Not Him!

April's POV Roman took hold of my hand and led me downstairs. I put a smile on my face as we got to Raven and Roy.They both stood up as we approached them. 'Are you okay?' Raven asked worriedly. 'I wasn't but I am now. Thanks to your wonderful sweet talker of a mate here,' I said smiling. 'Come here,' Raven said as she hugged me close 'I love you,' she whispered into my ears. 'I love you too,' I said returning her hug with as much enthusiasm as she had shown. 'Make sure you enjoy yourself today,' Raven said to me. 'I will. I promise,' I said to Raven then turned to her mates, 'The ceremony is about to start and in about an hour you will both become kings so I might not be able to say this to you both again because it will be deemed insolent to talk to my kings anyhow,' I started. 'We are first your Alphas before we will become your kings. You should mind what you say,' Roy said and I scoffed. He had always been the overly serious one. 'If you both don't treat my friend right, I will forget that you are kings and that we are related,' I said. 'And what can you do?' Roman asked smiling sheepishly. 'I will skin you both alive. I will make sure you feel every pain,' I said and walked away from them to sit beside Selene. 'What got Roy's pants in a twist? What with the sour look on his face?' Selene asked me. 'I just told both your brothers to treat my girl right or I will skin them both alive,' I replied. 'Wow. You threatened Roy and you are still alive? I should guffaw right now. He doesn't take threats lightly,' Selene's smile widened. 'Good for him. The way they both treated Raven when we got here was so annoying, especially Roy,' I said. 'Yeah. But they are okay now. I am happy for them,' Selene said. 'I am happy that Raven is happy. We went through some major s**t you know,' I said. 'You are all here now,' Selene said still smiling. She actually smiles a lot like Roman. Thank goodness she is not as uptight as Roy, relating with her would have been difficult. 'Roman is such a sweet talker. Has he always been like that?' I asked. 'That is how I met them. While growing up, Roman was the doting and loving brother. Although Roy was too. It was Roman who brightened my days with his jokes. So yes, he has always been like that but wait till you meet Adrian, I call him the third leg,' Selene said. 'Adrian? Your brothers' best friend, the one who put his entire pack in trouble recently?' I asked. 'Yes. That is Adrian,' Selene said rolling her eyes. 'He is a better sweet talker than Roman but more vicious than either of the twins when crossed.' 'I don't see any viciousness in Roman. If you ask me I would say Roy is the vicious one,' I said. 'Do not be deceived by the front Roman projects nor the vibe Adrian will give when you meet him. Roy is a lot better than them when crossed, those two are merciless,' Selene said. 'I still find it difficult to believe that...' I was cut short by my dad taking my hand. 'Are you okay princess?' I saw that it was Roman that led you downstairs.' There was concern on his face. I was sitting between him and Selene but he had been busy discussing something with his brother, the former Alpha of Luna's Den when I took my seat. 'I am fine dad. You look handsome anyway,' I said quickly changing the topic. Dad smiled at me happily. I could see mum smiling happily looking beautiful in her sapphire coloured dress. Raven's parents were also seated looking good in their clothes. We were arranged according to ranking so I was privileged to sit with royalty because I am related to them. I, April, an Omega that scrubbed toilets and did any available chores Maggot, the head of Omegas deemed fit for me back at Attic Moon! What a drastic change of luck. 'Shall we all rise up as the Kings and Queen occupy their thrones?' The coordinator, an elder from the council announced bringing me out of reverie. I watched as Roy, Raven and Roman walked away from the table unto the podium. Raven was made to sit in the middle while Roy sat on her right and Roman on her left. I couldn't help the tears that poured down my face as they were crowned by the elders. Most of us couldn't control our tears. I could only wish the Luna of Attic Moon and the whole of Attic Moon were watching from their homes to see the girl they looted so much without a reason sitting beautifully on the throne. There was no victory bigger than that. As if Raven knew my thoughts, she looked my way and smiled. I smiled back through my tears. At last my best friend is a queen! My joy knew no bounds. After the ceremony was over, the after party started. It was a long time before Selene and I got to the new kings and queen. There was a long row of Alphas and Lunas wanting to great them and congratulate them. 'Congratulations my queen, I whispered as I hugged her. 'Do you have to call me that? You are my friend. You don't have to,' Raven said. 'She has to. It is the normal process,' Roy put in and I rolled my eyes. He was actually gradually becoming an annoying older brother. 'Have you guys seen Adrian anywhere?' Roman asked as he scanned the crowd. 'He said he was overseeing the drinks and food himself. According to him, no one is getting poisoned tonight,' Roy said rolling his eyes. 'I guess once beaten, twice shy. One can't be too careful,' Raven said. 'He was the one who brought that upon himself. No one is that careless here. He should take his negativity with him back to his pack,' I said hissing lightly. 'Watch it princess. You don't want to get on Adrian's bad side,' Roman said smiling wickedly. 'Adrian doesn't take lightly to insults,' Roy said looking as serious as always. 'I am not trying to insult him, I am saying the truth. He shouldn't get angry when someone put a mirror to his face. Have you guys been sugar coating things around him?' I asked. 'We haven't been sugar coating things around him. We have just been careful not to rub it in all the time,' Roy said. 'Okay. That is enough about Adrian. Come both of you let me introduce you to someone,' Raven said as she put her hands in Selene's and mine dragging us away from her mates. 'Why do I feel as if you are attacking Adrian?' Raven asked me as she was sure we are a reasonable distance from her mates. 'I just don't know why the mere thought of him annoys me. I don't like the fact that he is philandering. The fact that he almost got himself and his pack members killed for that makes me not want to meet him at all,' I said and both Raven and Selene started laughing. 'You will change your mind once you meet him. Believe me,' Raven said and I scoffed. 'Speak of the devil,' Selene said with a mischievous grin that replicated Roman's.' 'Okay now. Adrian is approaching us,' Raven said and I turned to see what they were talking about. I wouldn't deny the fact that my heart missed a beat at the sight of him. He was a delight to watch. He walked with the confidence of someone who knew what effects he had on the female population. He stopped right in front of me as his eyes started switching colours. Raven seemed not to have noticed what was happening. She came to stand beside me to introduce us but she stopped when she noticed Adrian's eyes and gasped in surprise. 'This is so not happening,' I heard Selene mutter. 'Mate.' Adrian growled. 'I am not your mate man w***e. Maybe you should play that trick on the next girl,' I said annoyed. I dashed out of the room as fast as I could. I was not going to fall for his trick. I could hear him fast on my heel but I ran as fast as I could, he couldn't catch up with me since he had not expected me to take off. I got to my room and quickly locked the door when I entered. I rested my back on the door and slumped to the floor not minding my dress. It can't be. He can't be my mate. Not him!
