School ended.
I was on the bus heading to my destination as always-when I felt a light thunk at the back of my head. I felt the back of it to feel a paper ball. I grabbed it and held it in my face. I open it to read; "You're not a good fit for her, Miss s**t. Try again with someone in your type of group. She's mine."
I crumpled the paper back into a ball, and once the bus stopped at my bus stop. I tossed it into the trash can beside the driver. They're not worth my time to fight for someone who's announced her feelings for me already. I'm not the type to fight for someone unless it's absolutely necessary-just like that first time I fought for Lauren.
Her in that dark classroom with those perverts. I remember it so clearly. I was pissed from my frustration with my own 'friends' and pissed about them trying to r**e her because she's a lesbian. Just thinking about it is pissing me off all over again. Her silent voice cried out for help. I want to be the one to keep her safe, but she's right...if I don't know how I feel towards her along with my sexuality. How can I be sure I'm in love with her?
Her face...I wonder what she looks like...her natural colored eyes. Does she blush? Does she have freckles? Does she have bad acne? Does she have long natural eyelashes?
I'm so curious...I want to know.
I opened the front door of my grandma's house to see the house light's off. I called out her name to not hear a response. I sighed as I closed the door and locked it.
"She must be at the hospital again," I mumble as I walk to my room. "If your heart hurts again then tell your nurse. Telling her you're fine is making everyone worry."
I closed my room door behind me and tossed my stuff next to the door. I took off my school shoes to switch with house slippers. I took out my phone from my bag to order take out. If grandma is in the hospital that means she won't be back for two weeks again, and there's probably no food in the fridge besides leftovers. Spaghetti and tacos. She won't know I didn't eat it. I'll just eat it tomorrow. I'm in the mood for salad and soup.
I placed the order. It says it'll be here in thirty minutes, so I sat at my desk to start my homework when a text from Lauren appeared. I felt a smile form on my lips as I started to reply to her.
Lauren: You arrived home yet?
Me: Yeah...grandma is out for two weeks again.
Lauren: Will she be okay?
Me: Just minor heart issues again. She probably ate something that's not on her recommendation again.
Lauren: How many times has this happened?
Me: A couple. She wears her life alert, so I don't worry much. It alerts me if it's life-threatening.
Lauren: That's good. Also, I heard we're having another award ceremony soon. You think you're on the honor roll again?
Me: I hope so or my grandma will recover miraculously and beat me.
Lauren: Lol. My parents will just change the wifi password till I pass.
Me: Really? That's harsh. I wish my grandma handled my failure that lightly.
Lauren: Yeah...Oh! By the way, I tried to catch you before you left school today. I accidentally left my headphones in your bag. Mind if I come get it?
Me:......you did that on purpose, didn't you?
Lauren: ;) Maybe...
Me: You'll get it tomorrow, Lauren. My grandma hates company besides the ones she brings over.
Lauren: Please! She won't know!
Me: Get here in less than two hours and I'll think about it.
Lauren: ;D Thanks! I'll be there soon!
Me: Hurry up...and I'll think about giving you a kiss on your forehead.
Lauren: Yay! I'm moving fast right now. Wait for me.
Me: Okay...lol.
I put my phone on the desk and placed my head in my hands. I said that without thinking. I just said it like I always kiss her or something. Am I going crazy or do I really feel like kissing her right now? Those lips that always kiss my cheeks that feel so soft. I wonder how they will feel against my lips.
"Ugh!" I threw my hands up and shook my head. "I can't tell what I want anymore."
The door rings, making me jump. I get up from my desk and run to the door. I look through the peephole to see the delivery guy. I sighed in relief thinking Lauren really did rush to get here.
I open the door. "Order for Dani?"
The man nods and looks at the tablet in his hand. "Twenty-thirty-two is the total."
I handed him a hundred. "Is this okay?"
He nods. "Yes." He takes the hundred and hands me the bag. "Let me go get some change. I'll be right back."
I placed the bag on the table behind the door as I waited on the man.
Two minutes later, he handed me my change and left back to his car. He drove away and I closed the door back and locked it. I took my food to my room, and closed my door, and locked it. I don't always lock my door, but it's a habit from my grandma peeping her head in before. She wanted to make sure I was studying. Now it's just a habit that I'll have for a while.
I started to eat my food when my phone buzzed. I looked at it.
Lauren: Which street you said you live on again?
Me: The one by the old church and the elementary school.
Lauren: Okay, be there in a minute.
I almost choked on my food reading that. She's close by? s**t! I'm not even out of my school uniform yet.
I cover my food and quickly change out of my school clothes into pajamas. I put my hair into a messy bun and took off my jewelry.
The moment I heard a knock at the door. I ran to it and opened it to see Lauren.
"Why are you out of breath?" she asks.
"My room is far from here." I lied.
She looks at me. "Where are my headphones?"
I smack my forehead in disbelief. "In my room."
She smiles. "Did you forget about them on purpose?"
"Actually...no...It slipped my mind accidentally."
"Do you want me to go get them? or Will you get them?"
I move out the way. "You can get them."
She walks into the house. "I see..."
I close the door behind her, and we both head to my room.
"I thought you said your room was far away."
I made a thin line with my lips. "I lied. I didn't want you to know I didn't change out of my uniform yet."
She looks down at my bag. "I see you just came home lazy. I don't mind. I did the same. This is a dirty outfit from yesterday."
I look at her. "Really? It's spotless."
"I only wore it around the house."
"Makes sense."
She reaches into my bag and pulls out her headphones. "Here they are."
I felt my hair pin fall out. "Damn it. It fell out."
At the same time. I reached down for the pin and she turned her head in my direction.
Before we knew it. My face and her face were too close for comfort.
I could hear her breathing, and smell the mint gum on her breath. I didn't move as I stared into her eyes. I could feel my chest tighten up as the urge to kiss her came rushing back. Those damn lips. I want...to...kiss...those....damn....lips.
We both inch closer to each other...closer...closer...
Until...
