PART ONE: Chapter One
Moon Stone Pack
Sitting in the mountains of Bella Terra is a fifty square miles of a wolf pack territory. The Moonstone. It technically covers the whole province. For shape-shifter wolves, Bella Terra is also known as the Moonstone province of New Thailand.
The pack is led by an Alpha named Daniel Aurora and his Luna, Isabella. They have two sons. The eldest being the next Alpha, Terrence . And the second being the next Beta, Klarence. Terrence will soon turn eighteen and be proclaimed as the new leader of the pack. With only another prerequisite. He needs to have a Luna before he takes his seat.
Ever since the foundation of the Moonstone territory, the Alpha always had a mate. A Luna. It has always been a female werewolf that stood side by side with the pack's alpha. It's one of the main reasons why the pack and its territory had grown from a measly ten square mile of land into a massive city size hunting ground.
The Alpha and his Luna of every generation had produced countless heirs and in turn, their bloodline never ceased. It's very lucky considering most alphas in the world don't often find their mate and have them rule next to them. Their packs weakened and along the line, cease to exist. At times such tragedy leaves behind a sad reality.
Existence of rogues.
Some lone wolves and ones who lost their homes come to other packs for refuge and another beginning. Some others form their own groups and start their own pack. While others, they remain alone to fend for themselves.
There are a number of dangers of being a lone wolf. He will be picked on by other wolves who come in groups even when they don't belong in a pack. A rogue will also have to compete with other predators over scraps on mutual lands. Lands that other packs haven't claimed as their own. Yet.
A rogue will have a hard time finding his mate as well given that he needs to focus on surviving first before worrying about his fated partner and their future lineage. And another thing he needs to worry about. Hunters. They're still around even when most of the world has already known and accepted the existence of shape-shifters.
Within the Moonstone pack, they have wolves who have sought refuge throughout their history. The reason for acceptance vary with each rogue that comes to the territory.
The current alpha is as strict as his predecessors always were. But he is a wise and prudent leader. He thinks of his own pack first, screens every rogue, before he makes a decision to accept them or not.
Though Daniel loves his pack and gives second chances to rogues that ask for help, he doesn't hesitate to pronounce a beheading of anyone if he sees it fit over a defiance and betrayal. Rogue. Or family.
Just like the humans, shape-shifters also go to school. For shape-shifter wolves, they prefer to go where their territory still covers the school grounds. As for Moonstone, a long time ago, they founded the only school that has elementary to tertiary education. The Moonstone University.
It's believed that two best friends established the school in hopes that one day it would help their descendants have a place to call their own. During their time, they had to attend other packs' schools. And the humans' schools. It was hard. Even hunters were after them during their time.
With the growth of the Moonstone pack and its territory, the university also became bigger. It became more well-known as time went by and more and more humans enter the school.
Terrence and his brother Klarence go to the secondary department. Terrence is now in his last year of high school. Klarence is in his second year. They're only a year apart.
Classes start in the first week of June and ends in the last week of March. There are weeks off in between.
Students from the pack walked on eggshells around the two brothers. Not only because of their status but also because of their fearsome aura. They exude such foreboding ambiance around them that the students don't come near them at all or try their best to avoid them. Even the human kids can feel it.
One morning just before the first class, the brothers were walking through the hallway when one student blindly stumbled on them. He was walking out the restroom backwards as if avoiding something inside the boys' restroom.
"Hey! Come back here! We're not done yet!" A voice yelled from the inside. All the students present in the hallway halted their steps to nosy around on what's happening.
The boy who crashed against the two brothers stopped his attempt to yell back at the voice inside the restroom. He noticed the anger emanating the older of the two brothers.
"WATCH IT, YOU MUTT!" Terrence yelled at the boy. And though the aura seeping out of Terrence scared even his brother, the boy stood up and held his head up high.
"I'm sorry then. You didn't have to yell at me. And I'm not a mutt. I'm a pure blood, you--ackh!"
Terrence pinned the boy against the wall. The lowly boy who dare talk back to him-the future alpha. "What were you gonna say to me?" He hissed at the shorter guy.
The students felt pity for the boy helplessly trying to get off Terrence's hold on him. They know exactly what the future alpha is capable of. He once killed a giant bear with his bare hands when the hungry animal threatened his life in his human form.
"Get off of me! You brute!" The boy fought back. He tried to pry the arm that's choking his neck against the wall. His legs couldn't move since Terrence has his knee right between them. Terrence is smirking as he watched the boy's eyes filled with defiance.
Though he is smaller, the shorter boy's strength is evident. He may not show his full potential but two pairs of eyes know exactly what the shorter guy is capable of. They just don't want to bust their future alpha's ego.
Terrence watched amusingly as the boy in front of him continue to defy his aura demanding him to yield. To surrender. Even his wolf agrees with him. "Yield, you mutt!"
"Never." The boy declared. His own held his head up high. No one can make him surrender. He felt Terrence's gaze intensified. But he's not backing down. Submission is not in his blood.
"You dare to resist me? YOUR NAME, MUTT!" Terrence demanded.
The boy kept looking at him in the eyes. "You don't deserve to know my name." He said firmly.
Terrence was about to choke the boy with his hands when a teacher walked in telling the other students to enter their respective classrooms.
"And you, Timothee! How many times do I have to remind you? No fooling around before or after classes. Or any time for that matter. Or you'll be kicked out from this school, too." The teacher scolded the boy pinned against the wall.
Then he put his attention to the taller one when Terrence hesitantly let go of the boy's neck. "Future alpha, I apologize for Timothee's behavior. He's a new transfer and he doesn't know his place yet."
Terrence did not glance at the teacher. His eyes were fixed on the eyes of the boy in front of him. The change of color in Timothee's eyes didn't escape his attention. They were golden.
Terrence smirked. "I know your name now. You insolent mutt."
Timothee was about to pounce on Terrence with anger when two voices called his attention.
"TIM! NO!"
