/Kira’s POV/
After I left to visit my new dad and my new brother, I realised how much of a terrible actor my brother was. From my memories, Harry also wasn’t very fond of her sister. In fact, he contributed to ruining the girl’s life. He’d give her terrible advice and get her in trouble because he hates that their father dotes on her a lot. I get that the girl is a spoilt b***h but to even be hated on by her brother… from my memories, Eleanor always thought everything her brother ever done was for her but from my processing, I just think the son of a b***h wanted his sister gone.
But the suspicious part was the fact that he was nervous with me, he’d advised his sister to do the whole ‘drug Allen thing’ after Eleanor confided in him about Allen’s repulsed expression anytime she got close.
“Eleanor” I blinked back to reality after realising I was in front of Eleanor’s father who happens to be one of the people I had gotten a mission to protect once. He was a target of assassination one time and he would have been killed if I wasn’t given the job at the time but it worries me, what type of connection did he have with the general?
“Are you okay? You look pale?” Emmett Walker, one of the most successful businessmen in the US asked me with a concerned look on his face. I realised something during the little kinship unlike Eleanor’s golden hair, they both have toffee hair colour but I share the same eye colour with my dad, a set of electric blue eyes, they looked really beautiful; I’m sure Eleanor would do well being a model, she’s got the perfect gene, long lean figure but this delicate body isn’t something I would want though.
Harry had a different eye colour, it looks the same as Eleanor’s birth mother, one which she’d only seen in old magazines. Almond jade green eyes, it’s pretty too.
“I’m fine dad…just-
“Getting cold feet sister, you know you can always back out if you want, like I always told you it doesn’t have to be Allen.” He sounded genuine so I’d take his word for it.
“I doubt her choice would change and if they do change, there’s nothing you can do about this now, you know how much trouble you put me through over that boy, don’t you?” I gulped feeling intimidated for some reason. Eleanor doesn’t fear her dad though but knowing how much power the man standing in front of me, terrifies me a little.
“How could you say that dad, she might wanna give up now,” Harry said, he’s starting to sound like he wanted me to call the marriage off with Allen but why?
“It’s okay, I’m just nervous” I let out softly and my dad held my shoulder wearing a warm smile on his face as he spoke.
“It’s your wedding day and of course, all brides get nervous on their wedding day…I can’t believe you’re all grown up already. Just know that, I’m so proud of you” He planted an affectionate kiss on my forehead and took me by the hand leading me down the stairs, I don’t know how to feel right now, Emmett Walker isn’t giving me a chance to cut it off and I have a feeling a lot is at stake if I dare to cut it off...
I get to know just how much was at the altar after Emmett handed me over to Allen who looked just as nervous as me.
For a minute I just want to disregard the consequences that come with breaking the wedding, I really wanted to end it at the altar but I ended up not doing it because I was talked out of it with a trembling voice, though he didn’t want the marriage, it’ll be a big blow to him if I should cancel it all of a sudden with a lot of people present at the wedding. I can’t believe I’m getting married immediately after my rebirth, and to a person, I don’t love at that. So frustrating!
After the exchange of rings and vows, I left to get ready for the reception but after Kimberly’s effort to put me in the dress and jewelry that Eleanor had made ready for her reception, I decided I was not going because apart from having to see that bastard that hated my guts, I’ll have to carry on the pretense of being Eleanor to everyone, it was tiring, and the heavy jewelry I was clad in was just as frustrating.
I sunk to the bed with all the jewelry on me and the makeup too and Eleanor’s friends, which are now my friend together with the stylist and make-up artist stared strangely at me.
“You’re gonna wrinkle your dress and ruin your make-up if you lay in bed like that” Kimberly was the first to talk.
“I know but I’m not going to the reception” Everyone had a shocked look on their faces, yeah I know everyone expected me to behave like Eleanor will normally do, wear bright shiny smiles as I walked and flaunt the heavy gold during my wedding reception but guess what, I have no intention of doing of that, that reminds me of the promise the dude made to me during the exchange of vows. Yeah, divorce is better…I’m sure I’m gonna do well.
Just marriage pretense for a few months will do, oh…this is driving me crazy! I thought feeling agitated. I ignored Kimberly’s ranting while thinking about how to go back home. The secret files should still be saved, I’m the only one who knows the location of the files so, I have to go get them. The names of corrupt officers, governmental bodies, and spies of other countries, their slush funds, and crimes. It was detailed research done by one of the American spy in morocco but before he was caught he handed the files to Dr. Gavin Brookes who I was supposed to deliver the files to the president himself because going through so many chains would risk the file getting tampered.
The reason why my superiors will never be able to find it was because unlike them thinking it was in a highly classified sealed envelope holder, everything had been scanned and encrypted into a single USB, I need to start working on it soon but first I’d have to work on my physical strength. I feel like I could be knocked over with just a bucket right now, and also, it was hard to eat anything because I still don’t know who the f**k killed Eleanor, my life right now but I’ve saved the circumstantial evidence and everything.
I was still lost in my thoughts when Allen showed up, asking everyone to leave so he could talk to me alone, it was then we finally agreed with calling it off after leaving together for a while because it’ll be weird to request immediately.
Then we left the room together, Kimberly and the rest of the girls were surprised I was hand in hand with that guy but they were happy about it. I guess Eleanor had made such a big deal in owing Allen to the extent that she could project her happiness to them when she had her way.
I don’t know why anyone would have such an elegant hall at their house but at least I know it’s not an ordinary house. It’s a freaking mansion. Everyone at the party screams money, the expensive suits and tuxedo’s the gents had on, the glimmering and shining jewelry the ladies had on their designer evening dresses, everything screams money, these goddamn people had no idea what people like me go through to keep their asses save…oh right, I’m part of them now.
“We should go say Hi to Minister Rowen, he’s with your dad and brother now but it wouldn’t hurt to” I didn’t even listen to the rest of his statement. It was certain he was just trying to extend his roots as well.
“Whatever” I replied indifferently while walking with him hand in hand to see the Minister who was surrounded by my dad, the Mayor, and my brother who looked unsettled.
“Here comes the bride and the groom” From Eleanor’s memories, meeting dad at a boring event like this, I would smile…move over to give him a half-hug, then a cheek peck before doing the same to his associate but can I really do that, I started the process and regret it almost immediately because the Mayor being the perverted bastard that he is, he caressed my waist and felt my skin, would have kneed him in the crotch if I wasn’t surrounded by familiar people.
“I heard you two have known each other since high school and you’ve been in love with him since then, your dad even told me he was the reason you studied hard so you could go to the same school he did” The Mayor grinned. Well, I guess it’s no news how shameless Eleanor was.
“Um yeah, it was a silly crush back then but it slowly developed. I almost can’t believe it that I’m married to him” That was a genuine comment on my part because I still can’t believe it.
“Wow, that’s a sweet love story. So, Allen…when did you fall in love with her?” I guess this shameless man intentionally picked the topic.
“Um, Eleanor has a lot of qualities, she’s not just beautiful but smart, I’m sure anyone would fall in love with her” Dodging the question huh?
“I mean when-” It was clear now, this 60year old, pot-bellied bastard was asking for a fight.
“Mayor, I heard your daughter is now a transgender male, I don’t discriminate but it’s sad since he dropped out of college soon after that?” I didn’t mean to blurt out one of the rumours I heard about the Mayor in front of my dad and the minister but I couldn’t help it.
“What?” His eyes widened in surprise.
“I don’t think you should listen to those types of rumours miss Walker, it doesn’t suit you” Son of a b***h, you think you’ve got the right to tell me what suits me.
“Oh, yeah you’re right, but the rumour kept flying around, it was normal to catch a whiff of stuff like that” That escalated quickly.
“Um, excuse us?”Allen forced a smile and led me out of the reception hall to a secluded corner.
“And what the f**k do you think you’re doing?” He frowned. He looked annoyed but I had to put that old man in his place.
“It’s called putting someone in their place, what right does he have to probe into our private matters-
“It wasn’t a big deal, I would have to answer that question eventually if he didn’t ask the reporters here tonight would have asked.” Oh, that didn’t occur to me.
“And why do you care if I answer the question, weren’t you the one dying to hear such flattery comments from me-
“I was” I answered sharply and his eyes twitched.
“I won’t do it again, so let’s do this and be done with it, even without the heels my legs are killing me” I complained leaving him dumbfounded, I might be the one that suggested going back but he was the first to turn and leave as if he was upset, and I was just about to head in after him when I heard a familiar voice.
“What do you mean you can’t find it, look for it again…it’s already become complicated, no one else must drink from that bottle” Oh nice!
