CHAPTER 2

Lightning flashed across the sky with a strong wind. Following immediately after that was a roar of thunder. The rain began to pour soon after. Camilla had fallen asleep without knowing but the sound of footsteps had woken her up from her sleep. Her eyes squinted everywhere until she had noticed one of the nannies around, she was one of the helpers that had been hired recently and she seemed to be putting some of Camilla's clothes in the box that she was probably be using for tomorrow's trip. She watched carefully as the helper slowly took out some lingerie to put in the box. “What the hell do you think you are doing? Are you sending me off with that to seduce him? Are you dumb or something?” Camilla yelled out harshly. She exhaled heavily after she noticed how much shock her reaction had made the helper react. Not that Camilla wanted to be harsh right now but she wasn't happy at all. The helper had chosen that lingerie at a time like this which had made everything more irritating. Camilla had only heard of Oscar Vicente but she had no clue on how he looked. What if he was an old man or a womanizer who just wanted to have his way with her? What if he was an abuser who hit women? Not that Camila would sit and watch him hit her but she was scared of going through any of these things. She screeched before going into the bedroom. ••••••••• Camilla sighed loudly as she entered her huge apartment. The work today had been so tiring and the files didn't seem like they were ending soon plus complaints from her secretary. Camilla's secretary wouldn't stop talking about how many her aunt keeps calling. She knew exactly why her aunt was calling. It was definitely because she was travelling to Italy today. She dropped the red flowers which had been gifted to her by Drake Xander's. Drake Xander was an investor in their company who wouldn't stop lavishing so many gifts on her just to win her over but she wasn't interested in any of her clients. Everything was just strictly business. He had even told her that he was going to increase his shares in the company to help her out with the company's problem but Camilla knew that it was a wrong decision to take. Camilla had ended up packing all the necessary things she needed for her trip tonight but she sure needed to warm her body from all the stress from work. Soon she was done showering and eating dinner. She watched as the clock struck eight and then her phone began to beep very close to her. She knew it was driver who had been sent to pick her up, Cutting the call, she exhaled loudly as she viewed the entire New York from her very large windows. She was beyond exhausted but the thought of her uncle's disappointed face flashed in front of her eyes. It was normally like this for her no matter how much she tried. After an hour of driving and trying to get through the traffic she had finally arrived at the airport. Camilla sighed before trudging towards the plane. She took a few steps to get into the plane but became frozen when she caught a glimpse of her aunt. “What the hell was she doing here?” she said, scoffing under her breath. Her chest tightened as she walked past her aunt. Her aunt seemed to have noticed her reaction and that had made her smirk a little. “How could you have gotten this lucky Camila after your parents had tossed a bin like you away?” she had commented with a chuckle but that didn't sound funny. I gingerly gave a little nod, too numb to feel or say anything right now. Camilla knew that there company would gain a lot by what she was doing and nobody would want to help them when everything turned very bad. Camilla said nothing but gave a little smile in between gritted teeth while she clenched her hands very tightly. She sat down beside the window thinking about the mass number of employees working for them, the negative things that would arise if she didn't do this. She rubbed her head trying to stop the building headache. Those workers had worked all their lives by the side of her uncle and their life expenses were gotten from their salary. She knew that the decision had already been made for her and she knew that making this decision was the right thing to do. Camilla still had a heart of gold even after how much love and wealth she got from her uncle. The people at the company respected her because they knew that she would do anything to make sure that the company doesn't go bad. “I wasn't expecting you to dress like some beggar Camilla? I have bought you a more befitting dress because the Vicente's are top class,” she uttered while Camilla watched her adjust her gown through the plane reflector. She slowly checked her bag to find maybe a distraction but unluckily, she found nothing. “You might not respect me but I hope you give some respect to the Vicente’s, I don't care if you have to lick your husband's toes just to appease him but you obey everything he tells you, I don't want anything to ever go wrong. Do you understand?” her aunts crooked and shady voice came annoyingly. “Do you understand me?” she yelled out angrily after she had gotten no response from Camilla. “Whatever!” Camilla answered barely a whisper while throwing her head towards the window. “Old witch!” She scoffed under her breath. Camilla was stunned when her hair got pulled very hard and the stares her aunt gave her looked firm. Camilla tried to let her aunt's hand off her hair but it proved abortive because her grip only seemed to worsen. “You f*****g spoilt brat, do you understand me?” she questioned as Camilla's eyes began to glitter in tears. “Yes, I understand!” Her voice came out shakily in between gritted teeth. “Good girl!” she uttered with a smile before returning back to where she had been sitting. Camilla couldn't help but massage her neck in pain before sinking back into the chair. “””””””””””””” * * Oscar’s phone went off for the tenth time in one minute. He was practically angry and irritated by everything right now. He wondered why his father had to do this to him. He was setting him up to have a loveless marriage just like he had one with his mother. Oscar never believed that his father would set him up with some random girl he had no idea of? There is nothing absolutely wrong with having to marry a girl but why must it be some new york chick? What would she even be like? “perché pulcino di New York?” He uttered under his breath. (why New York chick?” He wondered if she was some scared daddy's girl? It was not like he was against a daddy’s girl but they were strictly not his type of woman at all. Oscar knew that he wasn't going to be tied down to a woman he had no interest in. It was very easy, he was going to have different women on his bed every night. He frowned at the phone which wouldn't stop beeping. It was clearly his dad trying to talk to him but he wasn't ready to listen. How could he even think of doing this to him? He clearly had no idea of who this girl was. There is no name, picture, description. Oscar wasn't told anything about her including her name, no one cared to send him a picture of how she looked. What if she was someone older than him? “Father wouldn't dare, right?” he thought. Oscar was a billionaire mafia who gives no mercy and having a woman who is weak and vulnerable would be a great no for him. What if she ends up making everything fail? He wanted a strong and fearless person and he thinks his father doesn't know that. Oscar Vicente has been running all the companies they had and he was someone who a lot of people feared. He hated betrayal the most and would do anything to get whatever he wanted. He was also known to be brutal and unforgiving. He twirled around to glare slightly at the blondie who was sleeping soundly behind him, Oscar had no idea how they got here, and he didn't care either. “How nice to see you like this, how can you be this irresponsible when you clearly know that you are getting married?” His cousin brother Nathan said after he walked into the room. Nathan flashed him a look of disappointment and lethargy. Oscar wondered why he was peeking at me that way and not his father? Not that he chose to get married, he exhaled heavily while rubbing free hands on his face. “I hate it when you invade my privacy!” Oscar said harshly. Oscar felt like his cousin's brother was only here to rub it to his face that he was different from him. He wasn't the one being forced to get married to just any girl, he wanted to scream so badly but it was to no avail. “Get out!” Nathan told the girl who had just woken up while she tried to get her things from the floor very quickly before running out of the room in her skimpy underwear that exposed her naked body. “I think that you are too much of an asshole for whoever is going to end up with you!” Nathan blurted out next while letting his hands run through his very neat hair, he sounded like a f*****g i***t to Oscar but he was always there when he needed him the most. “I thought I wanted you to leave?” Oscar said, laying back on the bed while he groaned tiredly. “Is that a way of telling me that you want me to stay?” Nathan said with a smile that showed off his dimples and white set of teeth. He knew that Nathan was basically right because he didn't want him to leave, his presence made everything less tense. “Clean up, they would be arriving soon, and don't kill the old man with heart attacks!” he said before leaving.
