Chapter 26: Heated Meetings

I was in the meeting as the others came into the room, Ryker and Drax were already there and Cayden walked in behind me, they saw that I was furious. Toffe and Amon walked through the portal, I saw them link with each other, and the atmosphere changed, I found it weird at this moment for some reason, I think Aidan's mind was made up and it didn't look good for me. Something was up and they were not telling me, not even my brother, I knew when Drax was hiding something from me, he could never look me in the face. However, the meeting started and I told them about my findings and that we needed to get King Silas on the phone now, Drax opened a portal and he walked through. The look on his face when I told him his son had created a big issue which was treason, I explained to Silas that, because of his son, my mate was kidnapped, forced to change into a wolf, raped repeatedly, and carrying a pup belonging to Alpha Marcus.
He then dared to invoke an ancient law that could force my mate back to him, Silas felt ashamed of what his son caused and I asked, "Who is your son's mate?" He said, "She died during childbirth many years ago, he has not taken another mate or found his second chance mate." I said, "You know your son will be punished for this," Drax confirmed what I just said, he looked at Drax and said, "Your Highness, please do not kill him, I know he lost his way, but don't kill him. After my wife died, my kids are all I have left, I promised to take care of him but I have failed miserably." Drax told him, "I will think about it, depending on the outcome of this predicament he caused," Silas nodded in understanding. Drax, however, needed to be sure and bit him, seeing his memories, and said angrily, "Lucas is missing, when were you going to tell us this?"
After Silas left, we were furious but something was still not adding up because it wasn't my blood to hold the anchor, then Cayden looked at me and said, "I was thinking about that earlier," Drax opened his eyes in disbelief as it dawned on him that I was telling the truth before Cayden said, "Something doesn't feel right about all of this, we are missing something," Drax looked at him and said, "What do you mean?" Cayden replied, "I can't put my finger on it, but why invoke an ancient law when you had no right to?" I said, "It doesn't make sense," before Ryker said, "Of course, it doesn't make sense, Marcus has no idea he invoked a law on the wrong mate, technically the deal wasn't with Michael, so why was Emerie anchored to him?" Cayden said, "How could he use the law to invoke the anchor if it wasn't Michael's blood?"
Ryker said, "You are right, something else is going on, this screamed witch," Drax said, "Of course, it worked because she has Marcus's heir, his blood growing inside her, he knew what he was doing when he invoked the law, he anchored her to him because of the pup," I flew in a rage and yelled, "That fucker." Ty walked in and said, "I figured it out, he used the law to get his heir, Emerie is just his incubator and a chance of having a mate." Drax said, "Explained, Ty," he smiled and said, "The law doesn't need blood to be invoked, anyone can invoke the law and use it to take another's mate but because it was a blood contract is why Aidan is needed. No one uses this law, so Marcus had help researching this, back thousands of years ago, packs went to war over stealing mates, but normally their Alpha or King would settle it, nothing big that the Supremes had to get involved.
Eventually, the law was forbidden and only used when there was a dire or desperate need. Marcus was desperate and probably lost his mind, he wanted to punish Michael for his dead mate's betrayal. If I didn't know any better, I would think he planned it recently. However, the blood contract normally holds a stronger bond, he knew Michael had a stronger claim, and he was using his pup and the blood contract for Aidan to rule in his favor. Blood contracts usually favor the one who invokes them trying to collect on the deal made." I said, "That can't happen, Ty," he smiled, "Don't worry, Aidan is a fair King." I left the meeting and decided to take Emerie on a getaway from all of this. Drax ordered me not to tell her because Marcus could find out through the bond if he tried to go into her mind again.

Two Days Later
I was able to take my wife on a trip to give her some needed stress-free time away from all her troubles, Marcus has been kicking up a storm trying to see Emerie until he was forced to keep his trap shut. Emerie could give birth any day now, so we are returning to the Palace, Aidan will be ready in about an hour, so we don't want to be late. Emerie was quiet and I asked, "Hey love, what are you thinking about?" She looked at me with tears and asked, "What if Aidan ruled against us?" I stopped the car and decided to tell her the truth. She looked at me and said, "You haven't told me what was said in the meeting, is it because Marcus will win?" I felt like the worst husband ever because Drax asked me not to say anything. Well, he ordered me as Marcus could read Emerie's mind because of the bond. "Is this mini-vacation because we are spending our last moments together? Will I ever see my kids again?"
She cried and I felt her fear, she was so scared of going back to Marcus, so I linked Drax and told him, "I need to tell Emerie, so please unbind me," he said, "Okay." We ended up having a quickie in the car after I told her what went down in the meeting and she was shocked about the whole Lucas situation. It dawned on her that what happened to her was a case of mistaken identity and she was caught in the middle, she was angry and fearful because we didn't know what Aidan would do. Emerie was relaxed when we entered the Palace ready to get this over with. I couldn't wait to see the look on Marcus's face when he lost everything, I was hopeful. My mother also told me she had something to talk to me about and I was putting it off and eventually, I would have to talk to her. One hour later, we were heading towards the courtroom where everyone was waiting for the trial to start and the look on Aidan's face said it all, it was going to be bad but was it bad for me or Marcus?

"Marcus, my love, why are you in my room? Is there something wrong?" I listened to her heartbeat, she was scared and then I heard it, another heartbeat. I flew up into a rage and said, "Who is he?" she said, "Let me go, I do not love you, I hate it here, he is my one true love," I was furious and said, "You smell of him and you have his seed in your womb, the heartbeat of another man's child," she looked at me in surprised, she did not know she was pregnant. I yelled, "Give me a name," she said, "No," I started to choke her as she tried to fight me off. I said, "Give me a name," she whispered, "Michael." I strangled the life out of her as she cried, I watched the light go out of her eyes until both their hearts stopped beating. I looked at her dead body and I tore her clothes off and watched what she had hidden from me, she gave it to another man and I sat on the bed and cried until I fell asleep. I murdered the woman that I had loved and Michael got away scot-free.

Present Day
I opened my eyes looking at the ceiling above, I couldn't link Emerie or get a feel off her, I hoped she hadn't f****d Michael or the spell was broken, "Fuck." I needed to get her back, I can't lose another mate again, and not because of that f*****g fairy again, he caused my Katy's death, he poisoned her mind against me and then he f**k and impregnated her. He was not going to win Emerie back, her child was a stronger claim and he would lose, I was sure of it. I heard a knock on the door and I got up to see two guards, they escorted me to the trial room, I could feel the power behind the door inside the room and knew King Aidan was there. I was nervous but knew I had a claim to my mate and requested that Michael have no contact with Emerie when I left here.
I walked into the room and saw the Supremes in the room along with, King Cayden and a few Elders. We were waiting on Michael and I could see Supreme Drax looking at me with disgust, I decided to ruffle some feathers and said, "I see that you hate me because your lover refused to give me my mate, look at it this way, you will be free to f**k him more," he growled ready to pounce on me but Ty stopped him. His mate Ryker looked at him feeling the tension between them and I smiled before Aidan said, "Enough." The doors opened and I smelled my mate's scent mixed in with Michael's, I knew they had f****d but I didn't care, she was coming home with me today when Aidan said, "Let's begin."
