Chapter seven: Kaid’s POV

1616 Words
I was sitting in the infirmary as I waited for news about the condition of my mate. The previous events are still fresh in my memory. As I was speaking with Elder Tobias, I had an eerie feeling. My wolf was restless, meaning that something was wrong with Ivy. I didn't want to be rude to the Elder; he told me some important issues had happened, but I wanted to get back to my mate to see what was wrong. The Elder seemed to notice my discomfort and anxiousness, so we decided to postpone the meeting, even though we didn't finish our conversation. I was reaching the office when Bianca approached me. Every time I saw her, it made my skin crawl. She doesn't give me a good vibe. In fact, she puts my wolf and me on edge. She looks kind of like Ivy, but compared to my mate, she is nothing extraordinary. She started talking about the importance of me staying here for the banquet they had prepared; her main argument was that people missed their King and wanted to have some time to chat with me. I tried to be nice initially, but I was beginning to get exasperated with her nonsense when I felt a sting in my neck. I knew it came from Ivy. She was hurt, so I did the only thing that I could. I left Bianca at her spot and continued my journey to the office. I didn't care if I was rude; my mate needed me. As soon as I entered the office, I had to control myself not to kill Alpha Alexander. He had Ivy by the neck and was pressing her against the wall. I saw f*****g red. How dare he mistreat her like that. Even though they don’t know she is my mate, that doesn’t give them the right to treat a pack member that way. The growl that I emitted in combination with my aura was so strong that it made Alexander fall to his knees. That made him lose his grip on Ivy, and she started falling. I moved as fast as I could to avoid her hitting the ground, and then I asked where the pack’s doctor was. And here I am. Next to my mate, waiting for her to wake up, I calmed myself to not go into the house and kill Alexander. I wondered what she meant when she told me she didn’t have a wolf. I didn’t tell her at that moment because I didn't want to stress her out more, but I could feel her wolf inside of her. Maybe she is dormant, but we could find a way to wake her up, only if Ivy wants it tough. I won’t force her to wake her wolf if she doesn’t want to. I couldn’t care less if she didn’t have a wolf. It wouldn’t have mattered if she were human. She is my mate, and I will do everything in my power to protect her. As I was thinking about approaching the situation with her, I felt Ivy stirring in her sleep. I approached her to calm her with the mate bond when her eyes snapped open, and I could see the terror in them. She was looking around the room to see where she was. Her eyes continued roaming her surroundings until they landed on me, and she closed them again. It seemed like she was having some inner conversation, and I didn't want to interrupt. If she hadn't told me she didn't have a wolf, I would have thought she was talking to her. | As I admired her beauty, a sudden knock on the door interrupted us. I could hear how Ivy's heart rate started to increase. I could tell who the person behind the door was; my senses were keener than most wolves, so I knew it was Alpha Alexander, the last person I wanted to see. I controlled my breath and heart rate so as not to alert Ivy and let her continue her inner turmoil. I wanted to discuss something with her, but it would have to wait until she was ready. I walked to the door and opened it before he could knock again. I would ask him to leave, and if he disagreed, I would force him. Nothing could disturb Ivy, not until she was healed. I reached the door, and as soon as I opened it, I could see his confusion. Maybe he expected Ivy to be alone or with Bianca. I posted some guards outside this door, but that didn't necessarily mean I would be here. "Alpha Alexander, Ivy is resting," I said to him, watching his mouth open and close a few times before focusing his eyes on me. He was trying to get a glimpse of her, but I would not let him. "Your majesty, I just wanted to apologize to her. It was wrong of me to lose my temper. Nevertheless, she broke one rule from our pack," he stated. I knew he was lying; I could hear his heart rate increase as soon as he said that lie. I raised my brow and looked at him. I hate when people lie to me. They thought they were so smart, but I could tell their lies almost instantly. "And what law did she break?" I asked. Let's see what he comes up with. "She..." Exactly, he didn't know what to say. He paused and started opening and closing his mouth like a damn fish. I was losing my patience when he spoke again, and I felt the last of my self-control slip. "She was intimate with someone's mate, which is strictly prohibited here, especially if that male has already found his mate." As soon as those words left his lips, I approached him and slammed his body against the wall. Fear is evident in his eyes. "Let me kill him", my wolf said. I was considering it; he deserved it. If I had to be honest, I wanted to crush his damn skull against the wall. Then, I heard the door open behind me, and I saw Ivy at the doorstep. As soon as I looked at her beautiful figure, I could feel how my anger immediately vanished. Her eyes shone brightly as she looked at me, but as soon as she saw Alexander, I could see how anger bubbled up inside her. "Alpha Alexander, enlighten me. When was the law that you are referring to established?" She said without an ounce of fear. I was proud of my mate. If she was wolfless, or she thought she was, then it meant that she should be afraid of an Alpha, but Ivy wasn't; she stood her ground and made him uncomfortable. Ivy was looking straight at him; her defiance was evident in her previous statement. Alexander looked at her and, once again, stood in complete silence. He was thinking of a damn lie, that is for sure. "Exactly, it doesn't exist, but I have never been with anyone, even if it did. That makes your accusation invalid, " she stated. I was mesmerized by her beauty and strength. She had some fears deep inside, but I would make them disappear with time. Alexander, on the other hand, was staring daggers at her. He was making Atlas want to rip his head off, and I was done controlling my wolf for this bastard. Before things got out of control, I decided to end Alexander's visit. It was that I ended his miserable life. "Alpha Alexander, Ivy is no longer part of your pack; she is mine now. She needs to rest because of your previous assault. If you continue harassing her, I'm pressing charges as you attacked someone who belongs to me. She won't be answering your questions until she is fully healed. I'm taking her inside the room so she can fulfill the doctors' orders." I growled. He wanted to say something else, but I was done with this visit. I took Ivy's hand in mine and enjoyed the sparks that erupted from our skin. I led her to the room and proceeded to close the door. She entered and took her hand away from mine as soon as I closed the door. I was confused, but when I looked at her and saw her furious eyes, I knew I had f****d up. "She is going to eat you alive." Atlas chuckled; he was mocking me. I knew that; that was why I wanted to speak to her. Damn Alexander, he interrupted us and caused this misunderstanding. "Tell me, Your Majesty, are you going to brand me now?" Ivy's voice was laced with resentment. Well, that demonstrates that I definitely f****d up. I was going to explain myself when we were interrupted once again. This time, the person at the door was Andrew, and I knew he wouldn't just come here for nothing. "Your Majesty, I apologize for the interruption, but something needs your attention." He worried about something, meaning I had to excuse myself again. I was going to tell Ivy to wait for me, but when I turned around, she was gone. I was about to lose my mind when I heard the water running in the bathroom. I sighed, defeated. I will explain to her when I return. With that, I left the room with Andrew. I just hoped Ivy would forgive me after I explained everything to her and that she would want to be part of my plan. I wished we were in my pack because I had control of everything around me. Here, I'm just a visitor.
