Chapter 4

Rowan couldn't believe his eyes when he finally saw a good look on Krystal's face. He couldn't refute the striking resemblance that Krystal had with Kristen. This wasn't the first time that Rowan had seen Krystal. He had seen her first in the party, sitting alone in the corner, wearing the most stunning dress he had ever seen, picking at her fingernails. He watched her silently as she peeled off the nail polish off her fingers. She reminded him of Kristen, for Kristen used to scratch or play with her fingernails whenever she feels tense or nervous. Rowan tried his best to take a good look at Krystal's face at the party, but because of the crowd blocking her view and the distance they had between them, he wasn't able to do so. Now that he had seen Krystal's face this close, he was almost sure that she was Kristen. "Kristen," Rowan couldn't stop her name from escaping his lips when he saw her. Krystal looked at him even more confused when she heard him utter a different name. "Daddy! Daddy!" The little boy ran out of Krystal's arm and went straight to his father who gave him a huge smile. Krystal stood up and finally faced the two directly. She watched the two father and son in silence as she admired the resemblance that the little kid has with his father. The boy is like the miniature version of his father. "Rowan," Bianca utters the man's name. "What are you doing here?" she asks him politely. Krystal's eyes widened when she recognized the name. Rowan, isn't that her third fiance's name? "Couldn't it be that the man right in front of me is my fiance?" Krystal asks herself in thought "Your husband ordered me to come here to call you. He's been looking for you everywhere, you should go," Rowan informs her. Bianca's eyes widened when she heard that her husband has been looking for her. Her husband that is Krystal's second fiance. Bianca stared at Krystal. She doesn't really want to leave her here without having her forgiveness, but since she had no choice, she left Krystal alone with Rowan and his son. Seeing that Krystal has nothing left to do here for the boy has already met his father and she couldn't have her time alone in the forest, Krystal tried to leave, but the two stopped them. "Kristen," Rowan called her name. "It's Krystal, not Kristen," Krystal replied, thinking that he might have only misheard or mispronounced her name. Rowan frowned and stared at Krystal once again. She's saying that she is Krystal, but she looks exactly like Kristen if it wasn't for the expensive clothes and the way she is handling herself right now, Rowan would actually believe that she is Kristen. However, how could Kristen be the woman right in front of him right now? Rowan's mind is deeply confused that he did not know what to think or what to believe in. He feels like his mind is being played right now. Is she playing tricks on him? "Kristen," Rowan called her in a different name again. "It's Krystal," Krystal interrupted him, correcting his mistake for the second time. "But Kristen is my mommy's name, if you're my mommy then your name should be Kristen," the little boy joined their conversation. Krystal sighed. Now he knows that the little kid inherited his stubborness from his father. "I'm not your mother, dearie. You must have mistaken me from someone else. My name is Krystal, not Kristen, no one has ever called me Kristen before," Krystal told the little kid with a smile even though she's starting to get annoyed. She doesn't want to be rude to an innocent child who has mistaken her for his mother because he grew up with no mother. Rowan stood silent, his eyes were at Krystal's fingernails, coated with chipped nail polish after he saw her peel it out forcefully in the party earlier. Then, she stared at Krystal's face, not knowing what to think. "Don't you remember me? Don't you remember us?" Rowan asked her filled with hope that he would see positive reactions from her, instead he was met with a confused gaze. Krystal doesn't know them at all. So that the two would stop pestering her, Krystal thought of it carefully, racking her brain with any memories that she might have about them even though she is sure that she had never met them before. "I'm sorry, I really don't know. I couldn't remember meeting both of you before. If I did, I'm sure that I would remember. You must have mistaken me for someone else," Krystal apologized, even though she thinks she has nothing to be apologizing for. Rowan knows her too well to know if she's lying or saying the truth. Right now, he could confirm that she's saying the truth. Rowans's heart broke at her words for he realize that she wasn't pretending not to know them. She actually doesn't remember who they are and he wonders why. What happened? How could she forget them just like that? Rowan forced a smile on his face instead so that Krystal wouldn't be confused anymore and think that they were lying to her. "You don't know who I am?" Rowan asked her, trying his best not to let out the true emotion he is feeling. "I know that you are my fiance. We are arranged to marry each other, but you said you don't want to marry me. You told me that you are already in love with someone else," Krystal told him and paused. She looked at the little kid, thinking if she should ask him her question in front of him or not. "Is he, her son?" Krystal still asked. Rowan smiled at Krystal. "Yes... he is." Krystal looked at the boy once again and returned Rowan's smile. "I should leave now," Krystal excused herself, but Rowan stopped her. "Darling!" He called her. Krystal stopped in her tracks and looked at Rowan with wide eyes. "What did you just call me?" Krystal asked him sharply. "Darling, Am I not allowed to call you darling? I am your fiance after all," Rowan answered her without a mixture of jest in him. Krystal scoffed, if he thinks she would be kind to him just because he is in front of his son, then he's wrong. "You were saying that I'm the one who forgets, but it turns out you are the one who forgot that you once told me that you don't want to marry me because you are in love with someone else," Krystal told him sarcastically, staring right into Rowan's eyes. Rowan's gaze did not falter, he looked back into Krystal's eyes, their gazes colliding with each other. Krystal leaned towards him. "Keep it in your pants, man. Your son is here, you don't want him to see you replacing his mother just like that. You already had a son with her, and you have already rejected me. What you're doing right now is not good," she whispered so the little boy wouldn't hear. Rowan chuckled lightly at her words and stared at her with pure affection and admiration in his eyes. Krystal could see the way he looks at her. It's as if Rowan is telling her that she is the only woman she will ever love
