I was sitting in the bathroom, waiting for Kaid to leave the room. I was extremely mad at him, furious, in fact. He claimed me like I was a damn property. What is his problem? Couldn't he treat me like a human being? I was his mate, for the Goddess's sake. Unless... Am I only a breeder for him? Did he only sweet talk to me to give in to him? Of course, he did. Who would want a wolf-less mate? He is the King and needs a strong Luna, but I'm not one. Not even an Alpha wanted me.
"You are strong, Ivy. We are strong," Athena said.
She always says that we are strong, but I don't believe her. I have doubted her existence because if she was real, then why can't we turn? I have a wolf trapped inside of me, but until I don't become one, it is the same as being human.
"Athena, he needs a wolf by his side. We haven't turned. I don't even know what you look like. I don't want to tell anyone I have a wolf because I don't know if I will get to know you myself." I answered her.
The sooner she gives up on the idea of becoming the King's mate, the less she will suffer. Athena huffed and retreated to the back of my mind. I knew I made her mad, but it was for her own good.
I decided to take a shower to calm myself and to help with the pain around my neck. I haven't looked at the damage done by Alexander. For sure, there has to be a mark. I just didn't want to see the extent of the damage. It was not the first time that I had been hit, but every time I saw the bruises, I was reminded that I didn't have a wolf and my healing depended only on my human self. Even if I healed a little bit faster, that didn't mean I healed like a wolf would.
As I showered, I let the water take my problems out of my mind. For those few minutes, I was only Ivy. Not a slave, not a breeder, not even a mate. As soon as I closed the water and started drying myself, I decided to see the marks left by Alexander. I was surprised when I realized I didn't have a single mark. In fact, all my scars were gone for a few minutes, and then they started to appear again.
What?
"I told you we are strong, Ivy. You are going to learn a lot. Water is our element," Athena said.
What does she mean by my element? I was going to ask her when I heard some commotion outside my room. My hearing was changing, and everything in me was changing. Does that mean that I could really become a full wolf and be Kaid's mate?
Curiosity got the best of me, and I decided to hear what was said. No one would think that I could listen to them, so they didn't take any precautions when I was near. Most of the people in the pack spoke very close to me. They knew that my hearing abilities weren't the best, which would come in handy now.
"Your Majesty, Ivy is still part of our pack; she has to abide by our laws. We haven't signed the contract yet," Alexander said.
Wait, what contract? They sold me? I knew they traded me for power, but a contract is... it states that I'm an object.
"Alpha Alexander, the contract is just a formality; she is mine. She is my breeder, and any heirs she produces are only mine. No relationship to this pack is going to come from this acquisition." Kaid answered.
The King... he bought me. I knew he wanted a breeder, and he explained his reasons, but he never told me he bought me. He was willing to pay, and if I had not been his mate, I would have been screwed. I didn't want to hear anything else. Starting tomorrow, I must find a way to escape this pack and the King. I'm not for sale.
"Ivy, it could all be a misunderstanding. You should ask Kaid what is going on." My wolf interjected.
Athena tried to make it seem like Kaid was Prince Charming, the one who would save me from this pack. I knew that she hoped everything that was happening wasn't real, but it was. Kaid only wanted me as a breeder.
"Athena, you heard them; they are both the same. In fact, Kaid is worse. He presented himself as someone kind when he wanted to buy me. I can't be with someone like that." I said while my heart broke.
I trusted him. I wanted to believe I could be happy, but so far, Kaid says one thing to my face and another to the rest.
"If that is true, then why did Alexander and Bianca want you to pretend to accept this deal of your own free will? If Kaid wanted a breeder, it was because he didn't want someone to be after the throne. He wanted his son to be the only heir." Athena stated. What she said was true, but that doesn't justify his statement. He had stated twice now that I was his property. He didn't even refer to being part of his pack; I was HIS PROPERTY. That is treating me like an object, not only once but twice now, which isn't justifiable by any means. Furthermore, if he wanted to explain something to me, he should make everything else wait for a damn second and sit with me to talk. But no, he lets everyone come in as they please, leaving me with zero information.
I was pacing around the room, thinking of what I had heard and what to do, when Kaid and Alexander entered my room. Kaid looked really pissed off; his aura was menacing, making the air heavier. It looked like he wanted to kill Alexander, while he was oblivious to the fact that the King wanted his head on a stick.
"Ivy, it has been brought to my attention that you broke a pack rule by attacking the future Luna," Kaid said.
Alexander smirked at that moment as he looked at me. He knew that was true; I had attacked Bianca several times, and he knew the reason and that I had no way to prove myself apart from my word, which is nothing against an Alpha's word. f*****g Bianca, she always found a way to screw me up. Well, if he thinks I'm going to be his little puppet, he is wrong as hell.
"I did. I have no justification. In fact, I was in the dungeon, but I was released when I made a deal with the future Luna." I said with my head high.
As I responded, I could see Alexander's smirk vanish. That's right, asshole, you are going down with me. Even if that wasn't entirely true, it was believable. As I looked at Kaid, I could see the confusion in his eyes. He didn't have to ask me to continue, but I wanted to bury Alexander completely.
"I had to become Your Majesty's breeder, and no harm would come to my friend and me. In return, they would give me my freedom." I continued.
"So... you were coerced into this," Kaid stated, and I could see his jaw tightened as his anger increased. He looked at Alexander; at that point, smoke came out of his ears. He was fuming.
"You told me she was doing this for her own free will. I'm going to ask you one last time. Did Ivy accept this deal because she wanted to, or did you do something to make her accept it?" Kaid asked with a low and dangerous voice.
Alexander looked at me as he thought of what to answer. If he thought I would remain quiet, he was utterly wrong.
"Your Majesty," Alexander said but was immediately interrupted by a growl.
"Tell me the truth! If you lie to me again, I'm going to rip you off your title; you are going to become a f*****g Omega. Is that clear?" Kaid said, almost yelling at Alexander's face. When Alexander refused to speak, it was the same as admitting that he coerced me into accepting this deal.
"That is all I needed to hear. Alpha Alexander, Ivy, from now on, does not belong to your pack. Now, she is under my protection as you treat your pack members as pawns. During my reign, forcing someone into accepting any kind of deal is unacceptable. Especially if that deal brings you something in return that is not beneficial for that person," Kaid stated.
His face was stoic and solemn, like a true king. I couldn't help but admire him. He was extraordinarily handsome and mature. We still need to discuss the whole part of him buying me, but I would have to wait until we leave the pack.
Maybe my future has something great ahead of me. Perhaps it is my turn to find some happiness.
