/Kira's POV/
I couldn't wait to leave already. After Allen agreed to let me use his private jet to leave for Emily Kyle's hometown. In this situation, I'm quite certain she'll be there. I have a feeling whatever keeps her on the wrong had something to do with me since the California military was the one issuing making her a wanted personnel but I'll have to hear it from her.
Allen already left the room the moment after putting a call through one of his friends. I should have been more forward with him that way, I'd know who would be picking me up. I fell asleep in the armchair I was waiting on but was woken up by a soft tap on the shoulder.
"Ma'am" I met with a bald, security guard all dressed in black. It seems they were here for me.
"I was asked to help you to the airport ma'am" So I was told before I stood and my box was dragged behind me. I couldn't see Allen anywhere so my assumption is he went out. That's great we don't have to keep tabs on each other's movement anyway, my top priority right now is to find Emily and talk to her, I urgently need her help, I also have a feeling that the mystery of someone trying to kill me as Eleanor would be solved faster if she joined me in investigating.
I got to the private jet alright, at least that Allen dude's got a conscience with him. He has put three bodyguards on me, well if anything were to happen to me while on this vacation, he'll surely be blamed. I guess being a billionaire's daughter has something to do with that.
I felt nervous that I'm actually leaving my safe haven, New Orleans...My new home. I know I could as easily stand back in sync with my new identity and live a new life, but I had a family before all this came by, even if I cannot return to them...I must at least try to keep them safe and that includes getting rid of pests and insects who could endanger them, they'll probably turn to my family if they don't get their hands on the file they're looking for.
Though my dad's a retired military personnel and combatant, I'm still very worried for him and my siblings, he can't overpower those people if they decide to make him a target.
I should probably call this my luck, transmigrating from California to New Orleans, it still doesn't make any sense to me? What could be the cause of that? I have no idea but I was happy to be alive.
"Would you like to leave for the bedroom ma'am?" The female bodyguard among the three asked as I started dozing off again. What's with me feeling tired.
"Bedroom?" I blinked in surprise.
"Oh, yeah bedroom" It suddenly occurred to me that this is a luxury private jet. Of course, it should have a bedroom. It's not my first time being on a private jet before, it's just the first time I was not on an escort because it's always as an escort of high military personnel, never thought I'll be the one being escorted now.
I followed the bodyguard to the jet bedroom and was surprised by the gray interior, how much money will something like this cost to be maintained? I was curious for a minute.
I changed my clothes and had a warm shower before I decided to take a nap as expected, sleeping was hard for me because of those horrible tortures I went through in my past life, I couldn't have proper sleep because I kept recalling the memories and the pain that followed. Because of this, I wasn't deeply asleep so when someone's shadow cast above me, my eyes fluttered open rolling away from the area since I sense a knife coming for me.
"Well, this was uncalculated for" I mumbled. The person trying to kill me was a female plane attendant, her job is probably to kill me and kill the pilot while she designed the whole bullshit as a crash, I guessed but I'm not Eleanor.
I smirked reaching for the teacup on the left bedside table and flinging it to her face, she guarded against it but that gave me enough time to retrieve the fruit knife on the other bedside table, and because she didn't see me do that she rushed over to stab me before my bodyguards came rushing at me. I used a hand to stop her combat knife attack while stabbing her thigh with the knife I had. She let out a shrilling scream hitting me across the face.
"You b***h!" She screamed at me. Before one of the guards rushed in. It was the third one and he lunged himself against my attacker immediately while I left the bed holding my cheek. I had a burst lip too, damn it...this body is far too weak.
Even the guy had a problem pushing the assassin back, she doesn't look very skilled though...a skilled assassin won't try to kill me in my sleep that's too lenient. She'd have put a bullet through my head the moment we were in the air and she wouldn't have trouble dealing with my bodyguards.
I recall how I'd trembled when holding back the b***h's hand, it was hard...as I thought my body was too weak but that doesn't mean I can't handle the likes of her. I retrieved the champagne bottle from the ice bucket and then walked to her back because she had her hands clasped with my bodyguard she couldn't retaliate as I whack her in the head with the bottle which shattered into pieces, the unpleasant shattering sound was followed by a loud scream of agony since I stabbed her with it.
Her blood gushed out immediately staining the bottle, the time of distraction was enough for my bodyguard to seize her combat knife, and a stab from him had her dropping limp on the floor.
"Are you alright ma'am?" The guy with the cute baby face asked and I shook my head.
"I'm not alright, we just f*****g kill a person" I had to act shocked or it'll be obvious I have killed before and the last thing I want right now is to be suspected of murder.
"No, you didn't kill a person and what happened was just a security measure and self-defense. You could have been killed" He assured me while I let my eyes widen to feign shock.
"You don't need to panic madam, you did well" He commended leading me to the bed while pouring me a glass of water to calm my nerves, it wasn't a necessary measure for me because I wasn't freaked but it is for Eleanor.
"What's gonna happen to her?" I glanced over the lifeless body of the blonde girl that just tried to murder me.
"We'll take DNA samples, photos, phones, and every other thing she had on her so we can properly investigate who wanted you dead. She might not be a skilled assassin but she's well trained" That part sure is true.
"Where...where are the other two people? Are they dead?" I asked acting like I was scared.
"No, they were drugged. Thankfully I was in the restroom, I wouldn't have been able to come to your rescue. You don't have to worry about that. I'll clean up here...why don't you try to get some rest" He urged and I hesitated but I was still very tired so I ended up climbing back on the bed to sleep. When I woke up, we were in Kansas, the bodyguards handled my stuff and all, and thankfully the drugged ones were now awake, I have no idea what happened to the corpse of the assassin but I had no intention to ask.
They booked me a suite with an amazing view of the city because it's been a while since I'd been there I was eager to go sightseeing so I asked the bodyguard to dress casually since I didn't want to stand out.
I miss the loose meat pie and barbecue. So, I visited a restaurant I was used to. Uncle George, was still there, making pies, fries, sandwiches, and burgers. The 53-year-old dark skin guy was introduced to me by Emily, his restaurant was her normal fast food joint.
So, I ordered a hamburger while trying to eat, and the bodyguards who I was still yet to know their names stopped me.
"I don't think that's a good idea, the food might not be safe" The girl with strange hair colour pointed and I smiled. She had her very light pink-looking hair tied into two ponytails, one at each side.
"What's your name?" I asked with a smile and she immediately removed her hand which she had over mine while trying to stop me from biting down on the snack.
"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to overstep my bound-
"I'm not scolding you, I understand that you're only doing your jobs. I just realized I didn't know any of your names and don't worry it's completely safe" I told them as they stared worriedly at me. They were probably wondering why I had to come to this place of all places when I could just as easily order burgers from famous and well-known places.
"I'm Rose" She shyly said her name and I smiled, she does look like a rose, a pink one...even her skin had a shade of pink to it.
"I'm James," the bald one said.
"I'm Curtin" The third one who had came to my rescue in the plane introduced.
"Okay, I'm Eleanor Walkers, though you probably know that by now but I think it's only polite if I complete the introduction," I told them and they looked taken aback for some reason and I never get to ask why because I saw someone leaving with a meal bag, small stature...leggings, hat over hair and an orange jacket, even though she's on a wanted list she still wears a bright colored jacket.
"Guys, wait here" I sprouted to my feet and tried catching up with her but her pace increased as I got closer, and then she disappeared into a corner.
I took the same corner but she was gone. I sighed and turned back but was suddenly slammed against the wall with a dagger to my throat. Typical Emily.
"Why are you following me?" Her muffled voice came rough and low since she had a mask on.
"I'm sorry, you just really look like someone I know. My name's Eleanor...I'm a friend of Kira's" Her eyes widened and she pressed the dagger tighter to my throat.
"Who the f**k sent you? Make any f*****g mistake and I'll kill you right here, right now" Her voice wavered, now she sounded nervous and anxious.
"I really meant no harm. Please..." It was starting to hurt and I felt like I'd be cut if I breathe, that's how tight the dagger was pressed to my throat.
"Don't follow me!" She suddenly let go and turn to leave.
"Sphinx hotel, room 908, top floor. If you want information about her meet me there. My name's Eleanor Walker. Look it up if you want. I only want to help you" She froze in her steps as I spoke but immediately I was done. She left, and then my bodyguards arrived, I feel really glad they didn't come any sooner, I wouldn't have been able to explain the situation to either of the side.
"Lady Eleanor, you're bleeding. What happened?" Oh, did the blade cut me? I reached for my neck and saw some stains.
"Oh, this...it's nothing," I said cleaning my neck.
"And didn't I tell you to stay back-
"How could we leave you to wander alone, it's our job to protect you" Even though they were casually dressed, wearing shirts and shorts like normal tourists they are glued close to me still making them stand out but I can't really complain can I? I sighed and walked out of the alleyway moving to the busy sidewalks.
"Let's return," I said walking back to the restaurant at a leisurely pace. I'm certain Emily will come, I don't know why, but I feel pretty confident about it.
I visited some other places I used to go to often and then returned to my hotel room. I know Emily would take her time, in fact, she might not even come on the same day so I was relaxed but I didn't expect her to show up in the middle of the night.
I was asleep, exhausted and tired but I felt a moving shadow, I don't know if I was able to use my sharpened senses from my previous life or if Eleanor has hers as well but I could feel the strange presence even from my sleep and it had me fluttering my eyes open.
