Calum put down his phone as Zen hung up, he was feeling restless. The sound of Zen’s voice on that night played through his head like a broken record cursed to play the same song over and over and over again. He didn’t understand what he'd seen that night. It really looked like the entire pool was glowing, but it also kind of looked like Zen was glowing brighter. As if it was the light from her that was spilling over into the pool, lighting the whole body of water all at once. Maybe she was right. It was probably just the lights from the pool playing tricks on his mind. What she'd said this afternoon though? “Figure it out.” Like she knew it was more than just that, but she clearly wasn’t going to tell him what she meant. A thought entered his mind and he laughed at the absurdity of it.
