Clary's POV
The date went amazingly. I will admit that. Aaron took me out for dinner, then ice cream and to top it all off, he kissed me goodnight.
And, I liked it. Very much. But, he doesn't know that.
Now, I'm on my way home from school, walking to get to the car with my security guard beside me.
"One second, Clary." We both stopped so that he could answer his phone. "I'll be home soon, babe, I just have to get Clary home first." Pause. "What? Now?"
"What's going on?" I asked.
"Kayla's in labor."
"Go to the hospital, I can get to the car on my own."
"Are you sure?" He seemed skeptical.
"Yes! Go, now." He smiled and kissed my head.
"Be safe, kid." He ran off and I smiled, shaking my head.
I pulled out my phone and texted Walter. He texted back and said that there was traffic, so he was going to be another ten minutes or so. I texted back a quick 'Ok' and stood by the sidewalk.
"Clarissa." I gasped and he clasped his hand over my mouth, dragging me into an alley and threw me on the ground behind a dumpster.
"Sebastian, don't." I cried and attempted to yell for help, but he got down beside me and shoved something in my mouth before I could scream.
He duct taped my hands behind my back and stood up, repeatedly kicking me in the stomach and a few times in the head. "You should've kept your f*****g mouth shut, Clarissa." I whimpered and kicked him in the leg, making him fall over, but that just made him angrier. "Stupid move, Clarissa."
He punched me in the face and then let his hands wrap around my throat. I stared at the evil look in his eyes as his hands squeezed the air out of my lungs.
I gasped for air over and over again, but to no avail.
No air.
I managed to slide my leg up and knee him in the balls, hard.
He groaned and toppled over, holding onto his crotch. I took my chance and painfully stood up, running off.
"You b***h! This isn't over!" I ran and spit out the cloth in my mouth, then somehow broke the duct tape binding my hands.
I ran as fast as I could until I felt that I was a safe distance away, then started walking, holding onto my stomach and my head as it all throbbed.
After an hour or so of walking, I was finally back on our street.
I had my hoodie up and my head down as I trudged to the driveway, feeling dizzy.
"Clary! Jonathan and Val are out looking for you! Where have you been?" I stood in place and swayed on my feet.
"I don't- I can't-"
"Clary? Are you okay?" I shook my head and everything went black.
Valentine's POV
Jon and I drove around, going to all of her favorite places and asking if anyone had seen her, but no one had, so we started scoping out where Walter was supposed to pick her up.
My phone started ringing, so seeing that it was Maryse, I answered. "Has she come home?" I asked.
"Yes, but we're at the hospital. She came home and passed out in the driveway. She's pretty beaten up, Val."
"Fuck." We ran for the car. "Presbyterian?"
"Yeah. I'm in the waiting room of the ER, they wouldn't let me stay in the room with her."
"We're on our way, tell them that they have my consent for anything they need to do."
"I will." The line clicked off and we drove off to the hospital.
"She's in the hospital?" Jon asked from the passenger seat.
"Yeah. I think it was Sebastian."
"Damn it. Do you think he-"
"Let's hope to god he didn't." I parked the SUV and we ran inside the hospital, seeing Maryse pacing back and forth in the waiting room, so I rushed over to her.
"They just took her up to have surgery, something about a brain bleed. You need to sign the consent forms." I nodded and took the clipboard, signing my name where I had to, then a nurse came and took it from me.
"When did they say she'd be out?"
"Six to eight hours."
"Okay."
I sat down and Jonathan did the same.
"It's going to be okay, Val. I know it." I nodded and sighed.
Keeping myself calm was very difficult at the moment. But, I had to be strong for Jon. If I break down, he will too. And, I don't want that.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
She's been out of surgery for about three hours and still hasn't woken up, but the doctor says that that's normal with how much damage was done to her head.
The police are looking for Sebastian, but there's no sign of him.
"Daddy?" I sprung up from the couch and stood beside my daughter.
"I'm here, princess."
"My head hurts." She kept her eyes closed, but she gripped my hand as I held hers.
"Maryse, will you go find the doctor?" I asked and she stood, leaving the room. She had stayed with me all night to keep me company.
I made Jon go home around three and it's like nine o'clock now.
"Clary, how are you feeling?" Dr. Sanders walked in.
"Shitty."
"I'll up the morphine for you." He did just that. "Can you open your eyes for me? I need to take a look." She whimpered and pried them open, looking around the hospital room.
"Fuck."
"Follow the light for me." She stayed still as he shined the light in her eyes and she followed it with her eyes. "Seems good. I'd say that you can go home in about two weeks. Do you remember what happened to you?" I knew.
"Sebastian. Walter was a little late and I was waiting for him, but Sebastian pulled me into an alley and beat the s**t out of me."
"So, he didn't-" I couldn't finish the sentence.
"No. When he was choking me, I kneed him in the balls and ran away from him, then walked home and passed out." Her tears were clearly visible, but I didn't want her to flinch if I touched her.
"I'm so sorry, baby girl."
"You couldn't have known this would happen."
"But, I should've."
"You couldn't have. Don't blame yourself for something you had no control of."
"I know. I'm sorry."
"Can I go back to sleep now? I'm exhausted." I nodded and gently kissed her hand.
"Go right ahead. I love you, baby."
"I love you, too."
She closed her eyes and they stayed that way.
I moved to the couch and laid down, thanking god that I still have my beautiful baby girl......
