Chapter Twenty Three - It Worked

“Alright, now you just have to place it on that table,” Luther pointed at the table right in front of the bathroom as Zarina did what he said.

She gently placed that jar with a mantis on the inside, she used rubber and a plastic cover to wrap the top so that she could poke small circles to help the mantis breathe a while ago.

Zarina then gazed at him before crossing her arms against her chest, “There, where’s your bug?” She raised her eyebrows, so Luther smirked before raising the jar beside him.

“I also divided them into groups of jars just in case the first experiment will fail,” Luther suggested as Zarina glared at him.

“What? You also have to prepare when that happens you know?” Luther pouted before placing the jar right in front of him.

“Alright, so this is it,” Luther sighed before summoning his wand. Zarina still finds it thrilling to watch him summon his wand or do magic.

“I, Luther Albus Sanford, hereby present to you these two living things that want to cross the path against the distance of our world, give me your blessing as I order these living things to exchange!” After Luther chanted those words, a whirring sound reverberated through his place and Zarina’s apartment as a bright light appeared.

She backed away for a moment before covering her ears that’s in pain because of the static that she was hearing.

It wasn’t long until the whirring sound vanished along with the light, Zarina then opened her eyes wide before gazing at the jar beside her.

“I-It worked, it worked!” Luther cheered on the other side as he used his magic to create a lot of confetti.

Zarina, on the other hand, couldn’t believe that it actually worked, “W-Wow, so there’s a possibility that we could go to your world?” 

She wondered before raising the jar that contains a Weevil bug, “Wow, I just don’t know what to say,”

Luther kept on cheering happily on the other side because his experiment was a success, he immediately wrote it down on his reports and books before gazing at the bug Zarina has from their world.

“Now to check if I could touch it,” Luther bit his lower lip as Zarina confusingly looked at him from the other side.

“Why do you have to touch it?” She coldly asked, but Luther just playfully smirked at him as he slowly opened the jar on the top.

“Well, we still have to check if it’s safe for these beings to be here, maybe they couldn’t breathe in our air and that would be a problem, we still have to observe him,” Luther told her and she thought it made sense.

“Sometimes, it surprises me that you could actually think that smart, from your demeanor, it isn’t obvious,” Zarina honestly stated, so Luther laughed out loud.

“I don’t know if you’re being mean or nice, but I’ll take that as a compliment,” He playfully winked at Zarina as she shook her head at him.

“Now wait, before touch, let's see if it can breathe for 30 minutes without this cover on?” Luther levitated himself as Zarina watched the progress with him.

A lot of tests were performed and it turns out, both bugs could breathe in the air in both worlds. Luther also gave food from their world as Zarina did the same to the bug that she has in her apartment.

They’re both performing well and it looks promising because it seems like there aren’t any problems at all.

It took them until midnight until they’re on to the final experiment, “Okay, so I have to touch it this time and see what happens,” Luther mumbled while putting his hands inside of the jar.

Zarina got worried because Luther looks like he’s tired and has to get some rest, probably because he used too much magic today, “Maybe we should just continue tomorrow?” She suggested, but Luther shook his head.

“N-No, we have to finish this tonight so that I could try and teleport you here tomorrow,” Luther looks dedicated, so she just sighed.

“Fine but after this, we have to stop because I need to sleep too,” Zarina firmly said as Luther agreed with her.

Zarina watched Luther reach out to that mantis and what happened next surprised them as the mantis came back to Zarina's jar as the Weevil came back to Luther’s jar after he touched that bug.

“W-What just happened?” Zarina confusingly asked, so Luther wondered about what happened for a moment.

“We could teleport living beings in both our worlds, but we couldn’t touch it or it’ll go back to where it belongs,” Luther claimed before sighing, “So that’s the downside huh? Why does it have to be touching?” He pouted, so she glared at him.

“What do you mean about that?” She raised her eyebrows, so Luther flinched before whistling like a bystander passing by.

“N-Nothing, what I meant to say was, we could visit each other's worlds, but we couldn’t touch each other or we’ll go back immediately to where we belong,” Luther thoroughly explained, so she just nodded at him.

“I see, well that’s fine, we just have to see what’s in both of our worlds just avoiding to interact with others,” Zarina suggested, so Luther just pouted before frowning.

Zarina thought it such a shame, she could see him or even hear him, maybe she’ll stand beside him sooner, but she couldn’t feel his warmth.

She couldn’t understand why she’s curious about it, but she knows that she wanted to be able to feel his warmth someday.

Zarina brushed aside her delirious thoughts, she couldn’t believe she’s talking about warmth and worse, about the pervert wizard!

“Right, right, so who’ll go visit who first?” Luther playfully smirked, so Zarina just shrugged at him.

“I don’t know, maybe I should do it first? Since I’m only available for tomorrow and you could come here anytime whenever I went home at noon,” Zarina massaged her chin while gazing at her ceiling, so he agreed with her.

“Right! That would be a great idea! I couldn’t wait to let you see our world!” Luther cheered happily, “I hope your world is also ready for a handsome, powerful wizard-like me to visit,” 

Zarina rolled her eyes at what he just said, “Yeah right, in your dreams,” She shook her head before sealing the jar again to avoid the mantis flying around her apartment while she slept.

“Well, good night, it’s been a while since I stayed up like this,” Zarina yawned before rubbing her eyes.

“You should get some rest for you to have enough strength and magic to bring me to your world,” She softly commented before pacing towards her bedroom.

Zarina jumped in her bed and the softness made it easy for her to fall into her deep slumber, Luther used his magic to allow him to see what she was doing and smiled when he saw her sleeping soundly on her bed.

“I can’t wait to introduce you to the world I’m living in, now let’s see if I could make some more tests,” Luther stayed up all night to check if there are ways for him to touch Zarina even in her hands without disappearing.

Zarina groaned after hearing her alarm ticked off, she forgot to turn it off last night as she grunted on her bed.

She rolled herself over and covered herself with a blanket before groaning because she couldn’t sleep anymore.

“Ugh stupid alarm clock,” She complained before scratching the back of her head, “Luther? Are you awake?” 

No one answered her as she decided to fix her mattress before pacing towards the bathroom to brush her teeth, “Luther are you--”

She stopped after seeing Luther sleeping while floating in the air. It looks like he was tired because of the continuous tests he did last night.

“I guess I’ll eat breakfast alone,” Zarina mumbled before brushing her teeth and taking a bath. She won’t know when Luther will wake up, but she’ll be ready when he does.

After she ate breakfast and washed her plates, she flinched when she heard Luther scream in the bathroom.

She ran over there to check what was wrong, “H-How much time did I lose?!” Luther exclaimed while pacing back and forth.

Zarina just shook her head at his reactions, “Just an hour after breakfast, you should rest more Luther,” She scolded.

“Well, I didn’t lose that much time, I made a schedule and places that we’re going to visit today if I successfully transported you here,” He beamed before letting her see a map.

“Also I marked places that we're visiting so that no one would dare to touch you or anything,” Luther informed before gazing at Zarina.

Zarina thought that he stayed up late just so he could prepare where he’ll bring her today? She secretly smiled before coughing.

“A-Ahem, so um, you should eat breakfast first, fix yourself, and make sure you're in tip-top shape before you use magic again,” Zarina coldly suggested.

Luther stopped at what she said and playfully smirked at her, “Aww, is the ice queen that worried about me?” He beamed on the other side, so Zarina almost glared at him.

“Stop mumbling words that would force me not to be teleported there, is that clear?” She threatened, so Luther raised his hands in defeat.

“Yes ma’am!” Luther firmly answered as he did all of the things he had to do to prepare himself for teleporting Zarina later on.

After an hour, Luther was ready and Zarina dressed into a comfortable outfit before pacing towards the bathroom.

“Luther, I have a question, are you being drained sometimes and can’t use magic often?” Zarina curiously asked, which stopped Luther from fixing his things inside of his house.

“Well yes, if we used too much mana and magic, it happens, but not often, we’re trained to have a huge mana and you know, even if we don’t walk too much we workout!” Luther proudly shared, so she squinted her eyes at him.

“You workout? You can’t even lift a spoon using your hands, or stand up alone with your feet,” Zarina claimed, so Luther just pouted at her.

“Hey! I don’t do that often! Plus I work out if you’re at work! Hmph!” Luther avoided her gaze as Zarina stood right in front of the bathroom.

“Well, are you ready to try it on me?” Zarina curiously asked so he stopped before gazing at her appearance.

“I should be the one asking that to you if you’re ready,” Luther mumbled before summoning his wand.

“I know we needed a lot more time to experiment about this, but I’m pretty sure that I’ll be able to pull this off,” He added, so Zarina just nodded at him.

“I trust you, you wouldn’t stay up all night to find out if it’s really safe for me, right?” Zarina playfully smirked as Luther flinched.

No one has told him that before, and he finds it truly touching for his well-being, “H-How did you know about that?!” Luther exclaimed, so Zarina just shook her head before pouting her lips at his wand.

“Just get on with it before I change my mind,” She demanded, so he just sighed before nodding as he raised his wand.

“Alright, so you just have to stand up straight there,” Luther pointed at the space in between the door of her bathroom.

“Okay, I’m doing it,” Zarina informed him as Luther disappeared and carried something on his front, “Wait, is that a small tree?” 

She curiously asked while gazing at what Luther was holding; it was a clay pot of a huge plant and tree.

“Yeah! I’ll be using this in exchange for you, I found out last night that you can’t be exchanged unless you both bear the same mass, and this tree is the same mass as you,” Luther casually informed, so Zarina thought it made sense.

“Right, right, thank you for that, so it means you know my weight?” Zarina curiously asked as Luther nodded.

“Yes! You’re 55 and the only thing that makes you heavy is your height and your melons!” Luther proudly announced, so Zarina glared at him.

“Y-You pervert!” Zarina argued with him for a moment as they finally decided to try the experiment they conducted last night.

“Alright, enough fooling around and let’s begin,” Luther exhaled out a lungful air before pointing the wand at Zarina.
