Chapter Eight

916 Words
Sam’s POV continued My heart broke when I saw Sally’s eyes bloodshot and red from crying, scoping her up in my embrace, I kept mummering that I could not find her and that I was worried about her. She held me close and explained that Ade was from a local pack and that he and his team had been keeping a close eye on us during our weekend stay, and that they had been assisting in the search, and that I had been gone for over 24 hours, with the others still missing. Sally also mentioned that she had spoken to dad and he was on his way to look for us. I learnt that the others were still missing. Sally and Ade persuaded me to go and have a sleep. I’m not even sure when I felt Sally climb into bed, just like we used to do all those years ago. I surrendered myself to sleep while Sally cuddled up to me, whispering gentle words in my ear. Next morning I woke to Sally standing over me and the sun streaming through the window of the upstairs attic bedroom that we had claimed on our arrival. She looked more like herself this morning, I could tell at once that dad had arrived and had taken charge, it had been alot for her to deal with on her own. I was aware that Ade had been helping, but he was not family so it would have been extremely difficult for her to completely be her wonderful self. Following down the stairs, the first person I saw was dad, then Alpha Frank, upon seeing him I understood he was here as he was Jon’s dad and as far as I knew he and the others still had not turned up yet. I suddenly became aware of Sally’s feelings of relief and comfort - yet its that twin connection we have - and following her eyes were Luna Chloe and our Mum. I know that it was at this point that I then realised how serious the situation was. None of the top leaders left the pack together! It was always either the Alpha and Beta, the Luna and Beta female, or a mixture of both, but never all of them. Sh*t what really had happened? Alpha Frank’s Point of View When my beta, Matthew barrelled through my office door looking pale, and was out of breath, which is something he has never done, I knew something had happened. After I got him to sit and handed him a glass of our favourite tipple, I got him to explain what the trouble was. Once Matt had finished, we must have looked like bookends. I could feel the blood drain from my face, it was at this point that my mate and Luna Chloe and Matt’s mate and female beta, Jo, burst through the door. Luckily Jo had updated Chloe. They had got their loyal omegas to pack a travelling bag for each of us. I understood at once what they were telling us, we were all going to have to go. Not only was it our children that were in trouble, but our future pack leaders. I was just about to phone my old friend Alpha Daniel - who I met at the Leadership training back in the day - and he was more than happy to keep an eye on my son and his friends, and inform him that we would need to cross his boundaries, when my office phone rang and speaking of the devil, Daniel had beaten me to it. He explained that Ade had met up with Sally and had been under orders to keep her safe, until we arrived. Also that he had recalled his top trackers from their last assignment, and once they had been briefed on the situation they would join us at the cottage. Unfortunately, due to Daniel’s health he wouldn’t be able to meet us but it was comforting to know he wasn’t far away if we needed anything. I was grateful that he had agreed to keep an eye on the kids while they were near his territory. We left within an hour and made good time driving through the night, each of us taking a turn to drive while the others rested. We reached the cottage just as the sun was coming up. A young man with a strong aura was guarding the door and we noticed that a patrol had been set up about the cabin. The young man bowed to us out of respect and introduced himself as Aridan but asked us to call him Ade. He led us into the cottage and one of his team took up his place guarding the doorway. Ade was totally in awe, when we introduced ourselves and bowed again, his eyes gave him away when Matt was introduced - had definitely heard of him. Matt was the most decorated betas in our world, he had fort in the last period of unrest and had saved the king himself. He had even been invited to join the royal guards, but Matt is a very humble, loyal wolf and politely decided as he was an eight generation wolf in our pack and Jo was pregnant with the twins. Luckily the king understood and I will always be grateful for Matt and his loyalty. Ade brought us refreshments and we had just got settled when the twins came down the stairs.
