Athena had been in bed for days, only leaving once to attend her mother's funeral. I had tried to comfort her and be there for her, but I had to get back to my duties as Alpha. I would check in on her throughout the day and bring her food, but the food had barely been touched by the next time I came to check on her. I could feel her pain, it was constantly gnawing at my heart and hard to ignore. If it felt like this for me, I couldn't even begin to imagine how it was feeling for her. I didn't know what to do for her, everything I tried had failed. Gavin mourned for a couple of days, but he was more angry than anything.
