~ Essence POV ~
That guy has a talent for ruining my mood. What surprise was he talking about and what did he mean when he said that he couldn't feel it? Can't feel what?
Forget it.
I should get ready to meet the real princess as she will make a grand entrance with that woman. Stopping her from entering the palace was not a big task for me, but I don't want to fight with her for the love of those undeserving people. The family love that I desperately yearned for is no longer important to me.
Vivian can have the love of those people as much as she wishes to get. I am really tired of playing the role of the perfect princess and I really can't act anymore. After getting back, I took a nice bath and now the maids are helping me out to get ready for the party.
Suzy was gently brushing my hair while the other maids took care of my makeup. They applied two to three coats of mascara and after Suzy straightened up my hair, she helped me to apply lip tint on my lips and cheeks.
Well, my hair is naturally straight so she didn't do much. I am not sure what happened, but Ryan ordered a different evening gown for me to wear. After my makeup and hair was done, I got up from the chair and I then walked towards the closet.
I touched the silky fabric of the gorgeous gown. This might be the first time I have worn something this beautiful. Even in all of those three weddings of mine, I wore hand-me-downs that Vivian gave me.
The maids helped me to wear the rose gold off-shoulder gown. The work on the gown was quite eye-catching and when I wore the tiara made of diamond, the maids gasped in shock. Suzy clicked her tongue in annoyance when she heard that Ryan was looking for me.
Instead of arguing with her, I decided to walk out of the room as the guests were already waiting for me. It's funny, but both my father and mother didn't wish me today… not even that Ryan.
When I walked towards the staircase, I saw that Ryan was waiting for me and his eyes widened when his eyes fell on me. He was wearing a nice tux, but the first three buttons of his black shirt were open, so I looked in another direction.
While I was still in a daze, Ryan suddenly grabbed my wrist and that just scared me. I gulped down hard when he wrapped his arm around my waist.
When we walked downstairs, I could feel the gazes of the guests who were interested in knowing about our deep relationship.
I looked around, but I failed to find Amara and Daeron. It's a good thing that Amara still has not met with this jerk or she would have again fallen into that same trap that this guy laid for her even in the past.
"Wow, you are looking breathtakingly beautiful today, Essie." Alan, kissed the back of my hand and his smile that once made me happy... It was now irritating me.
I pulled my hand away from his grasp and his wizard friends who were beside him, laughed at him. Did he think that I would let him treat me however he wanted?
"You are getting quite close to Essence, Alan. I thought that you already lost the bet, so why are you still trying to win her heart?
She can never become yours as she already has an owner." Ryan pushed Alan away and before they could start fighting with each other, the Alpha King and his queen finally arrived.
What bet?
When I gazed at him, I could tell that he was afraid that the truth would be out if Ryan said another word about him.
Oh, so even Alan became my friend for a reason. What was I thinking when I thought about him being my only friend?
Ryan was talking about some owner of mine. Don't tell me that they are thinking about selling me to that bastard who once made my life miserable?
Well, they can dream all they want, but this time I am not going to become the sacrificial bride for their happiness.
The King and Queen are always the people who enter last, so I don't think that Daeron is going to attend this party.
The wizards are here, the Alphas of different packs are also here. Those two walked towards me and after embracing me they looked into my eyes.
The alpha king grabbed me by my shoulder and he was looking quite disappointed in me, "You still can't transform, can you? You are seriously such a disgrace to the royal family."
"How could I give birth to someone useless like her? If I knew how she was going to turn out, then I would have abandoned her somewhere in the forest." The queen crossed her arms around her chest and her tone was enough to tell me how much she loathes my existence.
My chest was getting tight and the way they were laughing in front of the guests was making me feel nauseous.
Alan was trying to talk with me and Ryan was not ready to let me go anywhere. All of this made me feel so suffocated that I wanted to flee this place.
"Where are you going? This party was meant for you." The Alpha King glared at me and this time I was the one who laughed.
"Is it? I thought that you just wanted to show others that I am now ready to be mated with the person of your choice. Don't include me in those wretched plans of yours, father.
Oh, you don't like it when I address you that way, right? But what to do? We are still in front of the guests. You surely don't want them to learn the truth about the spoiled princess, do you?
Now, if you will all excuse me." I smiled at them and, after removing the hands of my father from my shoulders, I immediately walked towards the balcony.
I took a deep breath and when I gazed at the night sky, a smile appeared on my face when I saw the beautiful full moon. This might be the last night when they are all treating me like some princess.
"What's the point of getting this second chance when I don't have enough power to kill them all?" I mumbled to myself.
To ruin them, I need to bring out their greed. Those people have ruined the lives of many people just to fulfill their selfish desires.
They always wanted to rule the north and they have tried different ways to own that place, but even after Daeron's death they failed to sit on his throne.
"Where are you, Essie? Why don't you want to talk with me? You are misunderstanding something. You know how Ryan always tries to separate us, right?
How could you believe someone like him over me?" I could hear Alan's screams and he was yelling so loudly that even the other guests were whispering about us.
Is he mad?
Why is he screaming out so loudly when he clearly knows that I am on the balcony?
Is he trying to garner attention?
The serenity of this place calmed me down and I really don't want to lose it.
"You seem to be enjoying yourself here and I thought only I found these parties bothersome." I heard a deep husky voice and when I turned around, I saw an extremely attractive man.
His skin was very pale and he had perfect and high cheekbones, a strong jawline, perfect eyebrows, a straight nose and full lips. He ran his fingers through his black hair when he walked closer to me with a glass of red wine in his hand.
He is not a werewolf, is he?
So, what exactly is someone like him doing here?
~ Daeron's POV ~
Where is she? I left everything in the north just to meet her and I can't find her anywhere. This was supposed to be her birthday party, so why can't I find her? Is she seriously trying to avoid me?
Even Amara was looking for her and the Alpha King and Queen were trying their best to hold us back. They must be pissed that we entered the party later than them.
Well, I am the Lycan king, so Alpha Evan is still below me.
There were a number of guys who were trying to approach my sister, but when they gazed at me, they immediately stopped in their tracks.
Zion and Silas were protecting Amara, so I was not worried about her.
The alphas of different packs even thought about introducing their daughters to me, but when their eyes met mine, they changed their minds.
Do they think that their fragile daughters can become the queen of the north? None of them can even survive there for a day, forget about sharing their whole lives with me.
"I see, you still haven't found a mate for your sister. She looks so lovely that I want to treat her like my own daughter.
Well, I have heard that you both lost your mother at a young age, so think of me as your own mother, alright?"
The queen of the werewolves smiled at us, but her smile looked so fake that I really wanted to strangle her, but I can't afford to waste my time on someone like her.
"If I thought of you as my mother, then you wouldn't be alive anymore. You really don't know a thing about us, do you?" I smirked at the queen and her body trembled when she heard my words.
"We are not here to meet you, Queen Olivia. Where is Princess Essence? We are here to congratulate her as this is her day." My sister kept everything short and that shocked the others.
They must have thought that Amara would try to correct me, but instead of correcting me, she didn't give a damn about what the queen said to us.
I can't see that arrogant alpha prince anywhere.
"Your face is too close." I heard the familiar sweet voice, so without thinking anything, I dashed towards the balcony.
What's this?
Why am I suddenly feeling so restless?
When I opened the door of the balcony, I saw a man's back. He was covering the face of the girl, but when he heard my footsteps, he turned to look at me and his blue eyes met mine.
"What's the prince of the vampires, Sebastian Archer, doing with the werewolf princess?" I asked him and he only smiled at me without saying anything.
My eyes then met with the sapphire ones and, for a moment, I felt that the world stopped revolving.
She bit her lower lips and her shiny auburn hair was touching her knees. Her moon-skin was shining under the full moon. She had rosy cheeks, a tiny nose and cherry lips that I really wanted to touch and feel.
If my wolf confirms it, then I won't doubt that she is my mate, but he was dead silent.
"Can't you see that I am busy here, Lycan king, Daeron?" Sebastian tucked away her hair lock behind her ear and the moment his finger tip touched her, I dashed towards him.
I grabbed his arm behind his back and before he could attack me, I growled at him, "LEAVE!"
The glass that he was holding shattered into pieces and, seeing how angry I was getting, the princess signaled the guy to leave.
I took a deep breath to control my anger and after I pulled back my hair, I looked at the princess. She stood up on her toes and after removing something from my head, she whispered to me in a hushed voice, "You are insanely handsome."
Essence immediately covered her mouth after realizing that she had said those words loudly. She was so embarrassed that it made me smile.
This was maybe the first time that I had been smiling like this. If anyone saw me like this, then they would have died due to shock.
When I rubbed her earlobe, she gasped in shock, "Don't avoid me. Do you understand? Happy Birthday, princess."
When I wished her, there were tears in her eyes.
Why is she crying?
No, I don't want to see her like this. I want to embrace her so tightly that no harm could come her way. I can't see her going through any sort of pain.
Before I could wipe away her tears, I heard some commotion that was coming from inside.
"She is here. The real one is here, Lycan king." Essence said to me calmly, but I could tell that something was breaking inside her.
Why is she looking so broken and why do I not want to leave her alone?
I feel like if I tried to stay away from her then I would seriously go completely berserk and I might even die if she somehow left me.
No, I would not let her leave me.
