SABINA’S POV
“So you mean THE Marcus Pressler died and left all this to your name?” asked Roberto
“Yes he did,” I said amused by the fact that he couldn’t believe that a woman was running this operation and no man had managed to knock me down yet
“You mean all that you have you got from Marcus?” he asked
“No half of what I own was given to me by Marcus the rest I accumulated along the way,” I said
“And you were not even married to him nor have any kids with him, why did he give you all this?” he asked I had now grown tired of his endless questions.
“Is this an interview because if it is and you are a journalist you are going to have to schedule an appointment with Kate like everybody else” I said irritated
“No, I am sorry it’s just that I am just amazed at how a woman could run such a successful business without running it to the ground.” He said arrogantly
It was for this reason that I was about to leave this arrogant man broke and with nothing to his name. He was exactly like Alex, he thought women were a tool at his disposal and he could use them anyhow. He stood for everything that I despised, he was into human trafficking and sold women at such a cheap price to have them abused by the rich men that bought them, that was how this 50-year-old man made his money and I was here to take it all and help those women that I rescued from those predators start afresh.
Doing what I did in Italy was very dangerous but I had been told that was where most of these men that considered themselves Dons resided and I had to be at the heart of the operation. I hadn’t completely changed Marcus’ business, I had simply removed human traffickers from the company profile. I still did money laundering and I still supplied cocaine back in the states. Marcus’ clients had remained faithful to me despite the fact that I was a woman. But that was all thanks to Piet, he was the one that had introduced me to all of them and made sure that they knew they were still in safe hands. They were skeptical at first but all their fears were put to rest when I rose up to the plate.
Arianna, Kate, and I moved to Tuscany, in Italy so that we could expand our territory. I had kept Kate around because she had proved to be faithful and showed me that she had no ill plans for me and that she was on my side. Arianna didn’t trust her and always said that one day she would betray us, but then again Arianna never trusted anyone. She wouldn’t even trust you even if you fed her every day. Arianna was still with Rob and Rob was now working as one of the few men that worked with me.
I was such a feminist that I employed mostly women to take charge of all my security because I believed if men could do something well then women could do that same thing twice as well. Even my bodyguards were women.
And I was here today to prove to Roberto just how capable I was.
“So what can a woman like you do, in those 6-inch stilettos and that short tight-fitting skirt?” Roberto asked me arrogantly while he pulled his Cuban cigar.
I was disgusted, to say the least...
“You mean these heels?” I asked raising my leg seductively and placing it on top of the table that was between us.
“Yes those heels,” he said brushing my leg making me cringe
“Besides seducing you and having you melt in my hands, I can take everything you own and wish to own in the blink of an eye. While you are still waiting for me to attack from the back I come head-on, you know why? Because I fear no one and I fear nothing” I said and he laughed ignoring the warning hidden in my words
“My darling you wouldn’t be able to take anything from me even if I gave you all the passwords,” he said
“Ok we will see about that, but just know they don’t call me the La Dona for nothing,” I said as I dropped the grey envelop on the table. The envelope had documents that he was supposed to sign; he thought it was a contract to partner up with him. But I would never be caught dead in a partnership with this pervert who made money off of women’s pain and suffering.
He took the envelope and started going through all the documents carefully, but I had o=already done this before and I knew just how to get what I wanted from men like him.
“Oh, you don’t trust me?” I asked as he stayed focused on the contents of the documents, even if he used a magnifying glass he would never be able to find what was hidden in there.
“I trust you la dona but I like to be sure of what I am getting myself into,” he said with a smirk, and then when he was seemingly satisfied with everything that was in the documents he took out his pen and started signing.
I watched in excitement as he signed page by page and put his initials on the bottom left corner of each page. This was truly a life-changing moment for me; of all the things that I had done successfully, this was by far the most satisfying of them all.
“So many papers to sign” he commented at the thick pile of papers that he still had to sign
“It’s because it’s such a thick agreement,” I said
“Shall I order champagne while you finish up, I don’t know about you but I have much to celebrate from this deal” I said with a sweet smile as I called for the waitress who came running immediately
“Please give me your most expensive champagne,” I said and she nodded and ran off returning after a minute with a bottle of champagne in an ice bucket.
After Roberto was done signing I took the papers and put them back in the envelope and then instructed the waitress to open the champagne because celebrations were now in order. I was officially the richest and most sought-after woman in all of Italy and possibly the world. Some men dreamt of being with me while some just wanted me dead.
“It was a pleasure doing business with you, Roberto, I will take these to my lawyer and I will be in touch with you within the next seven days,” I said with a polite smile that no one could ever decipher
“You are not staying longer? There is still another business proposal I want us to discuss” he said
“I don’t think so... I think I have wrapped up everything that I had to hear. Now if you will excuse me I have an empire to run” I said as I stood up fixed my skirt and walked away knowing the next time I saw this man, it wouldn’t be a friendly meeting.
