The workday came and went, and Victor got ready to leave for the cafe as Jonas stopped outside his office. “You ready to go?”
“Yes, I was heading out right now.” He grabbed his jacket and shut and locked the door behind him.
“Great, we can walk together.”
Victor nodded.
“So do you like living in Northfield?” Jonas glanced at him over his shoulder as he stepped ahead of Victor to open the door.
Victor didn’t know how to answer. “I…yes, it’s…”
Jonas chuckled and shook his head. “Not what you’re used to.”
“No, it’s different. I like this job all right, and I love our house, but it’s been harder than I expected to find our way here. Everyone is nice, but I know Jian worries…You haven’t had any problems living with Abe? With what people say, I mean.”
