felt like I was failing him. I didn't feel my mate Emerie all of a sudden, so I linked her and nothing, so I ran to the side of the Palace where our quarters were, there was no one around, only the sound of my daughter in her crib crying. My mate was missing, I mind-linked everyone in the Kingdom to find my mate, and my rage was bubbling at a deadly rate. I was losing my mind, I was losing focus, my magic wanted out and it was becoming difficult to contain it, I walked back to the main hall and everyone was there and no one remembered seeing her since this morning.

I asked where her maid was and where my son was until I saw Kiara walking with my son coming back from the playground. I asked her where Emrie was and she said, "Your Highness, she left us to go put little Arielle down for her nap but Asher wanted to play more so she let him stay with me." I nodded as I could tell she was telling the truth and ordered one of my trusted guards to escort her to my chambers and keep an eye on my kids. I was getting overwhelmed and this was not good, I couldn't function properly. My wife was missing, my brother was poisoned, my niece had been kidnapped and my father was murdered. These are not simple coincidences and I was losing my mind to darkness.

I felt myself losing my grip on my dark magic and reality, I saw everyone start to back off, it was happening and I couldn't stop it as my eyes clouded over, my mother yelled scared out of her mind, "No, he is being unbound," before running out the door to safety. I was about to go off like a nuclear bomb ready to kill anyone, I couldn't contain my magic anymore, Ty yelled, "Everyone out, now!" Everyone in the room fled, leaving me and Ty, I screamed as the pain of my magic flowed through me, and before I could explode. My brother appeared with his eyes glowing gold and held me down along with Ty, whose eyes were glowing dark gray as I exploded.

I woke up to my son feeding his baby sister with her bottle and I smiled, I kissed Asher and I saw a rose next to me, I knew it was my husband who had left it. I loved him so much and I put the rose in a small vase on the bedside table then I got the kids fed, I cleaned up and Asher wanted to play outside as we were not sending him to school for security reasons. Kiara got the kids ready and I linked him about my whereabouts for the next few hours at least, I knew he would be busy today looking for Princess Autumn, I felt so bad for Allison, I would be going out of my mind if any of my kids were missing. We were outside and I was on my phone talking to Michelle filling her in on what little I do know and advising her that it's best to talk to her mate, Aidan.

After our brief conversation, I realized my daughter was asleep and decided to go inside to put her down, my son wanted to stay outside some more and begged me saying, "Can I play a little longer, mummy," I said, "Of course, Asher," and advice Kiara to keep an eye on him until I get back. I headed upstairs with my sleeping baby and I went into the nursery, something felt off but the room was empty and quiet so I put her down in her crib singing a lullaby, she had opened her eyes and closed them back. I smiled and went to leave when I felt someone inject me and I turned around to see a man but my vision blurred and I saw black. I woke up bound and gagged in this dark room, I don't know how I got here but I could hear whimpering in the corner, I was shocked to see who it was.

I couldn't mind-link anyone, not even my husband or my ex, Drax, I was scared, I didn't know if my baby was here, and I could only hope my husband found me. I heard footsteps as these shifters walked in and said, "She is awake," I remembered a few faces, they were the hired help from the Palace and I knew I was in deep trouble. One of the men pulled me off the cot, threw me over his shoulder, and took me to a room that was clean and had food on a tray next to the bed before untying my hands and saying, "Make yourself at home," I yelled, "Where is my baby?" He closed the door and I sat on the bed looking around the room, there were no windows when I heard the door open again, I turned around and saw this man looking at me and said, "How are you doing, mate?"

I looked at him and said, "I'm not your mate," he smiled, "I know but you will be by nightfall, I paid a lot of money for you, plus your husband will be dead in a few hours," I froze and said, "No," I was scared and confused and wanted to be home with my family. He said, "Don't worry, Michael owes me and we made this deal long ago, sorry I took so long to collect," as he walked over and tried touching my face. I backed away until I touched a wall and he trapped me by caging me in with both hands and forced a kiss on me before I kneed his balls, he grabbed me before yelling, "You b***h," and threw me across the room before I was knocked unconscious.
