Morning arrived fast and unlike the noisy evening Elaine spent fighting with the two vampires she was greeted with a soft “Good morning” by her father. It was nice to see his father smile ever-so-brightly at her so early morning.
But the pain in her back didn’t make it quite possible for her to find the scene completely pleasant. Her wound from last night still hadn’t healed up completely.
Elaine put her palm in the bed and pushed herself up wincing from the pain in the procees.
“You don’t need to push yourself so hard. Your wound is still raw even if I did some first aid on it last night.” Milo’s face became covered with worry after seeing the pain in Elaine’s face.
“Why haven’t I healed yet?” Elaine’s question made Milo stop in his actions. He was stunned by Elaine’s sudden question.
“That…” Milo had a frown in his forehead as he spoke, but that frown disappeared a second later. “i should be the one asking that question don’t you think?” Milo’s face become laced with suspicion which was clearly a half joke.
Elaine fell silent after seeing her father’s face. She had no idea why she was not in the same state as she had fought the vampire by the river. She did not know why and how her body become so weak as it was. Even after racking her brains thinking when did she started to get weak seemed to make her mind overheat.
Milo looked at her daughter with pity written all over his face.
“You don’t have to think too hard about it. Maybe you are just going through a phase you have never had before.” Milo smiled to try and assure Elaine that everything was fine.
Elaine smiled at her Milo and liedd back down on her stomach with Milo’s help.
“I will call your teacher and tell her that you won’t be going to class today. You should take a week’s rest after your injury heals.” Milo announced before going out of Elaine’s room.
Elaine watched as Milo closed the door before closing her eyes. She needed rest just like what her father had told her. It was the thing she needed the most right now. However, as soon as she closed her eyes a certain man’s face popped in her mind.
‘I wonder what Damien is doing right now.’ She thought not noticing that her cheeks have started to heat up and become flushed.
Elaine had suddenly miss the matcha tea that Damien had always made for her.

Outside the cabin stood Milo in the phone. He had called Elaine’s teacher to tell her about being absent for the next few day or weeks even. He made up a lie of her not feeling well. It was not completely a lie but it was also not the truth either.
Her teacher immediately said that it was fine and that Elaine should get the rest that she needs before hanging up the phone as the classes have already started.
Milo slipped his phone to his pants and walked down the path to go to a place where he would confront someone. Several minutes later, a bell rang as Milo opened a door.
“Morning, Milo-” Damien did not manage to finish his sentence when Milo jumped through the counter and pushed Damien to the wall swiftly.
“What did you feed her?” Milo’s face held a serious expression, but Damien’s was nothing like Milo’s. If kills could kill a person then Milo would have been long dead.
“Get your hands off me before someone sees us.” Damien’s words made Milo snap back to himself. Damien took a small controller in his pocket and pointed it to the glass window and door before pushing a button. Thick curtains covered the whole glass area which made no one outside to peak ay what was going on inside. Another push at another button and the door made a clicking sound signaling the two people inside that they had their privacy. However, Damien seemed to not be satisfied at the current level of privacy and pushed a wall deep within the kitchen and a secret stairs showed itself.
Damien was the first to go down the stairs and Milo followed his closely from behind.
No one knew what had occured in that secret basement that particular day. Only the two men knew what happened on their private engagement.

Three days have past since Elaine cameback wounded from her last fight. She was still recovering from the fatal injury she had from that battle.
Meanwhile, in the middle of the underground room which everyone knows but Elaine, stood the resident of the island. Each of them held their own original expressions and personalities.
“The plans have changed. We’ll be starting the second phase of the plan.” A deep voice resonated through the walls of that underground room.

“Dad, is there no invasions in the city?” Elaine was lying on her stomach as usual. Her wound had gradually healed up but it was still worse for her not to push any pressure on it for it will open up again.
“Well, fortunately, there are still none at the moment. The island suddenly became quiet as if the calm before the storm.” Milo said nonchalantly.
“Don’t say that! It might come true.” Elaine pouted at Milo and made him chuckle. However, his chuckle did not last long. He meant what he said. It had become too quiet at the island. As if a raging storm was silently heading its way to the island.
“By the way, if my teacher not suspicious that I’m still unwell?” Elaine tilted her head to the side.
“Not really, no. It actually feels like she doesn’t want you to come back anymore.” Milo pinched his chin and wore a serious expression in his face.
“Wow. What a great teacher.” Elaine’s face had an unbelievable look on it as she commented at her father’s words.
“Well, I could sympathise with her atfer all you are not exactly a good student either.” Milo still had a serious look in his face as if he was really considering what he said to be true.
“You are just too much. Don’t you think you have been harsh on me since I came back from the last mission?!” Elaine’s face was agitated.
“Isn’t it true though?” Milo had a clueless look on his face as he titlted his head to the side.
“ARGHHH!!!”
