Third Person's POV

"A lawyer?"

Kunot-noong nakatingin si Sav kay Al nang ulitin niya ang inimporma ni Al sakaniya. A lawyer from the Augustin just entered his fortress— the District II this morning, and just like what he ordered, the lawyer was immediately disposed of.

Tumango si Al. "There's a little commotion on-going, but it will soon to disappear. The execution was perfect, ipinalabas na aksidente ang nangyari." Pagpapaliwanag ni Al.

Napatango si Sav. "Good. That would be enough to threaten that old man from Augustin. They wouldn't dare to bother the district II anymore or they should face worse than this." Pinal na sambit ni Sav.

"What about your task?" Pangungumusta niya sa ipinapagawa niya kay Al. Ang paghahanap sa nararapat na babaeng magdadala sa tagapagmana niya.

Al handed a folder over to him, kinuha niya iyon saka na binuksan. Bumungad sakaniya ang tila resume ng isang babae. Binasa niyang mabuti ang impormasyon tungkol rito. Napailing-iling siya. The woman is a former supermodel, and she is indeed a beauty but she was caught into a scandal 3 years ago, now it seems that she is jobless, only her beauty remains, dahil walang agency ang tumatanggap sakaniya.

Ibinaba na ni Sav ang folder sa mesa saka napahinga ng malalim. The woman is not his type, nor his taste, but he is running out of time. Nakalagay rin naman sa folder na ang hinihingi lang nitong kapalit ay ang makabalik ito sa industriya ng pagmomodelo at hinding-hindi hihingi ng ano mang kapalit, ni ang pagiging Ina sa bata ay kakalimutan nito, and that's what he is looking for.

Sinalubong niya ang tingin ni Al, "This woman will do. I need to meet her tomorrow."

Napasuntok sa hangin si Al dahil sa sinabi niya, halata ang saya sa mga mata nito dahil sa wakas ay natapos na ang pinapagawa niya rito, "Copy, boss."

"By the way boss, nandoon ngayon sa District II si Sir Lorenzo." Napataas ang kilay ni Sav sa narinig.

"Does he know about the Augustins?" Tanong niya.

Nagkibit-balikat si Al, "Panigurado nakarating na sakaniya ang balita."

Biglang tumayo si Sav mula sa pagkkaaupo sa swivel chair saka inabot ang coat at sinuot iyon. Nagtatakang nakatingin naman sakaniya si Al.

"May appointment ka, boss?" Tanong ni Al. Umiling lang siya.

"Let's go to District II." Aya niya rito. Natigilan si Al kapagkuwan ay napangisi.

Sophia Alviz' POV

Pinipilit kong pakalmahin ang sarili ko habang nakatulala sa isang direksyon. Nakasalikop ang mga palad ko habang nakadantay naman ang siko ko sa office-table. Si Hailey naman ay sinusubukang kontakin ulit ang hospital kung saan sinasabing nandoon ngayon ang bangkay ni Attorney Ramirez.

Nangingilid na ang luha ko dahil sa halo-halong emosyon na nararamdaman ko. I can't believe this! Attorney Ramirez is a promising one, how could he die all of a sudden?! Ang saya ko kani-kanina lang dahil alam kong hindi nabibigo si Attorney Ramirez sa mga tinatrabaho nito, but now, I can only think of one possibility...

The Ragienza killed him! There are a lot of rumors going around that they are involved on illegal businesses, that they are dangerous, and I even heard that they're also a powerful mafia-group, but I chose to ignore that because there is no single evidence to prove those rumors.

My jaw clenched in anger, just thinking of the word 'mafia' enrages me. I slam my table in anger, and if looks could kill, anyone might die just by catching my gaze right now.

"I will make them pay!" Napatayo ako mula sa kinauupuan ko at dali-daling kinuha ang bag ko.

"Ma'am, k-kumalma lang po kayo, I'm contacting the hospital right no—

Tiningnan ko ng matalim si Hailey at kita ko ang takot sa mga mata niya at napahalumbaba nang salubungin niya ang tingin ko.

"I can't wait any longer, Hailey! I need to confirm with my own eyes that Attorney Ramirez is really dead, and if he is dead, we can only assume one thing," I paused, as I looked away and took a deep breathe.

"The Ragienza killed him," malalim ang boses na pagpapatuloy ko, rinig ko naman ang pagsinghap ni Hailey.

"M-Ma'am, paano niyo po nasasabi 'yan? B-Baka mapahamak po kayo kapag may nakarinig sainyo." May halong pangamba na wika ni Hailey.

Hindi ko pinansin ang sinabi niya, binuksan ko ang drawer sa table ko at dinukot ang b***l roon. Again, i heard Hailey's gasps. Inilagay ko muna ang b***l sa bag ko bago ko tiningnan si Hailey.

"I've been trying to ignore the fact that the Ragienza are dangerous, and decieving. Maging ikaw Hailey, you warned me about them, right? Now, this is the time that I'll believe you, the Ragienza might be the cause of this incident, and I will not let this go! Even if it kills me!"

Napaawang ang labi ni Hailey at hindi makapagsalita, mukhang shock pa ito dahil nabitawan pa nito ang cellphone na nasa may tenga niya.

"M-Ma'am, kung ganoon po ay mas lalong hindi dapat kayo magpadalos-dalos, mapanganib po--

"Believe me, I don't fear the likes of them. I've already seen worse than death." Matalim na saad ko bago nilagpasan si Hailey.

I want this company, and I fight for this company because I'm planning to take down someone who's also involve with the mafia's, I really hate and despise those kind of people, and now that the Ragienza is slowly showing their true colors, then they won't be safe from me either. It will be killing two birds with one stone, I will do everything to convict them, and to get the land that I want for my project.

Pagbukas ko ng pintuan ng opisina ko ay natigilan ako nang bumungad saakin ang mukha ni Javer. My anger rise even more, when I saw the grin in his face. I just glared at him.

"Where are you going? The death of your attorney has been spread in the whole company, and do you know who to blame for it?" Halata ang pag-uuyam sa boses ni Javer nang sabihin niya iyon, bahagya akong natigilan at hindi nakapagsalita.

He's grinning as if he already won the competition between us, at kung mabubunot ko lang ang b***l na dala ko ay itinutok ko na sakaniya ito, but now, that would be a waste... a waste of bullet.

I smirked back, kita ko naman ang pagkawala ng ngisi sa labi nito.

"How could you smirk like that? Have you lost your conscience, huh Sophia--

"Is that what you came here for? To mock me? To what? To make me feel bad about something that only God knows what happens? Bakit Javer? Diyos ka ba para matinag ako? You are just nothing but a loser, and you mocking me the moment my lawyer's death has spread, is a solid proof that you're nothing but a loser." Dinuro ko pa ang dibdib niya ng napakadiin at pinakalapit-lapit ko ang mukha ko sa mukha niya habang nagsasalita.

He wasn't able to move, he looks so taken a back and surprise by the integrity I showed him. Bago pa ito makapagsalita ay tinalikuran ko na siya saka na mabilis na naglakad patungo sa elevator.

"I WILL MAKE SURE THAT YOU WILL LOSE, SOPHIA!"

Napabugo ako ng marahas na hangin nang marinig ko ang nanggagalaiting sigaw ni Javer bago sumara ang elevator. Nanlalambot ang tuhod na napasandal ako dingding ng elevator.

I really feel so accountable and guilty of Atty. Ramirez, but I can't bear to show Javer a glimpse of my suffering. He's my enemy, and showing weakness before your enemy is the same as giving them the upper hand to manipulate things between the two of you, and I will never let that happen.

At mukhang totoo nga ang sinabi ni Javer saakin. A lot of employees are staring at me, and I can even hear them gossiping about me while I walk towards the exit of the company, hindi ko nalang sila pinansin at nagtuloy-tuloy na sa labas ng kumpanya patungo sa parking lot.

Wala akong pakialam sa mga sinasabi nila at kung magpapaapekto man ako ay wala iyong maidudulot na mabuti saakin, ni maresolba ang nagaganap ngayon ay hindi mangyayari kung magpapaapekto man ako.

Pagdating sa parking lot ay kaagad akong sumakay ng kotse ko, muling ako napahinga ng malalim bago pinaandar ang makina ng sasakyan. I was about to step on the gas when the door on the passenger seat was opened. Dali-dali naman na pumasok ang hinihingal na si Hailey at umupo sa passenger seat.

Masama ang tingin na ipinukol ko rito habang hingal pa rin itong napatingin saakin, para itong natigilan at napagtanto ang ginawa.

"Get the hell out of here. I do remember giving you a leave, and a ticket to Shanghai." May pagbabanta sa tono ng boses ko.

Napalunok naman ito at kahit na halatang natatakot ay pinipilit na maging matapang habang salubong ang tingin saakin.

"H-Hindi ko po magagawang hayaan nalang po kayo, knowing how straightforward you are, and how impulsive you are... n-nababahala po ako sa posibleng gawin ninyo. Let me accompany you, M-Ma'am Alviz." Mahina at pautal-utal na pagsasalita nito.

Pinanliitan ko siya ng mata, "What can you even do?" Diretso at prankang tanong ko sakaniya.

Huminga siya ng malalim, "K-Kahit ano po, surely, there will be something that I can do, so let me accompany you, Ma'am, I can even be your human shiel--

"Wear your seatbelt." Salansan ko sa pagsasalita niya, natigilan naman ito saka parang natatarantang sinuot ang seatbealt, kahit na hindi pa nito tuluyang nasusuot iyon ay tinapakan ko na ang gas ng kotse saka iyon pinaharurot paalis. I heard Hailey gaspz.

She's been gasping for several times now, is she even sure on accompanying me? Baka atakihin siya sa puso.

After a while, we found ourselves entering the District II. The whole ride, Hailey was silent, and the fact that I am with someone, it suddenly calmed me down a bit, the impulse I felt a while ago has calmed down, now I can think more clearly.

"What did the hospital said?" Seryosong tanong ko kay Hailey habang tutok na tutok ang tingin ko sa daan.

"Sadly Ma'am, they are no longer reachable."

Napahigpit ang hawak ko sa manubela dahil sa sinabi ni Hailey. Too ridiculous to be true, a hospital? Cannot be reach?

I am not in my prime now, kung bobo ako. If it's other people, they wouldn't even try to suspect anything else, pero hindi ako, because surely, this is out of manipulation! This is power... a power of someone dangerous, someone illegal... and as much as I want to tell myself that it is not the Ragienza... I can't help myself but to point the blame on them...

Ragienza... how unfortunate it is, they encountered someone as vengeful as me.

I already has a plan B if the Ragienza only refused to sell the piece of land that I am trying to get, but the sudden death of my lawyer? I won't turn a blind eye on this.

"M-Ma'am! The hospital answered! Puwede niyo po bang ihinto muna saglit ang sasakyan sa may gilid? Kakausapin ko lang po sila." Napalingon ako kay Hailey nang sabihin niya iyon, napasulyap rin ako sa cellphone niyang on-call na. Nagsalubong ang kilay ko, I wonder what the hospital will say...

Hindi ako umimik at inihinto nalang ang sasakyan sa gilid ng kalsada, tuluyan na kaming nakapasok sa District II. Going north is where the beaches of the Ragienza's are, doon rin sa bahaging norte mula sa direksyon namin ang parte ng gusto kong bilhin na lupa, pero sa kanlurang bahagi kung saan may lilikuang daan ay doon ang papuntang ospital rito sa District II. We are almost there.

"Hello? This is the Augustins, speaking. May I ask about the report I got this morning about someone named Crhistopher Ramirez, he's one of our company's employee--

Nawala ang atensyon ko sa pakikinig sa pagsasalita ni Hailey nang mahagip ng mata ko ang iilang itim na sasakyan na dumaan. Nangunot ang noo ko habang sinusundan ng tingin ang mga ito.

For no reason, I suddenly felt weird... my heart throb, as if my instincts got the best out of me... I suddebly stirred the wheel of the car and stepped on the gas, following behind the suspiscios cars.

"Ma'am Alviz! S-Saan po tayo pupunta? Lalagpasan na po natin ang daan papuntang ospital--

"Shh... I think, those cars are owned by the Ragienza, let's follow them." Seryosong sagot ko kay Hailey pero nakatutok pa rin ang mata ko sa mga itim na sasakyan na nasa sinusundan ko.

"B-Bakit naman po natin sila susundan? K-Kailangan na po nating puntahan si Atty. Ramirez.. saka hindi po ba kayo natatakot?" Pawang kabadong wika ni Hailey.

I just shok my head, "If I can meet the boss now, then much better... I can confront him about the land, and even the death of our beloved Attorney Ramirez."

I heard her gasped. One more gasps, and I think she'll lose it.

"P-Pero Ma'am, masyado po 'yang dalos-dalos, parang pinagbibintangan niyo lang pp sila at wala kayong hawak na ebidensya, saka aksidente raw po ang nangyari kay Attorney."

Ngumisi ako sa sinabi ni Hailey saka siya tinapunan ng tingin, "I know Hailey, that's why we're following them, to confirm everything by our ownselves."
