Krystal noticed the rich mogul, the reason for this party, the birthday celebrant. The moment he walked into the party, everyone stopped and their eyes turned towards him.
However, the mogul has only one thing in his eyes, and it was Krystal. He spotted her easily because of her stunning dress. It's not that hard to notice a beautiful woman among the crowd.
The other guests hurried towards the mogul when they saw him coming, including Giselle and her friends and those who were talking ill of her. They all flocked towards him, wanting to start a small conversation with him in hopes that they might form friendship, too.
Krystal noticed all their faces. How shameful of them to walk to this man and act so kindly, like they weren't just talking ill of her.
Weren't they just spreading rumors that the reason behind her three failed marriages was because she wasn't interested in men? They were just talking about her knock-off dress, hurling all kinds of insults at her, and now in a blink of an eye, their attitude changed as soon as they saw Lestat coming.
"Krystal?" The mogul asked, looking directly at where Krystal was, all alone and abandoned at the corner of the room.
The old mogul squinted his eyes to take a perfect look on her face. Krystal smile and stood up from her seat to welcome him.
"Krystal Fleur!" The old mogul shouted as he walked directly to her, pushing off the crowd who were trying to take their chance to have a private conversation with him. He knew it was her. He would know Krystal even if she was far from him, even with his poor eyesight.
"Lestat," Krystal called him with his first name, surprising the whole crowd.
She did not even call him Mister or Sir. She just blatantly called him in his first name, as if he was not even way older than her. As if nothing could surprise them enough, the people held their breath when the multi-billionaire 70-year-old man who organized this party bowed at Krystal showing her the utmost respect. He even took her hand and kissed the back of her palm as if she was royal.
Everyone turned quiet that you would hear a pin drop. Everyone felt like a cold water was poured down on them when they saw the whole exchange between Lestat and Krystal. Everyone's eyes were wide open as they watch the scene unfold. Who really is Krystal Fleur?
They thought she was just someone pretending to be rich, a woman that no one wants to marry for some fishy issue. However, when the crowd saw the kind of respect that Sir Lestat had shown her, they realized that they know nothing about Krystal at all.
What kind of multibillionaire would bow down on a simple woman? Krystal Fleur must be a prominent woman for that to happen.
They finally all wondered who Krystal really was and why someone like Lestat would show that degree of formality to her.
"Ms. Krystal, you look stunning in your diamond cocktail dress. I only wonder how much it costs you. This is more expensive than all my mansions combined!" Lestat complimented before he could reach her. As a result, everyone heard what he said and the women of the crowd started to stare at her dress enviously after insulting it seconds earlier.
"Plastic beads."
"Knock off dress."
There were the words that left their lips. How ridiculous that the rich people like them couldn't recognize a real diamond from afar. Can't they afford diamonds so much that they couldn't tell a fake diamond from a real one?
Krystal maintained her elegant posture, especially in front of the great amount of attention that Lestat had just given her. She has been trying to avoid this kind of attention, but he still managed to give it, nonetheless.
"Ms. Krystal, I've been waiting for you at the entrance. I thought you would fail to come," Lestat started a small conversation with her, used to the kind of attention that everyone is giving them.
From Lestat's face, it's evident that he is glad to find that she is here.
"Why will I not come? You have shown me too much kindness. It's only right that I come here to celebrate your 70th birthday with me."
The crowd around them still did not disperse, they watched the two talk outrightly, still surprised that Krystal Fleur is actually something. If they knew this from the start, then they would have left their groups and started a new conversation with her.
She has been alone in the corner the entire time, they couldn't believe that they missed such an opportunity to get well acquianted to a woman like her. What's worse is they have been talking ill about her behind her back.
"No, Ms. Krystal." Lestat shook his head and held her hand. "I owe you too much. If it wasn't for you, I wouldn't be having this grand celebration right now."
Lestat turned around to face the other guests and took Krystal's hand to his. "Everyone, let me introduce to you Ms. Krystal Fleur, the reason behind my business's success. If it wasn't for her, I will not reach what I have achieved today," he announced to everyone in a large booming voice.
With his other hand, Lestat raised his champagne. "To Ms. Krystal!"
"To Ms. Krystal!" The guests said in unison, and they toasted.
Krystal smiled at Lestat when she saw him smiling at her at the corner of her eye. Krystal felt uncomfortable at the eyes that were fixed on her, but at least this would clarify that she isn't like the woman that they thought her to be.
Krystal hates to be misunderstood.
Lestat and Krystal has known each other way beack before his business had grown this big. These people around them had no idea of the kind of help that Krystal gave to Lestat.
Lestat owes Krystal too much, and he is grateful enough to know how to give back what he owes and appreciate the help that Krystal had given him. During the lowest point of his life, Krystal was there and invested in his declining business, turning it to what it is now.
When all his investors and friends had left him, only Krystal was there to stay.
That rich mogul had already paid her well enough, but he still treats Krystal with too much respect because he believes that without her, he wouldn't have achieved all the money and fame that he has right now.
"Sorry for avoiding you," Krystal whispered to him.
"It's okay, I know how much you want to keep everything to yourself. I'm sorry for making you uncomfortable for a short moment," Lestat whispered back and everyone could see how close the two were to each other.
"I fogive you. Since everyone's eyes are already on me, do you have some place else where I could be alone?" Krystal asked him.
Lestat smiled. "There is a nearby forest here that I'm sure you would like. I will take back all the attention now so you can leave quietly."
"Thank you," Krystal whispered as Lestat stepped into the crowd and the people started flocking to him once again to talk to him.
Meanwhile, Krystal slipped away without anyone noticing and left the party for the nearby forest that Lestat is talking about.
Away from the noisy crowd, the blinding lights, Krystal tredge deeper to the forest in hopes of finding peace and silence.
Out of nowhere she heard a faint snap of a small twig through my special hearing.
