I kept it together until I walked into the hallway and out of Lawrence’s sight. Then I almost collapsed with relief at how normal he looked and sounded. I didn’t let Barton see it, though. A Fae queen didn’t demonstrate emotion to others… Well, not yet, anyway. I wanted to change the perception of Fae, but not outside of Faerie. Not for a while.
I followed Barton to an office notable for how neatly everything was organized, not a bit of clutter anywhere. So Doctor Lucia liked everything in its place. Including Fae?
Apparently, and my place turned out to be humble. He gestured for me to sit in a plastic chair in front of the desk, and he took the plush leather office chair behind it. I gently lowered myself and found that he towered over me.
