Chapter 12

It was evening, I and was in the car with Adrien, alone.

“So what happened to your driver?” I asked as I repeatedly tapped my lap nervously.

“I sent him on an errand, why?”

“Oh it's nothing, I was just wondering,” I said.

Luckily we got home in time, I went to my room and he went to his.

“Finally” I muttered to myself, although I had gotten a bit comfortable around Adrien, but he was still Adrien, unlike Rio who would give the feeling of safety before revealing his through colors, Adrien has always been famous for his ruthless ways, although I do not know what he did to give him that reputation, but his aura alone was enough to keep me on my toes when I was alone with him.

I took a quick shower and changed into my nightgown, I was about to sleep when someone knocked on my door.

“Who is it?” I asked as I covered myself with the duvet.

“It is me, “ he said and I immediately sprung up from my bed.

“What do you want?” I asked him when I opened the door.

“Here,” he said as he handed over a card to me, I took it and saw that it was his black card.

“You are seriously giving me this?” I asked in shock.

“Of course, you are Mrs Lockwood, your wallet needs to match your title” he smirked.

And I smiled, of course, I was excited, I had not touched a black card ever since I became Jennifer, and now I could go back to my old spending habits again, I was so excited that I could hug anybody.

“Thank you so much, Adrien, finally I am not poor” I sighed, yes, even though I had more than a hundred million in my bank account, I still saw myself as broke, in my past life I was literally swimming in billions.

Not thinking straight because of the excitement, I wrapped my hands around him, I quickly let go once I realized what I was doing, and I nervously looked up expecting to see Adriens angry face but instead he had a smirk on his face.

“Sorry,” I muttered.

“Do you think you can just thank me with just a hug Mrs Lockwood” he chuckled as he walked closer and closer, and I? With every step he took I went back.

‘What game is this man playing now?” I asked myself.

My back eventually hit the wall and before I knew it, my hands were over my head, he was swift with it.

“How are you going to thank me Mrs Lockwood” he whispered. This man’s husky voice almost enticed me but with flashbacks about Rio and my terror at that house, I pushed him away and walked back to my bed like I was being pursued.

I sat down and kept on patting my face to reduce the redness that I knew was there just by my reaction.

“How is your grandmother doing?” I asked just to change the subject.

“She is doing better all thanks to your drug, at least she is more lively” he chuckled.

“Well she will be much better once I complete my treatment for her,” I said like it was no big deal.

“About that, in a month I will take you to the Lockwood family home to see my mum, some of my extended family might also be there, you don’t have to pay any heed to them,” he said and I nodded before he went out.

I kept on playing our initial interaction in my head over and over again until I fell asleep.

Maybe it was time for me to let thoughts of Rio out of my mind, if I kept on letting his past doings affect me, then my new life would not be worth it.

The next day when I woke up, Adrien had already left for work, it was only six am Why did he leave so early?

After getting ready I went downstairs and ate my breakfast prepared by Edna, Adrien's private chef.

Once I was done eating, I headed to Denver's entertainment so that Ramona could sign her manager contract with Xander.

I got there and I saw her waiting for me by the reception.

“Good morning Ramona” I greeted as I approached her.

“Good morning Jennifer” she smiled as we walked into the elevator together.

We got to Xander's office floor and after learning her lesson from our last interaction, Harley did not stop us from entering Xander’s office.

“Sister-in-law, it's you,” Xander said excitedly once he saw Ramona and I walked in.

“This is Ramona, my old manager,” I said to him as Ramona and I took our seats.

“Oh yes Ramona, Jenna has told me how good of a manager you are,” Xander said with a little smile as he and Ramona shook hands.

“Well,” Ramona laughed.

“Okay Ramona, I have prepared the contract for you, but I also did a bit of a background check and found out you don't have a really good reputation,” he said and the light in Ramona’s eyes went down.

“But I trust Jennifer's judgment and I will still employ you anyway, the contract is valid for only five years and if you meet company standards, we can choose to renew the contract with you again and also increase your pay and your position:” he said causing Ramona to smile excitedly, and once she caught a glimpse of the terms of the contract her smile grew even wider.

The curious me had to take a look and sure enough, for her who has been treated badly in Times Entertainment for years, the terms of the contract were like a light at the end of the tunnel. Her pay was tripled and she even got to have commissions from the work of any successful actress she signed in. Whereas in Times Entertainment, after I and that backstabbing actress left, they never appointed any other actress for Ramona, instead they made her do all the hard labor for other managers while those managers to the credit for her work publicly.

Just like in the movie Fast and Angry the famous actress Glory Stewart acted, it was Ramona who booked that gig for her, but it was Glory’s, manager, Fanley who took the credit.

Ramona was quick to sign the contract and Xander signed after.

“Welcome to Denvers Entertainment,” he said to her as they shook hands one last time before we left his office.

“I can't believe this is happening, I thought I would be stuck at Times for the rest of my career” she laughed excitedly, and thereafter came the tears of joy.

“Welcome to Denvers Ramona, your office is on the second floor of this building, just look for room 202,” Harley said with a smile as she handed Ramona the key to the office.

We went into the elevator heading for the second floor, when the elevator opened, I rolled my eyes when I realized that it was Liana and Linda that were standing in front of us.

We came out of the elevator and Ramona could not take her eyes off Linda, what was she star-struck?

“Linda, it is you?” Ramona said with shock but I could sense the bit of resentment in her voice.

“Ramona? What the hell are you doing here?” Linda asked in her usual rude tone.

“ I work here now,” Ramona said.

“What, as a janitor?” Linda crossed her hands and laughed while Liana stood there smugly.

“No, as a manager,” Ramona said with a triumphant smile.

“What!” Linda shouted in a shrill voice.

“Do you guys know each other?” I asked,

“Of course, she was the actress that almost got me canceled two years ago,” she said and my mouth almost went wide with shock. So Linda was the backstabbing actress.

And Linda? She had the audacity to look satisfied with her actions, after almost ruining somebody’s career.

“So what if I did? You deserved it anyways. I told you that I wanted to be the first female lead of ‘raging hearts’ that year but what did you do, you made me audition for the third female lead, if that is not bullying then I don’t know what is” she said with so much confident.

“Really? You think that is bullying?” I laughed.

“Don’t worry, we are all part of the same company now, I will show you what is bullying” I laughed as I tried to walk away with Ramona following my tracks.

“You this Jennifer!” Liana who had been quiet since suddenly spoke up causing me to turn around.

“Just because the CEO is showing you a little favour does not mean you will be this powerful forever, he will soon get tired of you, and you will start to struggle like everyone else!” She shouted with a smug look on her face.

“You think I am Xanders Mistress?” I laughed.

“You wish” It was now my tie to look smug as I walked out on their sorry asses.

I was now more determined than over, not just to overthrow Alex in the movie industry, but also Linda.
