On a cloudy morning, Lynne entered Esperanza’s mansion. The woman was wearing simple clothes but it emphasized how beautiful she was at the moment. When she arrived in the living room, the whole family was gathered, chatting as usual. “Oh isn’t that Lynne, why did you—“ before Lynne’s aunt could finish her sentence, the woman was stunned to see how all the terrible burns on Lynne’s face disappeared. “How is that possible?” Esperanza’s main mistress, Lynne’s mother, immediately walked over, holding her daughter’s shoulders and looking at the woman’s face carefully. “How is that possible? What happened? Oh my gosh my daughter is so beautiful.” “Mother, my husband helped me treat all the scars on my face. Now I’m fine and I don’t embarrass the Esperanza family.” Lynne smiled until her eyes curved just enough to make the woman even more beautiful. “Oh my gosh you are a gem.” Mrs. Esperanza’s eyes sparkled, she rubbed Lynne’s face as if she was holding the most precious thing in the world. “If only you had returned to being like this a long time ago. You wouldn’t have had such a hard life.” Seeing how the whole family was so drawn to Lynne’s beauty, Stevie snorted unhappily. She turned to Old Master Esperanza. “Grandpa, even if Lynne has returned to being beautiful, she is still useless because she married a strange, unemployed bastard.” Everyone was silent for a moment, the room suddenly became silent. Stevie smirked, covering her lips as her eyes widened slightly. “Oh! Did I say something wrong?” “No, you’re right.” Stevie’s mother immediately shook her head. “Yes, however, even if you regain your beauty, you are still useless to the Esperanza family because you married a bastard with no origin.” Old Master Esperanza cleared his throat, drawing the attention of all his family members. “I will give you a choice, if you really want to prove that you are useful to our family.” “What is it, grandpa?” Lynne asked. “Just divorce your husband and I will arrange another good engagement for you.” The grandfather’s answer immediately made Lynne stare in disbelief. “How could I do that?” “Just think of it as compensation for you because Esperanza’s family has raised you all this time.” Old Madame Esperanza immediately replied. Behind the expensive leather fan and peacock feathers, Lynne could still see her grandmother’s wide grin. “No!” The woman immediately exclaimed, shaking her head firmly. “I would never do that!” With that, Lynne turned around, with her emotions boiling over, she left Esperanza’s mansion. Mrs. Esperanza cleared her throat awkwardly. “I raised her wrongly, but don’t worry, I will definitely be able to make my daughter divorce that man.” “No need, daughter-in-law.” Old Madame Esperanza replied. “We can start with the other side. Let our little Lynne know how someone can change just because of money. Call Lynne and her husband to come tomorrow. But don’t let that man know that Lynne is also coming that day.” “What are you planning?” Mr. Esperanza, the current head of the family, finally spoke up. “Prepare $500,000. Let’s see if money can buy love.” “So what do you want?” Damian asked. The man sat in the living room of Esperanza’s mansion, staring at Old Master and Old Madame Esperanza. Old Madame Esperanza couldn’t help but smile. The old woman looked at Damian, she cleared her throat. “Well, tell me what your name is.” “Damian Scott.” “Oh that’s a common name.” Old Madame Esperanza replied with a mocking smile. “Don’t you know that our Lynne has already gained her beauty?” “Yes, I helped her treat the scar.” “If you really love Lynne, you should divorce her so she can marry someone much better than you.” The old woman said immediately making Damian narrow his eyes. The man snorted. “You threw her away to me when she still had a scar on her face and now you force me to return her after she regains her beauty? Do you think of Lynne as an object?” “You are just a commoner, you won’t know the traditions of us noble families.” Old Madame Esperanza still maintained her smile. “You certainly don’t want to drag Lynne into that poor and rustic life, right?” “What if I refuse?” “I sometimes understand how young people think these days. It doesn’t matter if you’re poor but at least you have a beauty by your side.” The woman said. “But what if I make you rich? I’ll give you 500,000 dollars and you can get another beauty easily, right?” Damian raised an eyebrow, looking at Old Madame Esperanza like he was looking at an i***t. “I don’t know how you think of me, but I never intended to divorce Lynne until she asked for it herself.” “Hey, can my beautiful granddaughter be paired with a poor man like you?” Old Master Esperanza finally spoke up. “You have no right to say anything with your poverty now.” “Are all people who call themselves nobles like this? Just a bunch of dogs who bark and lick their own spit?” Damian snorted loudly. “I swear to myself that I will never divorce Lynne. Take your money back, I don’t need it.” Old Master Esperanza took a deep breath. He stared at Damian with an expressionless face. “I’ll give you one chance. If you fail this chance, I’ll take Lynne away from you by force.” “Tell me what chance it is.” “This bastard has no manners at all!” Old Madame Esperanza glared but her husband immediately stopped her. “Make a deal with the Imperial Sage Group. I heard they have a new project in the capital. If you get this project within a week, we won’t interfere with your marriage with Lynne.” “No!” Lynne had been in a room not far from the living room, she could hear the entire conversation of the three people. “Why did grandpa do this?” “It’s for your happiness!” “No!” Lynne shouted loudly, the girl approached Damian, brought the man to stand up, ready to leave the mansion. “You guys never even thought about my happiness at all, you only think about money, money, and money.” “Lynne is that how you talk to your grandfather?” Old Madame Esperanza spoke up. Stevie chuckled. “Even after getting her beauty, her personality is still like a wild girl who has no manners.” “None of that is your business. Damian, let’s go back.” Damian pulled Lynne, stopping her movement. “Okay, I accept this deal. If I get this project in one week, you guys are not allowed to bother me anymore. But if I get this project tomorrow, you guys have to bow down at my wife’s feet, apologizing for what you’ve done so far.” “Are you crazy?” “How dare a poor man say something like that?” “He doesn’t even know where he is right now.” “It’s so sad to have a delusional husband.” “Yeah, he’s probably hallucinating.” “Shut up.” Old Master Esperanza cleared his throat, he looked at Damian and then nodded confidently. “Yes, deal accepted.”
