Arc 2 - Chap 16: 1 year later...

*** Liana’s POV ***

According to Saeza’s schedule, this is the 279th day we have been training Galen. We want to prepare the best for him as possible before we began our journey to resurrect Iresthea and Cirion as Goddess Galadriel’s message. So as his friend, I would like to support him with my best.

Currently, Galen and I were standing in an empty space. On the ground, there were countless traces of the human’s footsteps being overlapping each other on the sand surface. Around us, the scenery was quiet with no living beings around. The sky was still having an ominous purple clouds. But compared with the moment we stepped our foot at the first time at this place, it had been so far improved, thanks to the Faerins who were purified by Galadriel one year ago.

This island is slowly recovering thanks to the effect of the pure Faerins, but it’s still not enough to be livable. The Faerins just can live near the Tree of Life and they cannot even step out that area. Saeza told me, if they distanced from the Tree of Life, they would be killed and changed to Dark Faerins again.

However, due to lacking species, Faerins won’t be able to stay there forever because they don’t have anything to eat. Frank said that a Faerin can live without absorbing the plant’s aura energy – their main food resource for ten years. But they will be weaker and their power will be lost forever.

Basically, this is the time racing mission. And we just have ten years to complete it.

One year has passed, so there are only nine years left!

I was diving into my own thought, until Galen called me from afar, at the other side of the empty space.

“Liana, are you ready?”

“Aye my bad! Sure, I’m ready!!”

I’m preparing a combat stance, ready to confront the teenager opposite me.

Compared with the moment we met for the first time, Galen has now changed a lot.

Galen was preparing his defensive stance and was concentrating his aura energy and was ready for the combat training. Unlike before, his emerald eyes are looking at me with a strong determination and caution, ready to receive my upcoming attack with a confident smile. The topless costume reveals his six-packs body full of scars which are the consequence of countless injuries from Saeza’s combat training. However, his smooth platinum-colored hair stays unchanged after a year of training, bringing his muscular body a combined atmosphere of strength and elegance.

This is the type of Galen that excites me, urges me to be serious in the fight.

“Liana, this time please use your dragon form.”

I was surprised by Galen’s suggestion and looked at him with widely opened eyes. Is he crazy? If I attack him in dragon form, he will never have a chance to win!

“Don’t worry, Liana. Today I want to break my own limit so you don’t have to treat me. Also, we are gonna fight with the dragons a lot once we go out this island, I want to experience the feeling of fighting with the dragon.”

Ah so that’s the reason. I smiled and looked at my friend, didn’t notice how far Galen has improved himself…

I don’t want to disappoint him, so I will surely use all my best in dragon form to fight with him too.

Different than humans, in dragon form, the amount of my aura energy will be unsealed and multiplied, to the point that I can even feel the heat generated from my own body. I can feel the beating from two places at the same time: My heart and my nape – where my Dragna crystal is located. Their pulses synchronized together, supplied more energies for me, and excites my l**t of destruction.

The will to destroy everything accelerates from my mind. But thanks to the unique ability of the weredragon, I can keep my own sanity and look at Galen with caution. It explains how the other dragons easily go crazy when they see the prey, except weredragon. It was thanks to the human bloodline running in us – the weredragon’s vessel.

“Yare yare, Liana is serious now.”

From afar, I heard Saeza speaking to me, at the judge’s seat.

“Okay let’s do it, if Galen is losing, I will directly intervene to stop you.”

“I don’t need your help Saeza, I will win Liana by myself.”

“Aye hehe, you are just too confident Galen?”

I sent my thought to Galen’s head. Somehow, I feel triggered and annoyed by his confidence now. Is here underestimating me. Or is he trying to attack my mentality to lower my combat’s will? But too bad, Galen is a human. He never knew the weredragon also had a very high pride too.

Hehe, I won’t have mercy on him anymore. I will crush him at any cost!

“Very well, so the training combat between Liana and Galen…

Begin!!!”

*** Galen’s POV ***

I believe that Liana falls into my trap. I have read all Saeza’s books about weredragon, so I know very well the characteristics of the dragons: They will be easily angry if they are triggered.

So I use this trick, with the hope that Liana could show me her mistake during our battle.

Right at the first second of the combat, I already rushed toward her since I have better speed than her.

“ROAR!!”

Completely different than my calculation, Liana didn’t fight back and immediately flew to the sky, where I can never touch her. This is really a smart move from the dragons, so they can freely attack their enemy while not being ambushed. The only thing that can fight them back is long-distance attack, such as a bow or magic.

Yes, I can use magic attack. But I cannot use it now since I need to predict which direction she will fly to.

From the sky, Liana summoned a rain of fire meteor, which is her new skill after a year of training with Saeza as well. The density of the fire magic ball is very dense, so I was cornered and have to directly get hit by them.

But I will also show her my ace as well.

“REGENERATION!!!”

Standing in the middle of the bombard coming right in front of my face, I cast magic. A ray of light covered my body right before the meteor touched me in less than a split of second.

Boom!! The exploding noise is going to break my ears. I can even feel the pain from the burn slowly eating the entire of my body. But that feeling rapidly disappeared, no matter damage Liana caused to me, I immediately heal myself as if nothing happened.

Thanks to Saeza, my skill “heal” has evolved into the better tier – “Regeneration”. It was the result after Saeza trained my healing skill in the most hellish environment possible, to the point that I can use Galadriel’s power with more potential and can rapidly heal anything in a few seconds only, even myself.

But it seemed Liana has advanced my prediction by one step.

Bam! While I was focusing on healing myself, my vision is blurred so cannot see the giant dragon body of Liana rushing to me, like a rocket launching to the ground.

“Uhh!!!”

Her dragon claws violently grabbed my body and dragged me to the sky. I’m sure she is going to airborne attack me by throwing me to the ground.

Normally, if a human fell into this situation, they would think their life surely finish here.

I try to calm myself, not panic and think of another way to deal with it.

A crazy idea then pops up in my head. To me, this is a gambling move, but since I will surely lose Liana at this rate, this way will drag her to be injured with me too!

I took out my main weapon: A wooden knife.

But please, don’t underestimate this toy weapon. Because I equipped it not for stabbing my enemy, it’s made by wood for a reason as well.

Liana’s dragon scale is so solid, so I cannot stab directly her leg which is grabbing my body. But it’s not actually a problem, my second ace will be here from now on.

“Resurrection!!”

The vines grow from my wooden life, wrapped around Liana and blocked her wings. They tied her so tightly that she can barely move anymore. Even with her strength, she cannot escape from my vines.

Liana and I eventually fell together on the ground, the dust got splatted away due to our explosive impact and blurred Saeza’s vision.

I escaped out from the sea of dust, cast “Regeneration” to heal myself.

“Uh that was hurt. So now I win right…”

Suddenly, something s***h right next to my ear that startled me. If that attack hit directly my head, I will surely die!

It’s Liana. I’m surprised by how fast she changes back to human form. This time, I see a beautiful girl with long pink hair and an elegant white dress attacking me with the sword in her fragile yet powerful hand.

Liana seems to not give up yet, so I will greet her will back with my counter as well.

Swiftly, I changed my equipment from a wooden knife to a sword at my waist. The noise of metal impacted at each of our conflicts, causing the loud sound that almost dizzies my head. However, I have been practicing to endure this harsh condition. I keep clashing with Liana, while healing myself. Despite her power isn’t as strong as in dragon form, but in human form, she is so fast, even faster than me! Sometimes I got hit by her sword’s s***h, but my body keeps being healed so it’s like infinite combat.

Until one of us accidentally makes a mistake…

Keng!!

A sword got flipped away from a person’s hand and fell on the ground, distanced from us by fives meters.

The sword of the winner points right in front of the neck of the loser.

It was me, who lost her…

“Yare yare hahaha don’t be sad, Galen. That was the most impressive battle I have ever seen! You two have entertained me so much!”

Inside the shelter, Saeza directly cooked the lunch for both Galen and Liana: It was a weird species of fish with a disgusting appearance, being opened alive and inserted unnamed blue-colored veggies inside. Without hesitation, Galen just ate it immediately. Of course, same as its look, the taste isn’t good either. But he had used living in this dead island. If he couldn’t eat them, he would be starved to death.

There will be one thing once Galen stepped out of this island, he would cook for everyone a proper meal!!

Meanwhile at Liana’s side, like Galen, she also ate intensively as if she was left starving for days. Unlike Galen, Liana’s body was covered by full of bandages after the combat. Supposedly, Galen could heal her, but at the end of the battle, he ran out of aura energy so couldn’t heal her currently.

“AYE!! I’m stuffed!!” Liana rubbed her belly after eating.

“Right, my aura energy is also recovered. Let me help you.”

“Count on you then, hehe.”

Galen wore back his shirt and began healing Liana by standing at her back. Everything happened so fast, that Liana couldn’t feel the pain anymore within a split second. The only thing she just could see was the warmth from a ray of green light. Galen’s healing skill was greatly advanced that he just healed Liana in an instant.

“Aye, thank you very much, Galen.”

“I shall thank you too haha.” Galen smiled “It’s so fun to fight with you.”

“Me too!”

Liana and Galen were talking and laughing at each other. They didn’t notice, Frank was staring at them.

“Hey, love birds. Are you done flirting yet?”

“Wait Frank! It’s not like how you think!”

Galen panicky shut Frank. Despite having a more mature appearance, Galen’s personality still stayed the same when talking about romantic stuff.

“Aye yeah!” Liana agreed with Galen “We are just friends after all.”

“If you two are friends, consider about this fact too….”

Then, Frank pointed to Liana and Galen.

“Liana, you are 15 years old now and you too Galen, you are 16. Don’t you two think about stopping being childish and keeping your manner in front of each other?”

“…No.”

Frank face palmed after getting Galen and Liana’s response.

But deep in Galen’s heart, he truly liked Liana. But he had to pretend acting childish like this in order to keep his friendship with Liana as long as possible. As long as she still sees him as her friend, it was actually enough for him.

For a reason, Galen was afraid of love, he was scared if Liana became his lover and one day he might hurt her, their relationship would be back like before anymore.

All in a sudden, Saeze kicked the shelter’s door and yelled.

“Hey, Galen, Liana!

I’ve caught the signal of Iresthea and know where she is!!”
