She remembers that after remaining motionless for more than ten minutes, she finally dragged her tired and exhausted body up to the attic, which had become her bedroom more than 10 years earlier. Her skin was sticking, but she wasn't about to go upstairs for a bath at the risk of running into him again... She would have liked to have taken a bath and scrubbed off the marks on her skin, but she would do it tomorrow as soon as he had left the house. She had taken off the remnants of her torn dress and put on another nightgown before going to her braid. She began to cry again, thinking of her father and all his misfortunes. She was used to this kind of treatment and she thought about running away, but she was afraid for her mother and, what's more, her father had a lot of connections. If she ran away, even though she didn't have a wolf and she didn't have anyone, she was bound to get caught. Before, she'd hoped someone would help her get out of this hellhole, but now... She no longer believed it. She remembered her father's words and was afraid... He was going to buy her that dildo and what if he got a hard-on? He was going to rape her... That would be even worse than what she was going through. She knew it was time to do something, but she was so exhausted, so tired, that it wasn't long before sleep got the better of her and she drifted off into dreams where she could finally see herself getting rid of her stepfather. The next morning, it was her mother who came to wake her up and when she smelled the coffee, the young woman remembered that it was her birthday and that... her stepfather... had a nasty surprise for her. Her mother had fed and washed her. She had straightened her hair and put make-up on her. She'd tried to talk to her, but she always dismissed the subject and told her that she should stop pushing Matthiew away... Night fell quickly and the young woman felt fear invade her being... She already knew what was waiting for her in the next few minutes... She was beginning to regret not running away. She regretted always thinking of her mother, who didn't seem to care about her, but it was too late to regret it, as the man was about to arrive. When 6 o'clock struck, the door opened. Ava, who was in the attic with her mother, felt her heart give out... " He's here... It's time." " No, Mum, I'm begging you." she pleaded, starting to cry quickly. " He's not going to hurt you, Ava. So just... Calm down, you're going to ruin your make-up." " No, Mum. I'm your daughter, remember? I'm your daughter, Mama. I'm begging you, please. Please don't do this to me." " Ava. Do you want to be out on the street? He's the reason we're still alive. So I'm begging you... Do it for your old mum..." " Mum, please..." " He's giving you the future your father would have wanted you to have, so you should thank him." It was horrible... She didn't deserve such a fate... And as she opened her mouth to retort... Matthiew's voice echoed through the house... " Ava, darling? Where are you, darling?" " We're on our way..." replied the young woman's mother. Ava redoubled her tears. Her mother grabbed her arm and tried to pull her towards the door, but with her handicap, it was difficult enough as the young woman resisted... " Ava, don't you realise that Matthiew is your chance of survival? Even nature is against you, you don't even have a wolf! How are you going to cope if he turns his back on you? " Ava looked at her mother with pleading eyes as she continued to cry, but her mother didn't seem to care about her ordeal. " Do as he says, if you want a chance of living a normal life." she finished. Probably resigned, the young woman let herself be dragged into the living room. However, once there, the young woman noticed the presence of two men in addition to her stepfather. Thinking the worst, the young woman glanced terrified at her mother... "And there she was... My lovely daughter." announced her stepfather. Lovely? Daughter? What do you mean? "She's beautiful. "Said one of the two men gruffly. "Very beautiful. Corrected the other. "You see... 150 gold coins is a fair price?" Price? The young woman understood instantly what was going to happen... She began to tremble as her body gave out on her... "Price? No...no...Mum. No..." Her stepfather turned to her with a sadistic smile before saying... "You're in luck. His gentlemen were looking for a little virgin for the king..." Virgin? King? Khaïd? No... The young woman suddenly snapped back to reality, not wanting to think about what happened next... She felt a tingling sensation on her legs. She lifted her dress, wincing in pain as she scratched herself. The rope binding her hands was beginning to itch. Just as she was about to try and remove it, the sound of a lock on her door was heard... The young woman stood up instinctively, her heart beating desperately in her chest... The door opened with a long, icy sound, then a faint light appeared in the doorway. It was a woman... "Help me, please." But she wasn't there to help her... She realised this when she saw the dark look she had just given her. " Keep moving and don't play any tricks. There are more than thirty armed men in this manor, and if you try to save yourself, they'll eat you alive." For Ava, the message was clear. Where could she go? She wasn't likely to get home and she was probably in the middle of nowhere. She didn't have a she-wolf, so all she could do was run on the strength of her two little legs, which were already weak, and she'd probably get caught up and God knows she'd probably die when she got back. She wasn't going to take that risk... Not now. For now, she had to be content with doing as she was told.
