Chapter Ten - Strange

2254 Words
“I’m serious, before I was transported here I saw a fairy!” Zarina exclaimed while pacing back and forth. Luther, on the other hand, was getting dizzy at what she was doing. It reminded him of his mentor who keeps on doing that while thinking. “So let me get this straight, you saw a fairy and it spoke to you?” Luther asked for the nth time, so Zarina nodded at him. “Yes! How many times do I have to repeat it for you to get what I’m saying?!” Zarina was mad, she’s highly pissed talking to this wizard. Luther just laughed at her statements, it’s just way too impossible for that to happen and that can never happen! “Maybe I should use my magic to reverse your mind too, did you leave it there?” Luther tried to fool around, but Zarina was glaring at him. He knew that she wasn't kidding, “For real? Why would a fairy speak to you? Humans could only hear bells if they heard a fairy talk,” Luther casually informed her before snapping his fingers, he summoned a book about fairies. Zarina curiously peered at that book and noticed strange writings that she could understand even if Luther wouldn’t explain things. “My mentor even said that you can’t understand them since you’re um, ordinary beings? Not sure if that’s the right word that I should use, but you get what I mean?” Luther calmly claimed. Zarina wondered for a moment, so why did she see and understand that fairy? She shook her head before sighing. She remembered a series she watched about fairies before when she was just a child, was it Tinkerbell? Are fairies like that in Wizardia? She thought while biting her lower lip. “She was surprised after seeing me, then told me I wasn’t human,” Zarina shared because thought it was strange. Luther furrowed his eyebrows at Zarina, “Maybe I also reversed your appearance back there, but that’s highly unlikely,” Zarina just sighed before scratching the back of her head, “This is all your fault! Why are you using magic at my apartment?” She furiously glared at Luther, who immediately flinched on the other side. “Oi, calm down, I just want to observe your apartment and didn’t realize I was releasing too much magic,” Luther honestly admitted while gazing at Zarina. If looks could kill, he would be dead days ago, “I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to put you in danger too,” he added. “You should be careful, what if somebody noticed it while I was gone? What would they do to you?” Zarina clenched her fists, just the thought of it is making her worry. “Don’t underestimate what humans can do, if you’re mythical beings then humans are mysterious, dangerous beings, you won’t know what’s running in their mind all the time,”  Zarina turned her back at Luther before walking away, “I’ll be busy with work at home, just stay quiet there,”  She didn’t say anything and left Luther alone to reflect on his mistakes, but Luther couldn’t just brush off what she just said. If there was a fairy in that forest, then where exactly was she? There are no fairies aside from Wizardia. Luther massaged his temples and just cleaned his stuff inside of his home, maybe he should visit the land of the fairies soon to ask if they saw some strange things there like a human. *** “What are you cooking?” Luther curiously asked from the bathroom, making Zarina flinch before glaring at her back. “How did you know that I was cooking?” Zarina couldn’t control her temper as she used her furious tone from asking that. It’s been many hours since she last spoke with Luther. She was so preoccupied with work that she didn’t notice that it’s almost sunset and she had to eat dinner. Thankfully, that wizard didn’t bother her for those hours, she thought maybe he’s cleaning his house again. “I used the water element to capture your whole apartment a while ago, so I can see what you’re doing if I wanted to,” Luther informed, so her eyes widened. “Does that include my bedroom?” Zarina turned off her stove before placing her hands on her waist. “I said your whole apartment, so that means even your bedroom!” Luther proudly announced, so Zarina paced towards the bathroom and harshly slammed the door wide open. Luther almost jumped because of what Zarina just did, he’s being complimented in Wizardia because of how calm he is on handling dangerous situations, but if this woman’s involved, he doesn’t get it why he’s always startled. “Sheesh! Would you take good care of your things?” Luther finally regained his composure before meeting Zarina’s emerald eyes. “Oh, I know! Do you want me to cut your hair? You still have those split ends that needed to be cut off to make your strands grow healthy,” Luther happily suggested, so Zarina just grunted. “Why did you use magic to capture my apartment? Does that mean you have cameras around my place?” Zarina glared at him, so he furrowed his eyebrows. “Camera? What in the wizards is that?” Luther confusedly asked, so Zarina wondered for a moment before shaking her head as she took out her phone. “This is what you call a phone or a technology device, you could use this to capture something like what you just did to my apartment,” Zarina explained before using the camera to take a picture of Luther inside of the mirror. She swiped through the gallery of her phone to look for his photo and let him see his appearance, “This is where you are right now inside of my apartment,”  Luther’s eyes widened, he couldn’t believe what he was seeing, “Wow...I didn’t know I looked so handsome in here heh!”  Zarina just rolled her eyes at what he just said, “But wait! Are you truly sure that your world doesn’t have magic? Just look at what your phone thingy can do!” Luther exclaimed, so she just sighed. “We don’t have, this is what you call technology and the brains of humans,” Zarina hissed before keeping it in her pockets, “We use that to call and text to talk to someone,”  “Woah! So you mean, you don’t need telepathy magic to talk to someone?!” Luther exclaimed, so Zarina just sighed. She doesn't get why the greatest wizard of all times is a simpleton like this guy, “Yes and that means, you could see me get changed, take a bath, or sleep!” Zarina complained, so Luther already understood why she’s furious again. “Oh, don’t worry about that, I still have a sense of decency you know? I would never do that to you,” Luther gazed at Zarina intently. She wanted to complain, but those sky blue glinting eyes were enough to put her at ease. Zarina was sure that Luther wouldn’t do anything that would disrespect her as a woman. “Fine, if I ever found you out that you were using your magic against me again, I-I’ll...use this phone against you!” Zarina threatened while raising her phone, so Luther looked bothered for a moment. He doesn’t have any idea how that phone thingy works and he has to be aware of it, “I will, I will!” Luther raised his hands in defeat, so Zarina just playfully smirked and was about to walk away when she remembered something. “By the way, I’m cooking chicken curry, do you want some?” Zarina raised her eyebrows and stopped for a moment, “Right, you can’t have it from here,” “I can use my magic to teleport mine here!” Luther beamed happily while summoning his wand, “So where is it?”  Zarina secretly smiled, aside from her parents, no one has ever tasted her cooking yet, “It’ll be finished in a bit,” she informed before leaving the bathroom. It didn’t take her a while until she moved a small table near her bathroom and a chair to sit right in front of Luther. “I think I should change where that mirror is located,” Zarina mumbled coldly, so Luther just laughed because it is truly awkward to eat right in front of a bathroom. “I don’t think you could do that,” Luther mysteriously smiled at her before summoning an element of water, “See that?” Zarina was bewildered by what she was seeing, she couldn’t believe that water could float and reveal images like how Luther uses it. She’s seen too many strange things yet she still couldn’t get used to it, who would get used to it? Zarina thought. Luther is now revealing to her mirror that has cracked on the edges, “Those cracks symbolizes that you couldn’t move it and I’m not sure what will happen if you touched it,”  Zarina then gazed at the cracks that spread not just in her mirror but also on the walls around it, when she tried to touch it at first, the light grew brighter and caused another crack. “Is that one of the reasons why you captured my whole apartment?” Zarina curiously asked while pouring herself some water. Luther just nodded before winking, “Yes, I'm trying to figure out why this happened, I mean, we can’t just talk with each other here forever right?”  Zarina wondered at what he said for a moment, he’s right, they won’t just talk with each other inside of a mirror forever, “So where’s my part?” Luther excitedly asked. There will be a time that he might disappear and she will be left alone again inside her apartment, everything will be peaceful. Zarina shook her head as she felt that it’s going to be lonely by then. She couldn't figure out why she was feeling that way, “Here it is,” she pointed at the bowl near her plate. “Alright! Let me just do this, Transfer,” After Luther chanted those words, Zarina closed her eyes when a light blinked. She slowly opened her eyes and witnessed that the bowl was gone on her small table and was exchanged with some strange drink on a fancy glass. “What’s this?” Zarina furrowed her eyebrows while lifting that huge glass near her face, the drink was layered with different colors and it looked appetizing. “A drink in a glass, what else? I made that since I can’t just transfer something there without an exchange, it might upset the balance,” Luther mumbled mysteriously. “What balance are you talking about?” Zarina curiously asked, so Luther just flinched before shaking his head at her. “Never mind that, plus to thank you for this dinner! I thought it would be rude of me to just accept this meal without an exchange, it’s the first time I’ll be tasting a human dish after all,” Luther just winked before raising Clara’s bowl near his chest. “It smells good! Let’s eat our dinner!” He suggested, so Zarina just nodded before she decided to take a sip on that drink. Her eyes widened after she tasted such a fine drink, it was much better from the four-season shake her parents made her before. “Well human, is it good?” Luther anxiously inquired, so Zarina just nodded at him before smirking. “It’s not bad, you made a refreshing drink,” Zarina complimented him, so Luther just beamed before taking mouthful bites of Zarina’s dish. He was stunned as he took another bite again and moaned in delight. “Holy mother of wizards, how did you create this dish?!” Luther looks in awe as Zarina gazed at him from the mirror. “I can’t believe a dish like this existed! Oh, my wizards!” Luther continued exclaiming while munching on the bowl. Luther’s still now continuously scooping at the bowl, “Hey, slow down, do you want to die because of choking?” Zarina firmly scolded, so he stopped before gazing at her. “Can I have seconds? It tastes so amazing!” Luther complimented, so Zarina just smiled as she felt warm and fuzzy on the inside. No one has ever tasted her dish before aside from her mom and dad so she was slightly anxious. “You can, I made plenty for one person,” Zarina abruptly replied as they both enjoyed their dinner together. For years, she ate alone in her apartment with no one to talk to or eat with, now that this strange being appeared, things are starting to change drastically. “In exchange, can I also have a drink?” Zarina raised the glass that’s already empty, “It’s the first time I appreciated a drink, you should be honored,”  It was the truth, Zarina’s not used to drinking such a drink if it’s not made by her mother or father. Luther just laughed at her statements, “Of course human, that would be a great deal,” Luther beamed as they happily enjoyed their dinner together. To be continued…
