CHAPTER 19

Cassian

The venom they injected in my body was making all my veins and ligaments stiff. I couldn't move my fingers even, yet talk alone about resisting their forced actions upon me. Pain was rushing in each nerve but worse was, they were dragging my body like a rag.

I heard someone open a metallic door, though I have no idea where I have been taken too. I tried my senses to keep everything alert. Can't do anything, can't run, can't escape. Just like a helpless dog, I was taken somewhere.

My lips were numb and no words came out from it. Itchy and dried throat, my voice came out hoarse. 

"Put him inside…." A voice heard to my ear.

Someone was giving command to the men holding me. 

"Yes.. boss.." they said and pushed me, stuffed in a car. Well that's how I felt when I was in a car.

"Aye! Tie his hands… beware, he knows how to fight so do it before the effect of the serum fades…" one of them instructed the men who were my captives.

Where are they taking me? What are their motives? Who is behind this? What is happening with me?

They ignited the engine and started to drive. For a while, the roads were smooth but suddenly, they took an odd route as I felt some harsh jerk in the back seat. It must be a deserted or stray road in the area. 

My anxiety was screaming inside my brain. One chance is all I need and then, I will make their little dirty game finish.. let me find out who did this to me.. so far, I have one name in my mind but still I doubt. 

Alarous scared him yesterday and I don't think he is gutsy enough to show his face this soon. This bad road won't be ending soon. The whole time, I was bouncing on the hard concrete seats.

A sharp turn they took and I was thrown on the window. My cheek was pressed against it and yet I couldn't do it and suffered in silence.

"Stop it here.. the boss told us about this spot.." they were talking so I forgot the pain for a while and focused on their conversation.

"Are you sure? This place in the woods. What is in his mind?" The other one asked.

"Shut up! And do as he says. You know what he will do to you if you irritate him with your bombarding doubts.." the first one shouted at him.

"Fine.." 

"Drag him out…" the commanding voice of a man sent a chill to my brain.

They held me and dragged my body to the ground like I was a dead body. Suckers!! They have no idea what they are dealing with..

"Now what? He is not here and we will look like a clown with him.."

"Stop talking and focus on your job,if you don't want to die with him here."

They both were targeting each other with ice words. Then, I heard a car approaching here.

"He is here…" they stood erect.

Who is he?

Whoever he is, he stepped out from the car and commanded something to his man. They held my body upright and lifted the bag like thing from my head. I felt relieved as it was suffocating inside the bag.

As soon as I opened my eyes, I was shocked yet perplexed to see the horror in front of me. That cap guy, I remember him from that day. He was there with us to retrieve the chip from me. Is he behind my k********g? Why is he doing this?

"You…." My lips trembled due to the effect of the serum they injected in me.

"Yeah, me! Surprised? I must say, you are… shocked to the core… and not? You never expected for me to be here." He was grinning ear to ear.

"What do you want?" I grind my teeth in pressure.

I was glad internally that my fingers were moving. That effect of the serum is fading. Now, at least, I can put up a fight.

"Simple… revenge! You destroyed my career with the chip and now I will destroy you.." he stated while looking into my eyes.

"Just that? I was expecting bigger." I spat.

"Come on.. you couldn't handle my little k********g game and now you are talking about your bigger expectation. f**k it up, dude.. anyway, I have important bussiness to mend, so, this is our last goodbye… " he took out his gun and aimed at me..

I was looking at the pistol in his hands and stunned for a moment. Not sure what to do but when he pulled the trigger, somehow, i ducked and a man behind me got shot.

Sighed deeply, I dodged the next bullet and I ran into the woods. Yet my hands were tied, I got no chance to untie them.. deeper I ran into the woods to save, but I knew I was luring them. My legs were weak and the muscles were twitching, but that didn't stopped me. 

Reaching the centre of the forest, I met with boundaries of trees everywhere. I find myself lost and worst, they found me here.

"Did you thought you will escape.. no hun..  today, you will die." He pulled the trigger and shot me

The bullet hit me right in my chest, piercing it through the scalpel bone. I felt everything torn inside. The blood shot out and I fell on my knees and then on face on the ground, licking the dirt from it. My hands trembled under the pain, the fear of death. I never expected this to be my end. How? How did I fail? The darkness was getting heavier on my eyelids as I felt them getting close.

I heard them laugh on me, remarks given my them to me. Everything so hazy.. haunting. The glow was dying until it become to low, almost diminished. Fear crippled on the surface, there was a fire started with a spark. It was dark and scary but what was scarier? The fire that started, it was started to engulf this whole forest under it. It will swallow it whole. That is scary.

My heart was beating every second but I was numb, all I felt was this fire approaching me. In my eyes, the revenge has taken his place. Something sparked and I was dancing in fire, and then... my eyes opened. Red! Blazing red.

Stood on my feet, I saw them stepping away from me. 

"What the actual f**k?" He aimed at me, again. And shot all of his bullet.

"That's all you could do?" I asked him and the color of his face turned pale 

He turned his heels to run but I caught his men. No mercy, no guilt, only blood to be spilled...

My hands turned red like coal and they screamed on my touch. Noticed that my hands burned their skin. A mischievous grin curled up on my lips. I grab their face and burned them, and left them to die. Not so far, I found him. He was getting in his car but somehow, maybe because he was scared and hyperventilate. He couldn't start the car. 

"Run!! Damn it, run!!!" He smashed the windshield in frustration.

Suddenly, his eyes fell on me, standing at the front of his car. He tried working with the keys again and dropped them. He bend to pick it up and put the keys in ignition. More he was shocked to find me gone.

Before he could make another move, I broke the car's door and dragged him out. 

I was enjoying this. Playing with him for fun and kill him later. He ran and I followed him with my glowing body. I was looking like human torch.. my accidental touches ignited a fire in the woods. 

"Please! Spare me...!" He begged.

"Really? But you didn't show me any mercy, how could you expect it from me?" I frowned before pulling him towards me from the sleeves.

"It was a mistake.." he stuttered while hanging in air.

"Punishment is equal for everyone.." I stated before roasting him alive.

When I am done, I stood bold and roared like a dangerous lion. Suddenly, I sharp arrow hit me on my arm. I turned my head to look at the person who dared to attack me. I found her.. she was there but different. She was in a hunting suit, holding crossbow, aimed at me. She shot it and another one by passe me, piercing a little skin from my cheek.

"Cassian!!!" I head a voice.. faded but getting stronger.

"Cassian!!!" The voice was familiar but faded.

I I didn knew what happened next because I was consumed by the darkness.
