Damian took Lynne to a house in the suburbs. The house was just a simple one-story house with a fairly large yard, looking comfortable to live in. It still took time to repair the Anderson family’s old mansion and Damian felt it would be too much trouble if he had to buy a new mansion.
The man led Lynne into the house, sitting the girl in the living room. “Do you need anything? I’ll ask someone to carry your things from Esperanza’s mansion.”
Lynne was still silent. The girl lowered her head deeply, not daring to even make a sound. Slowly her sobs began to be heard, her body shaking uncontrollably.
Damian was silent seeing that. He had a lot of experience on the battlefield but never once had he ever calmed a crying girl. The man was confused for a while and finally hugged Lynne. “Hey, are you okay?”
Lynne didn’t answer, she was still crying so sadly.
Although she didn’t have many words of comfort, Damian could generally figure out the reason why this little girl was crying. Treating Esperanza’s family badly and marrying a foreign man. For any girl, there would be no one who could endure such a heavy condition.
“It’s okay. Didn’t I say you would be the happiest person in the world?” Damian patted Lynne’s head a few times. “Esperanza’s family are just stupid people. They don’t know how to treat a diamond like you.”
Damian’s awkward words made Lynne silent for a while, although she still felt sad, no doubt the man’s words were enough to cheer her up a little. “What diamond?”
Hearing Lynne speak for the first time, Damian couldn’t help but smile. He still hugged the girl, rubbing her back gently. He was afraid that if he exerted more strength, her thin little body would be destroyed without a trace. “Your voice is even very beautiful, so why are Esperanza’s family so blind?”
“I’m not beautiful.” Lynne shook her head.
Damian chuckled, he let go of the hug, wiping away the tear tracks on half of Lynne’s face. “You’re beautiful. Your eyes are very beautiful.”
“Stop saying things like that awkwardly.” Finally Lynne chuckled. “What’s your name?”
“Damian.”
“Okay Damian.” Lynne nodded in understanding. She looked at the figure who would become her husband. “You’re handsome, not right for me.”
“Even if I have the whole world in my grasp, I don’t feel like I deserve you.”
“What’s that?” Lynne laughed again.
Damian smiled, he patted the girl’s head. His hand moved down, about to open the veil that covered half of Lynne’s face.
The girl quickly avoided, her eyes turned alert and her body trembled slightly. The little girl couldn’t hide her fear. “What are you doing?” The question came out in a voice that was so small, so fragile and sounded like she was going to cry again.
“Calm down okay?” Damian approached again, about to embrace the girl when she actually moved back, avoiding, holding her veil so tightly.
“Don’t come near! Don’t touch me!”
Damian took a deep breath. “It’s okay, you’re still beautiful no matter what wounds are on your face. Don’t worry okay? I won’t treat you like Esperanza’s family did.”
Lynne was silent, she didn’t answer. Her face was still so alert. She became as if she was isolated from the world, acting as if no one was allowed to touch her.
“Let me see for a moment okay? I have a good medicine. Let’s try it, your wounds might heal.”
Lynne was still silent, but her tense face slowly softened. She looked at Damian in fear.
“I won’t hurt you, trust me okay?”
The girl lowered her head, she played with her fingers for a while before finally nodding.
Seeing that, Damian breathed a sigh of relief, he went to his room to get a herbal medicine that he had concocted himself. The previous war general taught the man about herbal medicine. This plant can heal all wounds and remove scars in a short time. However, the process is so painful that someone chooses to avoid the plant.
Damian returned, he put down a box of crushed red herbs. “The process might be very painful. So painful that you might faint if you can’t bear it.”
Lynne didn’t really believe the man, but in the end, out of appreciation for his efforts, the girl nodded. “It’s okay.”
Damian nodded, his hand moved to remove the girl’s veil. Lynne trembled slightly, fear still clearly reflected in the girl’s gaze.
“It’s okay.” Damian held Lynne’s chin, bringing the girl to look at him. The man rubbed a number of burn scars on the girl’s face. He couldn’t help but feel sad. These scars wouldn’t appear if treated for a certain period of time, meaning that Lynne didn’t get good treatment after being injured. The pain must have been unbearable, not to mention the insults from others in the past decade. Thinking about it made Damian’s heart throb painfully.
“My face is ugly, you might regret it.” Lynne muttered.
Damian shook his head. “Does it hurt?”
Hearing the question, the girl fell silent, staring at Damian for a few seconds before her tears fell again. “For the past 10 years, no one has ever asked me that question.”
“I will never ask that question again. Because I don’t want to see you hurt again,” Damian replied. The man reached for the reddish medicine. He slowly applied it to Lynne’s scar. “Hold on a moment, the pain will only last a few minutes.”
Lynne nodded. The girl bit her lip, the pain was real, it felt like her entire face was burning, then as if being torn apart fiercely. But she remained silent, letting the crystal tears come out again without her realizing it.
Seeing that, Damian couldn’t help but worry. “Lynne, you can scream if you want.”
The girl shook her head, refusing. The pain was still so intense that Lynne’s entire body was sweating. But she still tried not to make a sound. This feeling of pain was really nothing compared to the pain she had experienced in the past decade. It didn’t matter.
Damian released Lynne’s bite on her lips, the man gave his hand for the girl to bite. “Don’t bite your lips, it might bleed. Just bite my hand, my hand is hard, not easily injured.”
Lynne did not refuse, she switched to biting Damian’s big hand, holding back the scream that hung in her throat.
After 5 minutes had passed, the pain subsided. Lynne let go of Damian’s hand, there was a deep bite mark there but it didn’t bleed. “Thank you.”
“No problem.” Damian smiled lightly, he grabbed the girl’s chin again to look at her face. “The wound has disappeared.”
“What?” Lynne was stunned. She stared blankly at Damian. “How is that possible?”
The man chuckled, taking the girl to his room where there was a large mirror there. “Look, you’re still beautiful.”
Lynne wiped her smooth face, the wounds had all disappeared, leaving no trace. In the end Lynne cried again. “I’m sorry if I’m a crybaby today. But, thank you, really, thank you. What should I do to repay you?”
“There’s nothing you need to do.” Damian stroked the girl’s hair gently, then hugged her. “But I would be very happy if you would marry me willingly.”
“Yes! Of course!”

In the end, the two of them got married. The wedding was not luxurious but so impressive, just saying the sacred vows at the altar of the church. None of Esperanza’s family members came, most of the guests were Damian’s subordinates.
The man led his wife out of the church. Lynne smiled broadly, she looked so happy today, Damian was satisfied just by looking at her. “Are you that happy?”
“Of course!” Lynne still maintained her smile. “I want to open a cake shop, I can get loans from some people and rent a shop.”
“My wife doesn’t need to worry about money, your husband will take care of it,” Damian replied. “I will try to find a lot of money for you.”
Lynne laughed hearing that, she was quite entertained even though her husband’s words were not sincere.
“Mr. Damian, there is a very urgent report.” A subordinate approached the two of them, he glanced at Lynne for a few moments.
“I have to go. Can you get in the car first?” The man stroked his wife’s hair gently.
The woman nodded, obediently stepping away into the car that Damien had rented.
“We have found the suspected reason behind the extermination of your family a decade ago.”
“Tell me.”
“It is suspected that it is because of the heirloom belonging to the Anderson family and the interference of the Sterling family,” the subordinate replied.
“I understand. Send the complete information to my office later.”
“Understood, sir.”
