CHAPTER 5: UPSET

916 Words
The door was slammed shut after the crown prince dragged his lady towards his bed. He was so mad, but he couldn’t do anything. With the way he dragged her towards his room, it was obvious to think that he would do something in his anger that would hurt both of them. But that was where the people went wrong. No, never. He could never do that. He would rather hurt himself but could never hurt her. He left her hand and sat on the edge of the bed, his head bowed. Zelda looked at him with a hint of guilt and sadness in her eyes. More than anything, there was a regretful expression on her face. Regret that she didn’t tell him when he asked. Regret that she hid it from him. But she also knew that, if she revealed it to him when they were having their breakfast, he would have gone to kill those people the next moment. She knew it. Ray didn’t say anything. He just bowed his head after they entered his room and sat on the edge of the bed. He didn’t say anything. Zelda raised her emerald green eyes and noticed him gripping onto the sheets tightly, his fingers turning paler with each second. He was trying his level best to control himself. To not flip out. Zelda sighed, stepping towards him and standing in between his legs. She slowly placed her hands on his shoulders. Keeping her pace unhurried, she ran her hands down from his upper arms to his lower arms, steadily reaching his fists and gripping the sheets. Her slender soft fingers slowly rubbed his hands to let go of the bed linen. Her hands did the magic. He calmed down. Maybe not totally, but he was now calm. Zelda let go of his hands and wrapped her arms around his neck, pulling him closer. He was not just controlling his anger. It was more than that. His emotions. Thinking about what would have happened if Zelda hadn’t taken control of the situation, anxiety and worry filled his heart with each passing second. He leaned more into her body, lying his face on her belly. His hands were behind her, onto her lower back. He continued pulling her until they both lost their balance and fell on his king-sized bed. He lay on the bed while Zelda ended up on top of him. She knew they were falling but she let him. His electric blue eyes were hazy as he kept staring at the modern chandelier in his room, slowly wrapping his arms on her lower back and changing their positions by settling her underneath him. Carefully balancing his weight, he rested his face in the nook of her neck, inhaling her calming scent. Roses. A picture of their rose garden came into his mind every time he took in her scent. That was what he reminded me of every time. Zelda let him do what he wanted because she knew he had to calm down. She let her hands run through his already messed-up ash-blonde hair. They stayed like that for a few moments until she felt Ray moving a little bit. Tightening his arms around her, without any movements in their posture, he mumbled “You’re mine.” The crimson-haired woman smiled and replied “I’m yours” Ray had always done that whenever he felt insecure or unsafe about her. In a normal situation, one would feel offended or annoyed that their partner was still insecure, but she knew where his fear stemmed from. He lost his parents when he was a baby. The nobles always gave him pitiful glances and talked behind his back. Most of his acquaintances were with him because he was the only heir to the throne, or they had ulterior motives. When he was younger, he trusted people who either disappointed him or betrayed him. He craved genuine relations with people. He hardly had friends because of that. Many people left him, and now he was scared of the people whom he cared for leaving him. Because of this, he constantly needed assurance that she was his and….. “You’ll never leave me”. It was not a question but assurance on Ray’s side. “I’ll never leave you” Zelda confirmed. Ray moved to sleep beside her so that she would be comfortable. Zelda turned to the side and they both started staring into each other’s eyes. Emerald and electric blue. He stretched out his hand, slowly touching her cheek, deeply staring into her eyes. “You should have told me, but I also get it. Why didn’t you tell me earlier?”, Ray said. Zelda leaned more into his touch and said “I just didn’t want you to leave in a fit of rage and go kill them.” Ray frowned a little and said “But I’m not leaving them. By the end of the evening, they will be buried six feet deep.” Zelda touched his hand that was on her cheek. “Yes, they deserve that for trying to take me away from you. It’s just that--” Zelda raised herself a bit, hovering over him and kissing him on his forehead before continuing “I didn’t want you to leave me” and looking into his eyes. Ray held her waist and pulled her down into his embrace. As long as she was safe, he would do anything. ___________________________________________________________________________
