Chapter 7: Frustration

1043 Words
Nickoli’s POV:   I was in my room listening to music when my sister Jessica barged in without knocking. "The hell! Ever heard of knocking?" I said irritatedly. She was the last person I wanted to see right now. I was frustrated.    I have a mate who doesn't have a clue of who I was, besides all the lies my sister tells her. She's so innocent and she doesn't even know half of what goes on in the world she's living in. Jessica stood at my door just looking at me.    "You look like shit." She said bluntly. I glared at her.    "Oh, really now. I wonder why," I said sarcastically. She sighed. "What do you want? If you have nothing to say, then get out." I growled out, not wanting to look at her. From the corner of my eyes, I saw her flinching. Serves her right.    "Why did you have to pick my friend as a mate?" She finally asked. I glanced at her and she looked sad, but behind that I could clearly see her anger. I glared at her.    "You think I chose her? Fate did! And I'm damn well happy I got a mate. I don't care what you tell Annabel about me. I will have her as mine and you won't be able to do anything about it. It's hard loving someone you know nothing about! Now would you excuse me and get the f**k out of my room!" I roared, getting up. I was sick of the games my sister was playing. Jessica looked down at the ground and scurried out of my room. I ran my hand through my hair and leaned against the wall. Times like this would be good for someone’s mate to calm them down, but I don't have that at the moment.   The first time I saw Annabel was in the woods. I knew she would be something special to me. I didn't know it would be this hard to get to know her. I never signed up for this type of torture and believe me, this is the worst torture anyone could get. I sighed and looked around my room. Clothes, papers, books everywhere. I wonder if Annabel likes clean or messy places. I groaned. I wouldn't know.    "Son, come to the office. I need to speak with you." My dad said with authority in his voice through the mind link. I pushed myself off the wall and walked out of my room. Walking down the hall, I made my way to my father's office. I knocked on the door and I heard my dad say 'come in.' I opened the door and stood in front of him.    "You wanted to see me," I said emotionless.    "Yes. As you may know, I am going to be stepping down from the Alpha title soon. Everything will be in your hands afterwards. It has come to my attention that you didn't come across your mate. When you become Alpha, your mate will make you stronger. You don't have much time." My dad said. I sighed.    "I found my mate, dad." I said softly. He looked surprised.    "Really? Then why didn't you say something?" He asked.    "Because your precious daughter told her to stay away from me!" I said, getting worked up.    "You will not raise your voice at me!" My father roared.    "Sorry." I muttered.    "Invite this girl to dinner some day," my father said.    "Can I at least do it when I know she's mine?" I asked with a sigh. He nodded.    "Dinner's almost ready. Your mother is downstairs." I nodded and left my father's office. Soon it would be mine.   After dinner, most of the time I stayed in my room. Never in my life have I thought I would find my mate. Now that I have her, it's hard to even get close to her. Hours passed and I wasn't tired. A sudden bolt of energy just burst inside of me.    I smelt the scent of strawberries.    Annabel? She's here!    A smile that I didn't know was there made its way onto my face. I bolted down the stairs and ran outside. How can she be here? Suddenly, I felt fear seep through me, but it wasn't my fear. It was Annabel.    I followed her scent  and found a wolf in front of her. I growled and turned into my wolf. I took a closer look at the wolf that was in front of her. It was one of my pack members. Nathaniel.    "No! If you touch her, I will kill you in a heartbeat." I growled using the mind link to him. Nathaniel snapped his head in my direction.    "This is-" I cut him off.    "Yes. Now leave." I snapped at him. He backed away from Annabel and ran in a different direction.    My attention was back on Annabel, who was sitting on the floor. She had her head in between her legs and I stood there waiting for her to look up. I whined, getting impatient. I just wanted to see her face.    When she looked up, it was like I could feel the excitement she gave off. Something in my heart swelled. She was happy to see me. As she walked closer to me, I took a few steps forward to her. She outstretched her hand and rested it on my head, slowly touching my fur. Her touch was everything to me at the moment. I wagged my tail, loving the way she touched me. She wasn't scared of me.    "I haven't seen you in a long time." I heard her say. She giggled and my ears perked up. I would give anything for her to look so happy around me. I just need to find a way to talk to her. She sat down and I followed her. For the rest of the night we sat there in silence. I didn't have a care in the world at that moment. I had my mate beside me whether she knew it or not and I would remember this forever.   I hope that soon enough I would be able to have this same moment together with her, without me being in my wolf form.
