~~Star’s P.O.V~~
Why was he still trying to talk to me? This had to be a dare of some sort, probably Kristie trying to get under my skin and embarrass me again, but it wouldn't work this time, I wouldn't let her do that to me again. I was so glad when they announced that English class was canceled, it meant that I could just go straight to the library and didn't have to sit through hell, but it also meant that Nash wouldn't follow me because he had class, so I wouldn't have to put up with even more of Kristie’s scheming. I don't even know what her problem is with me, she's just always been like this and it pisses me right off, I wouldn't mind if I had actually done something to her, but I hadn't. I got to the library just in time to see Mr. Colo placing a load of books on the roll cart.
“Hello, Mr. Colo.” I said and he looked up at me suspiciously.
“Hello Star, why aren't you in class? I wasn't expecting you for another hour.” Mr. Colo asked, looking at his watch.
“The English teacher is off sick and the headmaster told us to go to our next class, but I have two free periods so I thought I would just come here.” I replied, shrugging my shoulders.
“Well then, I have the perfect job for you and it saves me doing it. Can you put all the books on the roll cart back on the shelves please.” Mr. Colo asked and I quickly nodded. I started going from shelf to shelf, putting the books back and tidying them up as I went along.
“Here you go Star. I have some more books to be put back.” Mr. Colo said and handed me another huge pile of books. I didn't mind though because it kept me busy and I was getting paid to do this, so who was I to argue. I put the new books on the roll cart and started putting them away, but then a different type of book caught my eye. It was a large leatherbound book and the title read ‘werebears, werewolves and werecats’. It was a weird book to be in a library, but then again we had a lot of supernatural fiction books, so it didn't really surprise me that much, but it looked like a good read though. I put it back on the roll cart, deciding that I would check it out at the end of my shift and read it when I got back home. I finished putting the rest of the books back on the shelves, tidied everything up as I went along and after four hours of work it was time for me to head home.
“Mr. Colo, I would like to check this book out please.” I said, handing him the book and he just smiled and nodded.
“Interesting choice of book, I didn't know you liked the supernatural.” Mr. Colo said, looking at the title.
“Yes, I love it.” I replied, as Mr. Colo put the book through for me.
“You’ll have to let me know if it's any good.” Mr. Colo said, giving me the book back.
“I will, thank you.” I replied and he smiled at me. I put the book in my backpack and when I looked at the time I saw that I was running a little bit later than normal, so I would have to run home to get there and get everything ready for when dad got home. I ran out of the school and straight home as fast as I could, but thankfully I made it in time. I always allow myself plenty of time to be able to get everything done before dad gets home from work, that way I won't have to see him and can just stay in my room. I threw my backpack at the bottom of the stairs and went straight to the kitchen to start cooking dinner, deciding to make stuffed mushrooms and cheese sticks with rice. It didn't take long and I was soon finished, so I placed dad's plate of food down on the table with two beers next to it and then ate my dinner in the kitchen. After I was done I scrambled to do the washing up and clean the kitchen, then grabbed my backpack and hurried upstairs to my room. I took a quick shower, dried off and put my pyjamas on. I grabbed the book out of my backpack and opened it up, but before I even read the first word I heard my dad's car pulling up. I hurried to turn the lights out and jumped into bed, trying to fall asleep before he came upstairs. I closed my eyes tight and listened as the front door opened and closed, then I heard his footsteps heading into the dining room. He left me alone that night, I guess he must have liked the dinner I made, that or the two beers I left out for him. I don't care what it was, I was just thankful that he decided not to come and wake me up tonight by punching or slapping me.

I got home from school, but I couldn't get my mind off Star. I had so many questions about her, but I knew she wouldn't answer them. I didn't know what to do, so I decided to talk to my mom and dad once they got back from wherever they were. I went up to my room, threw my backpack next to my desk and went to the bathroom to take a shower, but halfway through I heard the front door open and knew that my parents were back. I hurried to get out of the shower, quickly drying off and getting dressed then rushed down the stairs to them. I went straight to my dad's office and knocked on the door, waiting for him to let me in.
“Come in.” My dad said and I opened the door, walked in and closed it behind me. I took a seat in front of my dad's desk and my mom immediately looked up at me.
“What's wrong?” My mom asked, making my dad look up at me straight away.
“I met my mate at school, but there's something wrong. She keeps avoiding me and I haven't seen her face properly yet.” I replied and they both looked at me weird.
“What's her name? What do you mean you haven't seen her face properly yet? How is that even possible?” My dad asked, confused.
“Her name is Star. I haven't seen her face properly because she wears this really baggy hoodie and keeps the hood over her face, like she is hiding something. I have only ever seen her in baggy clothes, nothing that actually fits her. I don't understand what's wrong or how I can help her. I asked if I could walk her to her next class and she flat out refused, saying that she would get in trouble, but I have no idea who with or why.” I said, but when I looked up my mom had gone as white as a sheet.
“Mom, are you okay?” I asked, but she just stood there, like she was in a daze. My dad held her hand and squeezed it, snapping her out of it, but she was still as white as a sheet.
“Honey, are you okay? What's wrong? What are you thinking?” My dad asked her, but her eyes glazed over and I knew that she was mind-linking my dad. I looked at both of them for a few minutes before finally having enough.
“Mom, dad, what's going on?” I asked, getting worried and frustrated. They stopped mind-linking each other and turned their attention back to me, but they just gave me sad smiles.
“Nothings going on. We will help her and bring her here, but this is something that I can't explain to you, it's something that she will tell you when the time's right.” My mother said, slightly choked up. Even though I wanted to, I knew not to bother asking anymore questions because they wouldn't tell me anything. I nodded to them and got up from my chair, but when I got to the door I turned and eyed them suspiciously. I sighed and then left, going back to my room. This is just great, first my mate is actually hiding from me and now my parents are hiding something from me, what the hell?
