Chapter eight meeting the Alpha

~~Star’s P.O.V~~

  Emma walked inside first, but then she turned around to see that I was still standing in the hallway, not moving a muscle, until Emma came back and took my hand in hers.

  “It's okay, he won't bite. I promise, he's a big teddy bear.” Emma whispered, making me smile and step into the office with her. I looked around the beautiful office, there were so many books on the shelves and a huge white marble desk with a huge flat screen computer, it looked like one of those that you just had to touch the screen and do whatever you wanted without the use of a mouse, on the other side of the room was a sofa that looked really comfy. We stood there for a few seconds before Emma cleared her throat and her husband Leo stood up, gently smiling at her. He had to lean to the side to see me because I was standing right behind Emma, still trying to hide. Emma stepped to the side and I could see her husband more clearly now, he was tall with shoulder length dark hair and hazel eyes.

  “Well hello, you must be Star. My son Nash has told me so much about you that I feel as if I have known you for years. How are you? How was your first night here?” Leo said and I had to raise my head to look at him, he was that tall. He seemed nice, but he also looked like he demanded respect.

  “I slept peacefully thank you and thank you for letting me stay here. Your wife Emma has already helped me so much….” I said and then turned to face Emma. I know I was a bit harsh and mean to her when I first met her, but I had no idea who she was or if I could even trust her.

  “Thank you for stitching me up and for the cream, you were right it really has helped. I slept like a log for the first time in ages, I had a few weird dreams about wolves and bears, but that's normal for me, I always have weird dreams.” I said, laughing, but Leo and Emma both gave me a weird look and then looked at each other, then back at me, making me feel as if I had said or done something wrong.

  “Well, erm, you are more than welcome to stay for as long as you like. You are family now and I know that you still have a few weeks of school left, so maybe Kelly could take you to get a nice dress for the ceremony.” Leo said, making me relax a little.

  “Thank you, I think I have plenty of money for a dress, but….” I started to say, but Leo started shaking his head and it made me stop. Had I said something wrong again.

  “Sweetie, you don't have to worry about money. You save your money and put it in an account or do some online shopping, but this is on us. Nash and Kelly will go with you, she's good at picking out dresses and I’m sure she will have you pick out a lot more stuff as well. Don't worry about carrying the bags either, everyone at the mall knows to ship on the same day to our home.” Leo said and I was a little surprised, no one has ever been this nice to me before and it felt a little weird.

  “Thank you Leo, sir and Emma, mrs. you are both very nice.” I said and was given a very serious look from Emma.

  “There is no need to call us sir or mrs, just Emma and Leo will do.” Emma said, making me nod. I could get used to this, people being friendly to me and actually wanting me around, but I knew better than to let my guard down, I had learned that the hard way and it would take a lot of time before I fully trusted someone. The door to the office burst open and made me nearly jump out of my skin when Kelly ran inside, laughing at Nash as he ran after her and tackled her, making Emma and Leo both smirk, but me still trying to calm my racing heart. They came into the room so fast that it was just like my dad did when he was drunk and angry.

  “Come on kids, get up and meet our guest, even though you both already know her.” Emma said, but when she looked back at me she saw how I was still trying to calm myself down.

  “Are you okay?” Emma whispered and I quickly nodded, not wanting to draw any more attention to myself. Kelly shoved her brother off her and he landed in a heap on the floor next to her, she tossed him his car keys and stood up, coming over to me.

  “Hi Star, I’m Kelly, we have a few classes together and this here, is my not so shy brother Nash, even though he is acting all shy right now.” Kelly said, making me smile at how straight forward she was. Nash walked over to us and elbowed his sister in the arm.

  “Oww.” Kelly playfully said, winking her eye at me.

  “Hi Star.” Nash said, blushing a little, which made him look really cute.

  “I'm glad you're here. I’m so sorry for what your dad did to you, if I had known about it sooner I would have helped you sooner rather than later, but you're here now and you're safe.” Nash said, making me feel ashamed, but when I looked into his eyes I could tell that he sincerely meant it and that made me feel a bit better.

  “You want to go outside and I can show you around?” Nash asked, looking hopeful. I thought for a moment and although I was a little nervous I knew that I needed to try and work through it, especially with how nice they had all been to me so far. 

  “Sure, I would like that. Where should we go first?” I asked and he looked like he was deep in thought as he ran a hand through his hair.

  “How about the pool area?” Nash replied and took my hand, but when he did I felt a spark and jerked my hand back.

  “What the hell was that? It was like a spark of electricity between us when you took my hand. I’ve never felt that before with anyone.” I said and I was still talking when I realised that Nash hadn't said a single word. I shut my mouth and looked up at him.

  “Sorry, I tend to talk a lot when I’m nervous.” I said, bowing my head in embarrassment, but then Nash started to laugh. 

  “It's fine, I felt it too. Come on, let’s start the tour.” Nash said, looking right at me and I nodded. I followed him out of the office, out the door and to the pool area, it was really nice here, but I didn't notice when Nash had stopped until it was too late and I bumped into his back.

  “I’m sorry, I wasn't paying attention to where I was walking. I was looking around and didn't see you stop.” I said, backing up and babbling again. Nash turned to face me and looked deep into my eyes.

  “Listen Star, it wasn't just by chance that I sat by you in class. When I saw you sitting alone, I was drawn to you and I just knew that there was something special about you. I knew I liked you right away….shoot, I won't beat around the bush….” Nash said, blushing and looking really nervous. 

  “What's wrong? Just spit it o…..” I said, but was cut off by Nash.

  “Will you be my girlfriend, Star? I promise that I will keep you safe, I promise to never hurt you or cheat on you.” Nash said, completely surprising me. I was completely speechless, I've never had a boyfriend before, in fact I've never had a male friend before either, but how the hell would I even start to tell him that. I opened my mouth to start telling him, but quickly closed it when I was unsure of what to say. I must have done this a few times when I decided to do what Nash did and not beat around the bush, it would be best to just come right out and say it, then leave it up to him what he wants to do.

  “I've never had a boyfriend before, I've never even had a male friend before. I mean I've kissed a boy, but that was because the boy was dared to do it, but that's it. I don't know how to be a girlfriend, but if you want me to be your girlfriend, okay I will, but someone around here is going to have to explain things to me because I’m not sure what to do.” I said, babbling again because of how nervous I was. Kelly suddenly cleared her throat, making both Nash and I jump at her sudden arrival. Had she just heard everything we had said or had she only just arrived? God this was so embarrassing, I bet Nash and her would find this so funny.

  “Sorry guys, I was coming to join you, but I didn't want to interrupt your conversation. Listen Star, there's nothing to be ashamed or embarrassed about, I think it's lovely that Nash will be your first boyfriend and I’m sure he does too.” Kelly said and I looked at Nash who had a huge smile on his face, but started blushing when he saw me and Kelly looking at him.

  “Star, you don't have to say or do anything you don't want to do, Nash won't force you to do anything at all. Besides, being a girlfriend is easy, you just do what you're doing now. You hold hands, you talk and laugh, every now and then you kiss, take walks together and go on dates, maybe to see a movie or go to dinner. Then when the time comes and you are both ready you can go further, but that will be up to the both of you to decide.” Kelly said, making me blush. I looked at Nash again and he was still smiling from ear to ear and had a dazed look on his face, but I had no idea why. Was it because I said yes or was it because he would be my first boyfriend?
