CHAPTER SIX

CHRISTIAN POV

I can finally get a good look at the mystery girl. She is about 5'8", with long red curly hair, and blue/grey eyes. She has a very thin body but no doubt that it she filled out a little she would have a knock-out body! She is gorgeous, to say the least. When our eyes meet, I feel this warm flutter in my belly. I smirk at the way she is eyeing me. "Are you done checking me out?"

She quickly looks away and looks at the floor. "Sorry."

She looked so adorable acting all shy and all. I see that she is about to leave, and I can't figure it out, but I just have this urge to get to know her better. "Don't be, I like it when a gorgeous woman checks me out!" I can't help but flash her a smile. I can tell that she is hiding something that is causing her pain, but all I really want is to see what she looks like when she smiles.

When she returned the smile. I get the breath knocked out of me at the sight!

She is beautiful! Deuce says and I am in total agreement.

I notice that there is absolutely NO s****l attraction to her, so Deuce and I come to the conclusion that this goddess in front of us is NOT our mate. Deuce, we need to find out why there is this connection between us. I mean she is a human...right?"

Deuce thinks about this for a while. She doesn't smell pure human. I can sense that there is something supernatural about her, but I doubt that she is even aware of it. I will have to talk with the moon goddess about this.

I extended my hand towards her. "My name is Christian Sampson, but you can call me Chris."

Without any hesitation, she grasps my hand and shakes it. " My name is Virginia Elliot, but my friends call me Rae."

I feel this warm fuzzy feeling where our hands are connected. The feeling of familiarity is present again, there is also this bell in my head at hearing the name Elliot. I know that I know that name from somewhere in my past. I c****d my head to the side as I looked at her. "I feel like I have met you before, but for the life of me I don't know from where."

She giggles at my confusion. "Yeah, I was thinking the same thing. Oh well, I guess that it was meant to be for us to meet." She let go of my hand. "I have to get back to my friends."

"Maybe we can hang out sometime?" I noticed that she was about to answer when none other than Tammy slammed her shoulder into Rae from behind. I instantly become angry! How dare she defy me and how dare she act that way towards Rae! Tracy?

Yes Gamma? I could tell that he was nervous.

Why the f**k is Alpha Kentwood and his b***h of a daughter in this diner WITHOUT my all clear?! I am seething by this point.

Uh...well, Gamma, she was being very unreasonable and being very much a b***h! Alpha Kentwood buckled under her constant nagging!

I cut the link, fuming at this slip up. I see Tammy glaring daggers at Rae and see that Rae's not afraid at all. I'm impressed. I was about to say something when Rae beat me to it.

"Excuse me, but if I was in the way you could have politely asked me to move, instead of being rude!"

I don't try to hide my smile and admiration of the way Rae was handling this situation. I notice that the Alpha sits opposite me ans scoots towards the window. I see him roll his eyes at the way his daughter is behaving.

"How dare you talk to me like that!" Tammy was very angry by this point, but surprisingly, I couldn't care. She has been acting bitchy and slutty, so maybe she needs to be brought down a peg or two.

Rae turns towards Alpha and I and addresses Alpha Kentwood with respect. "I am sorry for disturbing you sir." She then turns to me. "I would love to hang out sometime with you Chris." She then leaves and sits at the table with her friends. I can't help but frouwn at the emptiness I feel when she left. This is all way too weird! I, however, am very impressed with the way she handled Tammy and how she was respectful to the Alpha. She is definitely different for a human.

"Who the f**k was that?!" Tammy says with barely controlled fury.

I turned my icy gaze on her. "SHE is of no concern of yours!" I snapped at her. I know that I am bordering on being disrespectful, but neither my wolf nor I care. Deuce has already talked to Tammy's wolf and Tammy has been blocking her and her wolf, Jazmin, does not like or agree with how she is acting. To Deuce and I, if the human side disrespects the wolf's side, then that human doesn't deserve to be respected.

That's right man, this crazy chick is just glad that there are humans currently around and that I respect her wolf!

Tell me about it Deuce! Tammy actually thinks that she has a claim on every man around her! Don't worry, I will handle her.

Deuce sits back and lets me handle this chick. He knows that there isn't much he can do to her right now. She sits next to her father before throwing me a glare.

"What is your problem? I just don't like that b***h!"

I quickly reached across the table and took one of her wrists in a vice grip. It was taking all of my control not to snap her f*****g neck at this point!

She yelps out in surprise. "Chris? Baby, what is going on with you?!"

I am momentarily speechless and shocked at what she just said. I even noticed that her father is watching the interaction with surprise. I looked back at Tammy. "DON'T. CALL. ME. CHRIS. OR. BABY!" I said through clenched teeth. "Tammy I have already told you...YOU ARE NOT MY MATE!" I let go of her wrist, not wanting to touch her anymore.

"But you let that human trash call you Chris!" Tammy whined.

"That human trash, as you put it, has more integrity than you! Being an Alpha's daughter, don't you think that you should be more respectful? Rae is my friend and you are not!" I feel disgusted by her show of affection and obvious jealousy of Rae. "If you ever talk to me this way again then I will have to tell Alpha Braxton about the way you disrespected his Gamma!"

Tammy has this look of barely controlled rage at hearing my words. I can tell that she really wants to say something, but she quickly shuts her mouth and I hear Alpha Kentwood inhale sharply. He then looks to his daughter. "Tammy, if you cost us a valuable ally, then I will deny you the Alpha title and even your mate, when or if you find him! Stop acting like a w***e and shut your mouth for once!"

She looked like she was about to argue, but one glare from both her father and I had her shut her mouth instantly. By this time, the waitress brought us menus and glasses of water. "Hello, my name is Becky and I will be your waitress. Can I start y'all off with drinks?"

I flashed her one of my smiles. "Well, Becky, I will take a glass of 7-UP, I will also take the Nacho Supreme, Cheese Sticks and Jalapeño poppers as appetizers."

Becky quickly jots down my order, then she looks at Roger and Tammy. "And what would you both like?"

"I will have a glass of Merlot please." Alpha Roger smiles at her.

Tammy just looks at Becky with utter disgust. "I will just have an Iced Tea."

Becky doesn't even notice Tammy's glare towards her. "Alright, I will be back with those drinks." She then leaves.

"Tammy, watch your attitude! These are humans!" I can't wait to get her back to her pack, she is seriously pissing me off!

I grab my phone out and send a message to my beta letting him know where we are. I see Becky heading our way with our drinks, so I wait until she is done setting our glasses in front of us. "Excuse me, Becky, you wouldn't happen to have a piece of paper and a pen would you?"

She smiles at me. "Let me see what I can find for you." She is only gone a few minutes before she returns with a piece of paper and a pen.

"Is everyone ready to order?" She asks as she hands me what I asked for.

I let the Alpha and Tammy order first. I wrote my phone number on the paper.

Tammy eyes me but doesn't say anything. "I will take the Chef's Salad with Ranch."

Alpha Roger orders next. "I will take the French Dip with a side of clam chowder."

I waited until she looked my way. "I will take the Double Bacon Mushroom Burger, rare, with a side of steak fries and a side of Ranch please."

Becky was just about to leave when I remember the guys outside. "Oh, Becky, I almost forgot that I am going to need thirty burgers sent outside to the Black SUV's outside please."

Her eyes widen in shock, but she nods and eagerly jots down the new order. "Absolutely, will there be anything else?"

I handed her the paper. "Please give this to the red head at the table in the middle of the diner. Give it to her when we leave please."

She just nodded her head and took the paper. "I will go check on your appetizers now." With that she left.

Within a couple of minutes, we received our appetizers. I was not impressed with the Jalapeño Poppers, so I let Tammy and her father enjoy them. I loved the nachos and cheese sticks and kept glancing over to where Rae was seated. I felt better knowing that I could physically see her and the nagging feeling that I know her from somewhere is still present and frustrating!

I was pulled out of my thoughts when Becky arrived with our meals. The smell was intoxicating and had my mouth watering instantly. I was starving, and this trip was going to take longer than we had planned due to Tammy. If she keeps her s**t up it will take us another hour to get to their pack!

As we ate, my thoughts kept going back to when Rae snubbed Tammy. It was very amusing that she showed absolutely no fear, especially for a human, well-part human. She was the type of girl that would make any male proud to call her his! That thought alone set my teeth on edge, and it also confused me even more!

It's because of the connection that we have with her. The stronger the connection, the stronger the urge to protect each other gets. It's not near as intense as the mate bond but stronger than the pack bond. It feels like a blood-relative bond, but again, I'm not 100% sure. Deuce explained to me.
