Chapter 10Wednesday, September 7th Barry Roth locked the diner doors. “Good job tonight, Jeremy.” Jeremy was exhausted. The stacks of dirty dishes kept coming. The heat from the ovens, the hot water and the day suffocated him. His clothing, wet with sweat stuck to his body. He couldn't wait to get home and shower. The thought of ice cold water raining down on his head made him smile. He climbed onto his scooter and pulled the helmet on over his head. “Thank you.” “You be careful on that thing. Lot of deer out this time of year.” “Yes, sir.” Roth shot Jeremy a look. “Barry. Yes, Barry. I will,” he said, starting the engine with his key.
