An Agreement

April's POV 'What do you mean by you don't have a wolf? Is that some sick joke?' Adrian asked angrily. 'Does it look like I am joking?' I asked glaring at him. 'You are the daughter of Uncle Marcus. You are of Alpha descent, related to royalty. How can you not have a wolf?' Adrian asked sounding very angry. 'Look. I don't know how to explain that to you but all I know is that I am wolfless. Take it or you leave it,' I said then folded my arms on my chest 'Are you even listening to yourself? You are going to be a Luna and you are so unconcerned about you being wolfless,' Adrian said almost shouting at the top of his voice. 'Can you not shout? You are in the palace,' I said chiding him. 'Oh really. Is that what is more paramount to you? Maintaining decorum in the palace. How old are you? Two?' Adrian was livid and in some bizarre way, I was enjoying his mood. 'No. I am five actually. Look I don't even know why I am here bantering words with you. If you can't take the heat then get out of the kitchen,' I said shrugging. 'What is that supposed to mean? Adrian asked. 'It means that if you can't cope with the fact that your mate is wolfless then reject me and let me be free,' I said. 'Are you crazy?' How dare you say that? The mate bond is a gift. It is not something you handle with carelessness,' Adrian said pacing around like a caged wolf. 'I don't know if the mate bond is special. I don't even feel you. I don't even feel connected to you in any way whatsoever. How am I supposed to love you when I can't feel you? I can't sense you. I think rejecting me will be the best option,' I said getting up from my seat. I folded my arms on my chest stubbornly. I blinked for just a second and Adrian was on me. Since he was taller and bigger than I was, he towered over me. I was scared at first as his eyes blazed with anger. He grabbed both my shoulders so tight that I winced. I had no option but to follow his lead as he made me stand on my tip toes. 'I don't care about whatever sick thought is going on in your head princess. But I am not rejecting you. You are going to be my Luna whether you like it or not. Don't worry about feeling me or loving me. I am capable of doing that for the both of us,' Adrian said looking very angry. I must have provoked him greatly with the talk of rejection. 'I do not want to live a frustrating life,' I said furiously not minding the fact that I might be spitting in his face. Adrian suddenly grinned, making me wonder if he was bipolar. He was just looking so furious a second ago! 'Do not worry princess you can't be frustrated at all. At least I can personally tell you that of all the frustrations mates get, s****l frustration isn't going to be one of them for you.' Adrian said still grinning and then dropped a kiss on my ear. 'You are nothing but a dog in heat,' I said to him in anger the moment he let me go. 'I guess my reputation must have preceded me then princess,' he said smiling like he just said the most wonderful thing on earth. 'I hate you,' I said to Adrian in a bitterly low voice. 'The feeling is mutual princess,' Adrian said smiling annoyingly. 'And now that we have established that fact, can you go upstairs, pack your things and let us go? Your pack awaits you,' he said still smiling. 'Not on my life. I will never be your Luna. You devilish rake,' I shouted at him and he started laughing loudly as if I said something very funny. I turned on my heel at that moment and ran to my room. Mum and Dad were wrong, he is not worth my time. Adrian's POV My laughter died down the moment she turned away and my smile was replaced with a frown. Was the Moon Goddess trying to make me go mad? Why will she grant me such a stubborn and opinionated mate? 'Hey man,' Roman said beside me. I was so lost in thought that I didn't notice him arrive. 'Your Majesty,' I said without looking at him. 'Why can't you and April reach a compromise?' Roman said. 'A compromise with someone who thinks rejecting her is the best option right now?' I asked. I was angry. 'You need to handle this whole thing with the utmost care, else it will blow up in your face. You are the man in this bond handle it carefully. Besides, you are the one with the wolf that feels all things. If care is not taken, you will be at the receiving end of all the pains. Be wise,' Roman said then left leaving me in deep thoughts. Damn it. I wanted to run after Roman and ask him how and why April didn't have a wolf but I knew he would only say it wasn't his story to tell. Her wolfless state was going to make my life miserable. The only thing I could do under the circumstances was to be indifferent about my feelings for her. With a new resolve, I decided to go in search of her. I remembered that one of the twins said her room was beside mine so I stood there and knocked gently. I had not expected her to open it but she did. Immediately she realized I was the one, she wanted to close the door in my face but I took hold of the door so she had no option but to go back into the room and leave me at the door. I walked in and closed the door gently. She stood by the window and refused to face me. I was sure nothing was holding her attention outside the window, she was only doing that to ignore me. I walked closer to her by the window but not close enough to discomfit her in case she didn't want me too close. 'April. I know I have been too insensitive to your plight and I have not handled the situation very well but please let us try to salvage this mateship,' I said gently. Trying not to provoke her in any way. 'We don't share any mate bond. I can't feel you,' April said without turning around. I felt deflated, she was being unnecessarily stubborn. My wolf whimpered out loud and that called her attention. She turned to look at me with what was akin to pity in her eyes but she quickly banked it. 'Look. I can't say I understand where you are coming from because I don't have any feelings but hatred towards you. I don't even know why I hate you,' April said throwing her hands up in the air exasperatedly. 'Hate me all you want April but you cannot let my pack suffer because you hate me. I am not mincing words when I say my pack needs its Luna. I don't want a chosen Luna for my pack, I want the destined Luna.' 'Fine. I will go with you but you need to agree to certain things first,' April said. 'Ok. Let's have the things I have to agree to,' I said sighing audibly. Not out of relief but out of the fear of her possibly endless list of conditions. 'Number one. You can and must not touch me in any inappropriate way except it is highly necessary. You can't bring your sluts into our home and you are not permitted in any way to sleep outside our home for any reason except you are away from the pack and can't return,' April said with a stubborn look on her face. 'Will that be all?' I asked as a smile played at the corner of my mouth. 'Yes,' she said shrugging. 'Princess, do you realize that you have just given me the go-ahead to cheat on you?' I asked. 'Either I give you the permission or not, you will cheat on me. So why not allow you to do what you want to do,' April said and for some unknown reason, it hurts. 'You think so little of me, princess,' I said but made sure my voice didn't reflect my pain as I kept my smile in place. 'Do we have a deal?' She asked. 'Yes. But before we close that topic, would I not have a right to make love to my Luna? We need to produce the future Alpha or Luna as the case may be,' I asked. 'I don't know. We can do something about that when it is highly necessary. But for now, just keep your hands to yourself,' April said then asked her previous question, 'Do we have a deal, Alpha Adrian?' 'We have a deal Luna April,' I said taking her outstretched hand in a handshake. I realized the way she quickly removed her hand and smiled. Wolfless or not you are going to fall in love with me, April. I vowed.
