That night, Alessandro returned to his chambers early. When he arrived, he caught Abril eating the fruit in his room. She choked upon seeing the king. Patting her chest lightly, Alessandro approached her, took her hands, and made her raise them. After a few minutes, she felt better and said, "Thank you."
Alessandro was still holding her by the arms. Abril was on tiptoe since he was too tall.
"Are you alright?" He asked.
"Yes," she replied.
Alessandro looked at her intently. Abril wondered when he would let go. Her hands were starting to tingle and her back ached.
After making sure she was alright, Alessandro released her and said,
"If I hadn't arrived just in time, you would be dead right now."
"If you hadn't arrived, I wouldn't have choked," thought Abril.
