Finding Lucia

Lucian’s POV It was the morning after my sister’s birthday party and my mother came to me all flustered and worried.  “Have you seen your sister my dear?”  She asked in a worried tone.  I thought about it, and I hadn’t seen her since she cut her birthday cake last night.  “No, now that I think about it, I haven’t seen her since last night when we cut her cake.  But I wouldn’t worry about it mom.  She probably had a lot of fun and is sleeping late this morning.  You know how it is when you get your wolf for the first time.  Remember I spent all night running the woods.”  Mom looked at me with terror in her face and said “Lucian I was supposed to meet her behind the pack house so that she could shift for the first time, and she never met me.  I’m worried because I caught her sneaking off to the lake last night.  She told me she met her mate but wouldn’t tell me who it was and that she was meeting him by the lake so they could get to know one another.”  With that my heart sank.  We’ve been having rogue problems by the lake recently and for my sister to slip off put her in incredible danger.  An Alpha’s daughter would be a huge notch on their belt if they were to kidnap or worse kill her.  I immediately mind linked my beta and a few of the pack warriors that Lucia was missing and last seen heading to the lake.  “Right behind ya, bro.” Me Beta Brian told me in a link.  Followed by the pack warriors we made it to the lake in no time.  My eyes were scanning the lakeshore for any sign of my sister.  One of the warriors shouted and my heart sank at the words coming from his mouth.  “She’s over here and she’s not moving.  Alpha Lucian I’m afraid she’s barely breathing.”  I ran to them and scooped my sister up.  “Lucia, baby sis don’t leave us.  Hang on just a little bit longer I promise we will get you help.”  I mind linked the pack doctor and informed her that one of my fastest warriors was coming in full force with my sister on his back.  “She injured and barely breathing doc.  Please save her.”  I then was faced with the task of telling my mother that I found her precious baby girl and in what condition she was in.  I can already tell that mother was going to blame herself for not following her or at least letting me or father know where she went.  I would have stopped her if I had known.  From the looks of her she didn’t get to shift so I wondered what that would do to her wolf.  I mind linked my parents to meet me at the pack hospital and of course they questioned me as to why.  I informed them that I would let them know as soon as they got there but the news wasn’t good.  My mom started crying before I shut the link.  When I walked into the hospital I was greeted by the doctor.  “Future Alpha Lucian.  I wish I had better news for you, but the fact is that I’m not sure if your sister is going to pull through.  It appears that she was attacked before she had a chance to shift for the first time.  With that being said she hasn’t gained her wolf yet and she is suffering as a human would suffer.  Most humans won’t survive the injuries she has sustained.  Our only hope is keeping her in a coma and hoping that her body will take the time to heal properly.  But I need to prepare you she probably won’t make it.”  I heard my mother gasp and collapse in tears behind me.  My parents knew everything.  I turned to Brian and said in a rage “I want every f*****g rogue out there found and killed.  The did this to my sister and they will pay.” Brian’s POV Fuck they found her, and she was still alive.  How in the hell was that stupid b***h still alive after the beating I gave her?  She hadn’t shifted yet so I knew from previous experience that a human couldn’t heal from the injuries I gave her.  I was certain that Lucian would want a full investigation after hearing that his mother had mentioned a possible mate for his sister.  But to my amazement he jumped straight to the conclusion that the rogues did it.  When I heard the doctor tell the family that she probably wouldn’t make it I was relieved I didn’t have to worry about that.  If by some miracle the b***h pulled through, I would silence her forever.  But for now, I needed to warn my rogue friends in the wood that there was a bounty on their heads, and they need to make scarce for a while.  I would tell them when things calmed down some and they could come back.  Pulling out my phone I texted Lars, the leader of the rogue pack to let him know what was going down.  “Hey, the Alpha’s daughter was just found down by the lake beaten almost to death.  Take your pack and head out of the territory for a bit.  Rogues are being blamed for the attack.  Will let you know when things calm down.”  It didn’t take long for me to get a response “what the f**k dude?  I talked with all my pack, and nobody was by the lake last night.  f**k what are we going to do?”  I didn’t respond, I couldn’t respond when Lucian was walking up to me.  His eyes were all red and puffy, he had been crying with his parents.  I get it, this was his sister, but I just couldn’t have an ugly duckling like her as my mate.  I deserved to have a beauty like Linda by my side.  I faked the sympathy and just hugged my future Alpha and friend.  If he ever found out the truth, I would be a dead wolf no matter what our relationship was.  Attack of a member of the Alpha’s family was cause for immediate death. After a week of hunting the rogues were nowhere to be found and Lucian figured that they must have realized who they attacked and ran away in fear.  His mom was asking if they had found out who the potential mate was for Lucia.  Lucian nodded his head and told his mom that he had a theory that she was fooled into thinking he was her mate, but it was actually a rogue instead.  They just didn’t realize it was the Alpha’s daughter they lured out there which is why they all disappeared.  That explanation seemed to be viable with everyone.  However, I still had a major problem.  Lucia was actually starting to recover.  They had taken her out of the medically induced coma, and she was breathing on her own.  While everyone was rejoicing at the progress, she was making I was trying to figure out how to make her have a turn for the worse.  Then the worse that ever happened.  She woke up.  Everyone flooded around her, and I was pulled in to be by her bedside along with them.  She looked around the room at everyone locking eyes with me for just a brief moment then continuing on.  When Lucian asked her if she remembered what happened she said she remembered being attacked.  He asked her if she knew who it was that attacked her, and she nodded her head.  “Can you tell us who did this to you little sis?  We really need to catch them.  We can’t have them hurting a member of the Alpha family let alone another pack member.  She started to cry and then said “he told me he was my mate.  He wanted me to meet him by the lake before we announced it to everyone so that we could get to know one another better.  But he rejected me and then beat me.” “Lucia it’s important do you know the name of your potential mate?  We need to bring him in.”  She cried and said, “I’m sorry brother I don’t know his name.”  I breathed a sigh of relief to which my friend took as frustration.  “I stick by my theory it’s a rogue.”  She looked at me behind her brothers back and I knew I had to convince her to keep her memory vague.  I couldn’t lose my title.
