~ Essence POV ~
"Is this what you want, love? Why can't you be like Vivian? Tsk, I should have marked her, not you. Don't you know how much I hate to treat you this way? Why can't you understand my heart?" The bastard pushed my head deep into the water barrel. I was feeling so suffocated, but getting myself freed from his grasp was the only thing that I was able to do.
He loved to see me in tears and, because of that, he could do anything. No matter how many times I apologized for not being perfect Luna, he never forgave me.
I was well aware that he preferred Vivian over me, but knowing that he was nothing more than a prick, that so-called father of mine threw me at him in the name of marriage.
I was not able to breathe properly, but the way he was laughing made me tremble in fear.
"Do you need to see me again with some other she-wolf?
Why can't you properly learn how to serve me in bed? Even slaves are better than you." He whispered to me after he brought my face closer to his mouth. He was standing right behind me and a chill ran down my spine when I felt his hands around my chest.
No, this must be a nightmare. It has to be. This man is no longer a part of my life in this new life of mine. He might be my first husband, but the day he left me, that day I felt quite relieved, but when I married for the third time, he was the one behind my abduction.
"I am no longer scared of you, Tyler." I looked straight into his hazel eyes and after I pushed him away from me, everything started to crumble around me.
The darkness was engulfing me and I happily embraced that darkness with open arms.
The sunlight was touching my face and when I opened my eyes, I saw the brightness that was surrounding me.
I kept my hand on my chest and after wiping the sweat from my forehead, I moved closer to the side table. After taking the glass of water from the table, I immediately gulped it down.
What the heck was that? Why did I suddenly dream about that person?
It's a good thing that I don't have to deal with those maids or they would have reported about my nightmares to the Alpha King.
"Open the damn room, you f*****g b***h! How dare you occupy the room that originally belonged to my daughter?" I heard the screaming of the queen through the hallways.
Is she kidding me right now?
This palace has almost hundreds of rooms and she still wants me to give up this bedroom for the sake of her long lost daughter? She could give her a better room, so why exactly is she so interested in my room?
Well, it's a good thing that they are here or I would have died out of boredom.
I should treat them nicely, so they won't ever forget my hospitality.
I yawned when I walked out of bed and, after opening the door of my room, I gazed at the duo of mother and daughter while I wrapped my arms around my chest.
"Why are you not greeting us? Oh, is this because of the joke that the Lycan king made last night? There is no way in hell that someone like him will ever choose someone like you. Go and prepare breakfast for everyone.
You could at least do that, right? I mean, for the last eighteen years, you have freely used our resources without paying for a thing." The queen mother of mine is surely pissed at me. I mean, it's not like she loved me or anything, but this was the first time that she had asked me to do work like this.
After knowing the truth of my birth, I am certain that my importance in her eyes is not more than a maid of this palace.
How could I forget that blood is always thicker than water? She must be happy to finally find her real daughter.
"Why would I do that, mother?" I replied to her with a smile on my face. I am well aware that she doesn't like it whenever I address her as my mother, but that's the reason why I am addressing her in that way.
Who told her to barge in my room early in the morning? They all must have discussed something about Daeron's proposal last night. Don't tell me that Ryan has suddenly decided to make things worse for me?
Nah, what could he do?
I need to find out more about my birth mother and if what that woman said last night was the actual truth or not?
"I am not your mother, you filthy thing! Only the goddess knows who exactly your father is and with whom that w***e mother of yours slept to conceive you. That Daeron is certainly blind to choose you over my daughter. Well, it's not too late to correct his mistake.
Whenever he comes to meet you to set the time for the ceremony, I want you to leave the room and let Vivian take care of him.
You can at least do that for her, right? You have almost stolen everything from her and even then my daughter forgave you without thinking much. At least try to pay her back for the sake of her kindness." She suggested something that made me chuckle.
Is she serious right now?
If shedding crocodile tears is considered to be kind, then even the dark witches have the hearts of angels.
She is telling me to clear the way for her daughter, but have they even asked the Lycan king what he wants? They don't know that guy that well, so they must have been deceived by his appearance.
That man doesn't even know the meaning of being patient, so if they try to trifle with him, then he will surely strangle them to death.
Should I fulfill their death wish by clearing the way?
Well, I can go and search for that woman while that dear future mate of mine can take care of these people.
I just hope that he doesn't bring Amara with him. I am still not sure how and when Ryan will approach her, but I can't let that bastard get successful in his plans in this life of mine.
I still remember how Amara died in my arms and, even in her last moment, Ryan was not with her, he was busy f*****g one of his many girlfriends.
She coughed out blood and when I asked them to give her a proper burial, they hid her dead body somewhere.
They were planning some sort of ceremony with her body with the help of those dark mages, but before they could do anything, I secretly burnt her body, so they could not use her dead body for whatever experiments they were planning to do.
Someone like Ryan doesn't deserve a mate. I can no longer hear the voice of the moon goddess, but if she is hearing me, then I want Amara to find her true mate in this life.
'What about you, your royal highness?' I again heard a strange voice inside my head, but why is she calling me your royal highness?
The truth about the fake princess must have spread in the north, south and also in the east. There must be no kingdoms or clans left who don't know about me.
'Who are you?' I tried to ask her after closing my eyes, but I failed to hear her voice inside my head.
"How dare you ignore me? Have you already forgotten that I am way superior to you? I will have to teach you a nice lesson, so you will not forget your manners again.
There is no breakfast for you today." The queen grabbed me by my jaw and after glaring at me, she again planned to raise her hand at me.
Vivian was smiling. Will you look at that? How could someone with an angelic appearance have such a dark heart?
In my first life, I tried my best to understand her and her anger towards me, but in this life, I am not going to get hit for free.
"Did you not take my words seriously last night? I told you that I would not endure this anymore, didn't I?
Why do you keep forgetting things, mother?" I easily removed her hand from my face and before she could hit me, I immediately grabbed her other hand that was in the mid-air with a smirk on my face.
I then gazed at Vivian while I tilted my head a little, "Why are you making such an expression? I thought you would have at least tried to calm down your mom, but sadly you didn't. What a kind-hearted girl you are, Princess Vivian."
She was so embarrassed that she immediately lowered her head and, without saying anything, she dashed downstairs. She must be going to Ryan to complain about me. I am not sure how many hours she is going to cry in front of him, so before he gets here to lecture me, I need to get out of this damn place.
"You… who are you? You can't be Essence. She used to tremble whenever I yelled at her, but she never talked back to me, let alone thinking about stopping me from disciplining her." My dear queen mother stuttered as she was not able to believe her eyes, so to make her accept the truth, I twisted her hand behind her back and after moving a little closer to her, I told her something that stunned her.
"That Essence died a long time ago, mother. The new Essence won't tolerate anything. You asked me about my birth mother and you even disrespected her without knowing the actual truth, but there are many secrets that I know about you.
Have you told father about the archmage? You do share a deep relationship with him, don't you? Do you want me to reveal the truth to him?
After knowing the truth… umm, what do you think he will do with you?" I whispered to her and my words made her gasp in shock.
Her whole body started to tremble in fear and when she turned to look at me, I could tell by her widened eyes that she never thought that there would be someone who would be aware of the truth.
Well, the thing about truth is that you can never hide it for too long. One way or the other, it always gets revealed, no matter how hard we try to hide it from others.
"How… How do you know about that? No… no… I am sorry, Essence. You can have your breakfast in your bedroom today.
I will make sure that nobody will disturb you when you have your meal." I could see a yellow aura surrounding her. She must be extremely scared right now.
If I am not wrong, then she is going to discuss this with that archmage and, as that wizard is higher in position compared to the other witches and wizards, then he will surely do everything in his power to find out the truth about me.
That man won't sit idly. I will somehow need to deal with him.
I let go of Queen Olivia and when I finally released her hands, she gently moved both her hands.
When she gazed at me, she immediately dashed downstairs and after she left, the other maids entered my room with the serving trolley.
They left the room after serving me breakfast. I don't have much time. I gazed at the only watch that I had in my room and, after looking at it, I dashed towards the bathroom. I am getting late.
I took a quick bath and after wiping my body with the towel, I wrapped it around my body. I got out of the bathroom and after changing into the clothes that I picked up for myself, I gazed at my appearance in the mirror.
The basic black crop top and the pair of slim-fit jeans looked nice on me. I gently brushed my hair with the hairbrush and after applying some lip tint on my lips and cheeks, I applied a few coats of mascara on my lashes.
It was a good idea to not wear the dress that the maids chose for me. That dress would surely get in my way and as I wanted to move freely, I decided to wear these clothes as they would certainly not hinder my movements.
After I picked up the sandwich, I ate it without thinking too much. I then gulped down the glass of fresh orange juice and, after eating my breakfast, I planned to get out of this place through the window.
When I opened the window, I took a deep breath and after that, I simply jumped out of the window without thinking too much, but instead of landing on the ground, I landed in someone's arms.
"You can now open your eyes, sweetheart. So, why did you jump from your window? What if you somehow got hurt because of your carelessness? So, tell me about the reason why you did this?
Oh, did you do this as you were planning to leave me? Why are you still not opening your beautiful eyes? Do you want me to kiss you… like how you kissed me at the party last night?
That's the reason why you are still closing your eyes, right? Well, how could I disappoint you Essence out of all the people." The guy leaned closer to me and when I opened my eyes, I stopped breathing for a second, as his lips were almost touching mine and when he kept his forehead on mine, I tightly clenched his shirt.
Why do I always end up in an awkward position with him?
Shit!
How am I going to explain myself to him?
Is he also going to get mad at me?
What should I do now?
There must surely be a way to escape from this dreadful position, right, but what?
